I know this could happen to anyone. But todays young celebrities never get to be kids, and are never told no. They have the money and the access to all these things. They are surrounded with to many YES men that turn a blind eye to what is going on with the person they are hired to protect in favor of a paycheck. For a brief moment they will consider that could happen to me. But with no one to stop them or guide them it just might. 8:35 agree, a sensless loss.
@daydreamin Thanks so much for the link. It dawned on me where I'd seen him....he's the head gamesmaker in the latest Hunger Games movie. He was fantastic in it.
This is such a terrible loss. Philip Seymour Hoffman was one of my favorite actors. He was incredibly talented and always made a movie more interesting. He's an actor that I would always make a point of seeing a movie for. My thoughts go to his family and friends. Another life ended too soon. RIP.
9:02, Philip was hardly a child. He was 46 years old. Up until last year he had been clean for 23 years. He went back into rehab last year.
I think the people who call it a senseless loss don't know how difficult it is to fight an opiate addiction. I think it is an insult to the deceased person to call it senseless. It is a tragic loss.
Some of his personal quotes from the link @daydreamin posted above:
"Study, find all the good teachers and study with them, get involved in acting to act, not to be famous or for the money. Do plays. It's not worth it if you are just in it for the money. You have to love it." - On his advice to aspiring actors.
The stage can be more satisfying because you spend a lot of time rehearsing, and film is more technical. In the end it just depends on the work and the director. I do like the world of the theater though.
On my down time I do a lot of nothing. I just kinda read, run and hang out with friends because I haven't had a lot of it lately. I just try to do a lot of nothing. Go to some sports. I like to play tennis. I travel a lot with my work now so if you are travelling all the time you don't want to travel you want to stay home. And when you stay home you really don't want to do too much because you've been going out and getting up early and staying out late all the time. So you just do very little.
My favorite thing about acting is being alone and going through the scripts and working on it and getting ideas and asking myself questions, looking outside myself for them and researching and getting to the bottom of something and being creative with it as an actor and how to express it in a creative fashion. That's my favorite part. And,the actual acting of it.

There is more than one way to use the word senseless, let's be fair.
