I listened to a lot of live performance of WWRY and Freddie sounds different than the recording track. Check it out:

This is just my opinion since music taste is subjective, but Adam sounds great live comparatively. Maybe my ears are used to Adam's vibrato which I love. Something that Queen fans don't want to appreciate cause their ears are used to very little vibrato in Freddie's voice. He does have a great voice though and I can understand why Queen fans don't like anybody else to sing his songs.

This is another live performance of WWRY and WATC:

So different than how Adam performed them. Personally, I love Adam's version a lot cause I listened to his version a lot. I hope I don't offend anybody. I was never invested to listen to Queen. They weren't as popular during my generation of music listeners of 90s, 00s, and now. But thanks to Adam I bought their albums and pay more attention to Queen's music.

I listened to Queen when I was a young mother and loved them from the start. Yes, I miss Freddie but Adam was the first man I thought could do their music justice.

Freddie fans need to grow up. The man is dead and there will be no resurrection so he can come back and make a few more records! Yes, we have some old songs that are written and some are recorded. I see no need to be hateful to Adam. He's a nice guy with a good voice.

I kind of grasp what 5:38 is saying; I too felt the Freddie WWRY segment...sort of not piercing the notes as when Adam sings it and yes, he cuts through them like a sharp glistening knife. It could also be due to the old recording, perhaps not so laser-sharp back then. But I do think Freddie is highly-skilled in his execution of his Queen songs; which Adam has mastered in his own style, quite a lot of difference from Freddie's. And that's why Brian and Roger love him so much; it's not a case of old wine in new bottle, more like new wine in old bottle. So it depends on which wine one likes. lwl!

Mmm it's hot in June...hey would like to see Adam in that slinky little black singlet lol! singing I Want To Break Free, one more time. Also, A Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Elvis style, both these songs Adam did, so sexy! Since Adam is performing so many concerts in The States, perhaps he could throw in Jailhouse Rock or Blue Suede Shoes or a Michael Jackson...Mmm my cup of latte. By the way I did attend a live Michael Jackson concert when he performed here many many moons ago, Thriller album/Billie Jean.

This is 5:38 & 5:54

@Lam-my the promo ad posted above, at the beginning of it, WWRY is a recorded studio version and it's compared to live version of Adam's at iHeart Radio show.

IMO to be real and fair, they should've compared live performance of Queen to live performance of Queen + Adam Lambert. I think Queen fans compare Adam's live voice on video to studio recorded track of WWRY with this promo and the other one posted by Queenonline.

I remember Adam in one of his interviews mentioned that being at a live concert is much different than listening to a DVD of a live concert. DVD lacks certain reverb or something like that is used in recording studio where the sound bounces back and this doesn't happen when a live show is recorded on DVD. So you hear a different sound on DVD compare to a recorded studio track.

All I'm trying to say is IMO Adam's live performance of WWRY is way better than Freddie's live performance. No offence to Queen fans here. But I love Adam's live voice tons more and since this is Adam's fansite I can voice my opinion. But still I respect Freddie and I thank Adam so much to make me listen to Queen's music. Can't wait to see Adam at the concert on 7/3. Peace!

5:38, 5:54, 9:38 I absolutely understand what you're saying and I'm with you 100%.

Of course you like Adam's performance of WWRY more than Freddie's performance of the same song because you're a besotted, diehard Adam fan. Likewise Freddie's fans prefer Freddie's performance because they're besotted, diehard Freddie fans. Fair's fair - both great singers & they both bring different things to the table. Whatever floats your boat but you need to respect & accept the fact that others may not agree with you.

Maybe Adam will become the permanent lead singer of Queen. He could certainly do a whole lot worse.

@10:15pm it would've been way more fair if they used real sound of live performance at the beginning of this promo to compare it to Adam's live version. Huge difference. But oh well, it's their business and Adam is their guest.

I'm a big Queen fan and I'm a big Adam fan and to be honest, I'd prefer to go to Adam's solo concerts than when he's fronting Queen. Just my POV.

10:15, this is true. We need to keep in mind we are no more impartial than Freddie fans are.

@10:15
Great, great comment!

And there are many fans of both Adam and Freddie who can listen to and love Queen music without the feverish constant comparing of their voices, performance styles and personas. Both are so rare & unique, yet totally different talents.

Queen's music deserves to be heard for years to come - and currently Adam's the only one to SING & PERFORM their music LIVE the way it should be done, creating great FEELINGS OF JOY & PASSION!!! Already to date he has brought so much "new energy" to their songs and to Queen performances!

Besides there is no VALID, real way of comparing them. Times have changed so much, and I'm not talking about recording and performance tech's alone. Just my POV.

I wonder what will happen to Queen when, perish the thought, Brian/Roger move on to the big rock extravaganza in the sky but I guess there will be those who will keep Queen's music alive, and in the hearts and minds of their devoted fans.

I love the fact that Adam will always, always, be a part of Queen's history now. An iconic, world-renowned band that is an integral part of music legend. And Adam will always be a part of that. It's an incredible thing. Adam will always be in all the books, articles, and histories written about Queen. Forever.

I hope we'll hear more Adam news in the next 5 months or so apart from Queen + Adam promos, concerts etc.

@ 10:30PM- I really don't think that Adam will become the permanent lead singer for Queen. He wants a solo career and is currently working on his third album. This collabo for a summer concert series is something special that Adam just could not pass up. And remember that Brian and Roger aren't getting any younger so their touring days might be fewer than years ago although the Stones in their seventies are still going strong. I love all the attention that Adam is receiving for this tour with Queen and I am sure it will be amazing as the tour to see this summer. It should open up a greater fanbase for Adam with bigger sales and success for his new album when it is released.

@ 1:00 PM

JAK here.......I agree. An occasional revisiting of the past is a treat, but Adam shouldn't take up residence there. It would stymie his own career here in the present and future.

Comparisons are inevitable but rarely fair. Freddie was magic for his time and Adam is a different kind of magic.
We see it and Roger and Brian see it and I think Adam is a jolt of recognition for them....another chance to perform again with a singer who has an electric charge they respond to with joy.

On stage with Adam they are once more 'young at heart'.......and Adam is pinching himself to see if the San Diego boy inside him is actually fronting for Queen or still just dreaming!
