God Save The Queen! The concert of Queen with Adam Lambert at the Olympic Hall
A truly royal appearance! With all that has to offer the wide range of international show business: Sound and Light Show, glitz and glamor - and above all great emotions. The concert by QUEEN in the Olympic hall would also be allowed to fail one iota less, because after all it was indeed about to enthrone the new singer Adam Lambert. And already after few songs was clear: The boy has the stuff to step in Freddie Mercury's footprint.
Often were in rock history - whether due to tragic or other circumstances - replaced charismatic front men such as even with AC / DC, Uriah Heep, Van Halen and many others. But in no other band like Queen there are so many discussions on this issue, even after all these years. A substantial proportion of fans is still of the opinion that there is no Queen without Mercury and never will be, and must.
He has a chance and uses it
33-year-old Adam Lambert also knows that of course. Picked up in a song contest, musical past - can that work? "I thank you that you give me a chance!" he says frankly; ; so there is already won. His greatest assets are, however, that he neither imitated nor Freddie Mercury parodies, but most times quotes very carefully. And otherwise its own charm throws into the mix. And its not inconsiderable skills as a singer and emcee. And when he - the modern video technology makes it possible - in "Bohemian Rhapsody" even a duet with the late 1991 predecessor sings, there's no stopping them.
Previously hit after hit, otherwise it does not work with Queen: frivolous "One Vision" as the opener, "I Want It All", "Who Wants To Live Forever", "I Want Break Free Sound", "Killer Queen" gorgeous with a Lambert on the couch, "Somebody to Love" and many more.
The Olympic Hall as a Christmas plate
In an acoustic set by Brian May "'39" and "Love Of My Life" as a devout fan-choir to sing along to all. Moreover, Mays very big performance in a spacey solo on the guitar, backed with sophisticated lighting effects, until the whole hall like a Christmas plate full of sparkles bright candy. And drummer Roger Taylor returns with his son a small drum Battle.
Towards the end of the show, May applies the 12,000 fans in the hall, pointing to Adam Lambert and asks, "Well, what do you think of our new man" Thunderous applause, standing ovations; and Lambert plays the embarrassed.
In addition, of course, "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions", and it's raining gold glitter from the ceiling like an American presidential election.
Now to be seen how durable is the new lineup. And if they still can to add a few new to all their evergreens. God Save The Queen.

Thank you, broddy! We could wallpaper our whole house with the great reviews for QAL. What an incredible way for Queen to finalize its legacy, with strength and skill and enthusiasm, just as it should be. And I do believe there will be more QAL shows to come, even if not an actual tour. Adam is too valuable to just let him drift out of Queen. As Brian says, he is part of their family now.
The best thing is that Adam will forever be in the realm of rock legend due to his Queen association. Forever. And in a positive, admirable way, just of accolades and triumphant performances. His name will be etched alongside the greats because he is worthy to be there with them.
Meant "full of accolades..."
I love....."until the whole hall like a Christmas plate sparkles bright candy"...... I know just what they mean!
Language, any language, can be so beautiful, can present our mind with glorious pictures....reality or fancy.
Great review, but missed the part about Adam singing Save Me and Who Wants to Live forever.
I would be very selfish if I preferred another tour, over Brian dunning for political office on Common Decency. This covers much more than his badgers. Common decency is lacking world wide, and even in the USA Common Decency is lacking. Bravo Brian, for stepping out and confronting this issue. Anne Marie
correction: Running not dunning
The key pad doesn't work like it used to, LOL
Nothing does! :-(
