Adam Lambert has unveiled another track from The Original High, and it’s very different from the ’90s house-influenced “Ghost Town”. This one’s a moody, piano-driven R&B ballad that builds.

Is it about Sauli? Or any other special man?

Well, Adam has got over it. He's not in love and enjoys being single.

I listened to 'underground' several times and like it very much, but not as much as 'Ghost Town'. I am ALWAYS compelled to go listen to that song over and over again and never tire of it. It's indeed a great first single!!! Can't wait for his GMA show! Hope that he plays tons of new songs. Old ones are great too but this is era 3 after all!

Most people have had a lost love, and this song makes us remember our own lost loves. Adam has had his share of lost loves. I really liked the song, even more than Ghost Town, will be waiting to hear the whole album in June.

12:51, You are sick and very unstable.

Obviously, a lot of people will say, "Oh, that's about, Sauli", maybe, but not necessarily so. Adam has gone through other lost loves, and he said he wants people to relate to this song, about their lost loves. It's a bit sad, losing a love rarely brings back good feelings, even if you are over it, which obviously you must be, because the song is about lost loves, and what might have been.

Loved the song, and was really impressed that Adam did all the background tracks himself. When you listen to it again, hear those background tracks, he did a great job, on this song.

I must say I love this new song.

Adam has said in several interviews, that many of the not just about him, but also about some of things his friends and acquaintances have been going thorough sometimes in their lives. He hopes the songs many people can relate to! So, it's useless to try to read Adam's life into every song you hear him sing!!!

Adam has made it quite clear the song is not just about him, but about anyone who has gone through this, a lost love. Of course people will think it refers to Adam as well as other people. He has been quite public about his love life, and I don't think it matters how or who we relate the song to. If we like the song, is the main thing, and will we buy it and play it. These songs come from his heart, whether they are about him or his friends. About 90% of all songs ever written are about love. It is the most common and mainstream topic.

4:49 -- So right. I have heard Adam say many times that his new songs are for everyone and anyone who can relate to lyrics. I'm 1:19 by the way and I'm changing my mind after listening to Underground several more times. It's AS GOOD as Ghost Town. Now, I really, really can't wait to hear the full "THE ORIGINAL HIGH" Adam.

This song is about a lost love, but the person is begging to be taken back. This person is not over the lost love, and is in deep pain, and want's the relationship to get back again. This song could be about anyone, who has or is going through a very painful time. He still loves the person, but seems like the other person has moved on. This situation pulls on the heartstrings of anyone hearing it.
It's about anyone in the universe, who is still in love. Love can be the most sad and hurtful thing, as well as joy and happiness.

AW well said 7:47 thank you:)

It's a beautiful, sad song. But it's just a song, hardly has special relevance for Adam's own life.

@7:47
Totally agree with you.
Adam has gone through it, too.
Therefore I'm sure when recording it a certain someone whose name shall not be mentioned was in his thoughts. That's what makes it real, the love & the hurt.

@2:09 AM
If the break up was difficult and painful, Adam hid it very well. I think he has enjoyed the freedom to the fullest. Maybe Adam has gone through it earlier, with Brad.

Anonymous said...

Is brad better to you then Sauli?

Anonymous said...

adam said in some interwiew that the long relationships are booring so maybe he didn't think either of these guys

@5:12AM
True. Most likely he didn't think anyone in particular. Or who knows, if he had someone Hollywood star on his mind ;)

Anyway the song and Adam's voice are beautiful.

After listening to Underground a number of times, I just wonder why this song wasn't released as the first single rather than Ghost Town. I like Underground so much better and think it would get lots of radio play and even appeal to the younger listening audience. Adam sounds amazing and it so different from previous songs he has done. Whatever the choice of songs, I can't wait for the release of his third album and then his appearance on GMA where he probably will perform these two songs.

Can't Adam sing a song about a lost love without it having to be about Sauli? Is he like Taylor Swift who seems to use her broken relationships for new songs she writes? I suppose the best song lyrics are about things we know best, experiences we have had, people we have known. When I listen to the lyrics of Adam's new songs, I feel that I am back in the classroom teaching English and analyzing certain poems for their meaning. How do those words relate to the poet? How do those words relate to you in any way? Sometimes I just want to listen to a song for the music, the sound, the feeling it evokes and not analyze its every line. Anyway I do like Underground better than GT just because of its sound and Adam's voice. It just seems so different.

Although Adam has gone through this himself, doesn't mean he is singing about himself. He knows how this feels, and he has talked to his many friends, and found they have gone through the same thing. It is just a song about loving someone, and they have fallen out of love, but the other person isn't over it, and wants it all back, like it used to be.
Adam has said over and over, that he cannot be in a relationship. Because it would not be fair to either of them. He said recently in an interview, that right now he cannot commit to a person because of giving all his time to his music. He even said he is in a monogamous relationship with his music.
Also everybody knows that this last year he spent a lot of time with Sauli, although he still insisted he is not in love, and is single. This is why a lot of people think this song has personal meaning to Adam. It probably does have personal meaning to Adam, but the song still could be about others too.
He was looking for a song with meanings that could pertain to others as well as himself.

In other words - it's Chokehold.
