I've only watched videos of Rocky Horror and that's because Adam is acting in it. I respect Adam's explanation about not keen on doing a transvestite character; some song lyric actually state 'I am a transvestite...' and he is not. Somehow, he could have given it a go, it's a very challenging role, and will test his capabilities as a first class actor. But not sure if he would confuse his myriad fans who love him for who he really is. Being always positive, sometimes overly...I think he could have taken on the Frank-N-Furter role. Eddie, in the show has a less important impact. Still, Adam has made the right decision because he alone knows what's best for himself; he's the expert here.
Since Adam is on tour, there is simply not enough time available for him in his schedule to film the lead role in Rocky Horror. On the other hand, the role of Eddie is short, so Adam is able to squeeze filming for it into much less time.
Also, Adam has said before that he does not care to dress in drag... perhaps that has some weight in his decision.
I like Adam's decision to play Eddie . . he knows the media would have a field day
if he played Frank-n-Furter . . .
