Unfortunately I think we have all become too aware of how reality shows manipulate situations to create drama and increase ratings, but to "force" a singer to sing a song he did not want, and a song associated with one of the judges, seems a big departure from any concept of fairness. His experience with the other judges was also unfortunate but I am glad he was able to walk away with a positive memory from Adam.
From what I've read, Adam is a force to be reckoned with as a judge on The X Factor Australia but I can't imagine him being like Simon Cowell on "American Idol".
Sad that this contestant had to sing a song he didn't want to sing & especially one of Adam's songs, in Adam's presence.
Forced to sing an Adam Lambert song? Sounds pretty fishy to me lol!
Judge: Hey I want you to sing an Adam Lambert song.
Contestant: But Adam Lambert songs are very difficult to sing; only he can grapple the bull by the horns.
Judge: You just got to give it your best; or else...
Contestant: Okay okay!
Adam Lambert enters to mediate...switches on his $16-million-dollar smile:
It's okay...he can sing whatever he likes.
Contestant: You're the best Judge unlike the other two! And sings:
Gotta get out Gotta get outside I gotta get outside of my mind Before I rip it out I'm on a drive I'm on a night drive I gotta take a little trip, get twisted And ride it out
Always after hours I'm running red lights Always after hours Late night, power I feel it at the wheel...
Adam Lambert: That's beautiful! You're through to the next round.
Contestant: Thank you...you're sooo understanding but most of all, you know what you are doing!
I don't think Adam is like Simon Cowell, he's neither kiss-ass nor kick-ass. I guess we can imagine Adam as a judge pretty much as he was when he guest-judged on American Idol for two days, honest but friendly.
In a interview Adam pretty much slammed all the judges on his season as well^^. He saied that Simon was harsh, Paula as too sugarcoat and Randy was too positive as well which all didn't really help. The one advise he kept mentioning was from Kara, about being believable.
Aha! So Kara is his pick; yes Kara said Adam was kind of acting rather than real singing at the first round of individual stage audition; that she couldn't seem to feel his real emotions. But Kara also wrote the winner's song which he couldn't feel passionate enough to sing it well.
I think Paula was genuine not sugarcoating as far as critiquing Adam. She knows the real deal being in the singing business first hand. She said Adam would be iconic, well, Paula was pretty accurate...now echoed by Brian and Roger using different words. My pick for S8 Judge is Simon, he kept S8 different. When Adam and he left, that was actually the real finale.
If I recall, Adam and Kris did not sing "No Boundaries" as a duet. They sang it separately. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think they sang it together.
Adam and Kris sang "No Boundaries" (written by Kara DioGuardi) aka the "Coronation Song" aka "Winners Single" for that season on the Season 8 (2009) Top 2 Episode. It was the final song that both contestants sang that night, after each singing two songs. They each sang the song separately and did not share the stage together for the song.. It was released as the 1st single for both Adam Lambert and Kris Allen.
Adam also sang "Mad World" and "A Change Is Gonna Come"..
ADAM's version of "No Boundaries" was much better than Kris' ... but they had to lean toward the 'winner's' version. It wouldn't do to say the 'runner-up' did a better job of singing it ... now would it?? ADAM out-sang Kris throughout that whole competition but why keep re-hashing ... it does no one any good. IMO

I'm sure this young man needed Adams kindness at that point.

Leave it to Adam to bring compassion into the process. He is as always - a class act. He just never fails to amaze me. A forever fan.
I wonder which Adam song he sang? We'll find out in time. And yes, Adam is a class act. And the more who know it, the better.

Adam Lambert - After Hours in Berlin 29.04.2016.
My favourite video/song...the hypnotic tick-tock pendulum, his voice prelude, and the powerful portion sung in the stage shadow. Enchanting, sexiness.
I don't think Adam is like Simon Cowell, he's neither kiss-ass nor kick-ass.

I really like "No Boundaries" (Adam's version) & still listen to it from time to time.
I also really like "Strut" which Kara wrote with Adam & Greg Wells.
When Adam sang with Kris including "No Boundaries: He didn't give
his "whole self" because he didn't want to over power Kris. I
have seen/heard this when he sings with others who can't (who can) with him.
There are some out there that can . . . I'm waiting for that duet.
If I recall, Adam and Kris did not sing "No Boundaries" as a duet. They sang it separately. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think they sang it together.
Your right . . I was probably thinking of "We are the Champions"
Maybe the term duet is wrong . . . meant they were both singing on stage together but not at the same time.

Hard to believe its been 7 years!!!!!

tess4ADAM(LAMBERT Outlaw)
I thought it was a very disjointed song, musically.
