Billboard: Adam Lambert Makes a Cameo in Freddie Mercury Biopic 'Bohemian Rhapsody'

On Tuesday (Oct. 30), Adam Lambert revealed that he makes a brief cameo in the hotly anticipated Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. In a red carpet interview from the film’s New York City premiere, Lambert told Access that his appearance is “very, very mysterious.”
Upon the film’s theatrical debut yesterday (Nov. 2), eagle-eyed Glamberts were quick to spot the American Idol star. The blink-and-you-miss-it moment happens during a scene where Mercury (played by Mr. Robot star Rami Malek) is at a truck stop on Queen’s first-ever North American tour. He calls then-fiance Mary Austin (played by Lucy Boynton) from a pay phone for a quick check-in while a suitor is waiting for a public restroom hookup in the background. That gentleman caller? Yep, that’s Lambert!

Hi to all been away forever but thought I’d stop in and rave a little how amazing Bohemian Rhapsody is . My daughter and I saw it Friday at an IMAX theater and we’re blown away . I knew to look for Adam dressed as Dusty the truck driver, but I have to say I would’ve never recognized him. My daughter is only a casual Queen fan.Like so many people her age she only knew bohemian Rhapsody because of Wayne’s world, and I don’t think she expected to enjoy the movie. She was wrong...:when we left the theater she confessed that she had missed the entire live aid performance because she was crying so hard she couldn’t see. She had taken me to Branson for my birthday weekend and we spent the whole rest of the weekend talking about the movie. I hope all of you have a chance to go and see it it’s a pretty amazing to hours.

Rose Petal, I am going to see it Wednesday night! My local theater has a "special" showing once a month of a selected film. They often have a discussion afterwards, sometimes with a guest speaker. This Wednesday, after the film, guest David Pruitt will lead a discussion. He was a lighting technician for years with a number of performers, like Springsteen and Queen. So he knows some things firsthand. I am very excited to see the movie and to join in the discussion. And maybe I'll meet a few more local Glamberts who I never knew lived close by. I LOVE when that happens!

Sounds exciting!!!! We love to know what insight Mr. Pruitt has and how the discussion goes. I know you’ll love the movie ... we came away much deeper understanding of the Freddie the band and the music.

You guys, I saw the movie today! I loved it!!! I went with a friend who's not into Queen or Adam like me and even she was satisfied with the movie. Lol. I think Rami Malek nailed it, and that dead ringer Brian May, whoa! There was also some humor too. As for Adam, I made sure to keep my eyes wide open and because I've heard how he makes his cameo, I saw him! After seeing this movie, I have more respect for Freddie, understanding him a little bit more. You know when my friend and I went to the theater the movie was SOLD OUT, so we didn't want to wait for another 3 or 4 hours for the next showing, so we left to get to the next closest theater and just waited for about a half hour! I hope the movie does good in attendance for a long time. Btw, it was a mixed age group audience, young and old alike!

It's me again, I just watched my local news where it was mentioned Bohemian Rhapsody is the number 1 movie this weekend, and it made 50 million "higher than expected"!!!! I Im so happy it's number 1 for now! I've read a few horrible cruel reviews by a few critics and Bo Rhap being number 1 made my day! God save the Queen! Lol. To be clear the 50 million is dollars.

I think Adam certainly helped bring a younger generation of fans to the fantastic music and talent of Queen.
Adam was a gift from God to Queen the configuration of today of Queen. On the other hand Queen has been a gift from God to Adam it has immensely helped his career as well. I think the fact the people that I've heard here loved the movie is the best review. Glad it's doing well. I had heard in recent years like the Paul Rodgers years the audiances were primarily older ones that when Adam started fronting it he drew in more young people to Queen. We all here know Adam has a very diverse fan groupe both really young and young, older all ages that's a very good things .
Many glamberts are now Queenberts. I suspect lot of the younger ones who dont know as much about the original Queen are going to get more knowledge of it along with all other more knowledgeable Queen fans.Hi Rose Pedal!

Hello to you too Sue good to hear from you. I hope you are feeling better as I recall you were having some health issues. I’ve always been a Queen fan but hadn’t really listened to their music for years until Adam joined them. It’s been a fantastic reawakening of their amazing music for me. But I gotta say wouldn’t matter to me who Adam was fronting it could be my least favorite music, and I’d be there smiling and singing along, Cuz , let’s face it Adam is well Adam I love him no matter, what he does, sings or wears. I don’t care if his hair is long , short , blonde , silver , red or even green . I’ll take him with or without facial hair, freckled or tattooed, solo music or with Queen ... I’d probably even walk through a storm to hear him sing the phone book.Because for m the sound of his voice is the most beautiful sound I’ve ever heard and I’ll be a fan forever. Have a great day.

Rose Petal, Somehow I get the impression that you're an Adam fan. LOL!

Rose Petal I so agree with everything you have said. It is like we are on the exact same wave length. I feel so the same way about him. I think we have always has his back and fought some battles along the way I know you have as well. I think Adam is finally in America is starting to get the recognition he deserves. I hope it continues and gets bigger and bigger he deserves so much recognition for his talent. He not just another pop singer he can sing anything and everything spectacularly well.
Cant wait for his music to come out think we have a lot of things coming this next year maybe even before something I hope, he got something to announce soon. I'm like you he beautiful inside and out he can wear his hair, facial hair whatever anyway he wants he still beautiful Adam with the gorgeous voice. His voice is the best I've ever heard and I've heard a lot. I watched his performance on the Wicked Halloween special so many times OP cant count them ,THAT VOICE WOW and it some how manages to get better year after year. I also will be a fan along as I am on this earth and maybe beyond lol. I made a mistake or two this phone is nuts to type on.

And of course I feel the same way, Rose Petal and Sue Smith!

OT, but I just want to add a comment about the BR movie.

I think that sometimes a biopic can be more enjoyable if you don't know all the details about the person the film is about. You tend to be less picky about the details. I'm sure some diehard, long term Queenies don't like the movie because it omits certain things or takes some liberties with other things. Of course, Brian and Roger has to approve of everything that went into this film.

Critics will do their jobs and analyze every little thing. Some may know a lot about Queen and others may not. But the proof in the past few days is that the public LOVES this movies, flaws and all, because it has heart and soul and shares the best music in the world with all of us.

I'm seeing it Wednesday night. Can't wait!

DEE R Gee everyone just call.me Sue.i actually said about the same thing you did. Yes there has been good and bad reviews but best review is that people are going to see it and really like it.
Most movies change things to look a bit different than they actually were. Especially if it was a biopic such as this one is. That's just Hollywood if it wasn't any big change it seems they were ok with it.
QAL has been a huge success and has put Brian and Rodger and Adam at the top of their game.
They have said many times they would not be doing it if not for Adam. I do believe doing all the QAL concerts have given them an even wider and many more young peoe fan base to add to their already extensive fan base and has really helped the mo ie even more. I am sure it would have done well regardless many fans of FM but so many young viewers who were to young to experiance FM or not even born yet are even more aware if the popularity of FM and Queen of years ago, because of the popularity
Of QAL. They were able to see first hand the wonderful experiance of Queen and their music even if it was in a different configuration than the original Queen. Adam has been a big force in that along with all their magnificant talent all I'm saying.
I'm glad most of the original fans are happy maybe some are not that to be expected. But what's great is now there newer young and older fans can learn more about where the magnificance of Queen started out. Like I said before even I who is now 70 could learn I became a Queen fan through Adam as I stated many times. Hope you have a great time at the movie.

Just came from the movie and suggest if you have to, go out of your way to find and see it.

Rose Petal, Dee R Gee, Sue, I am agreeing with all of your comments here! As I had mentioned above I saw the movie yesterday and believe me I wish I can point out scenes from the film but I WON'T, I will NOT spoil it for anyone. It's best when anyone here that has yet to see it, to see for themselves. I will say I loved it and find it to be a very good movie even if SOME not all damned critics were hell bent to trash Bo Rhap, as this one article in a Chicago paper was so brutal. The people have spoken, they have made this a number 1 movie for the opening weekend, and hoping it will be this way for awhile! Heck Bo Rhap beat Disneys Nutcracker!

Patria, yes it's a must see movie! For those who can't make it, I am 100% , a DVD is in the future! But please go see it!!!! One more thing, before seeing the film, I didn't have this deep perception of Freddie, but after the film, I have more respect and appreciate the man he was even more, I see him now in a different light, (a good light)!

I think the bad reviewers wanted a raunchy film

Rosepetal said...

What ever gave you that idea ?...lol

Dee R Gee said...

So smart of Brian and Roger to make sure this was a PG-13 film. They want families to go see him. They want people of all ages, young and old to enjoy it. Great strategy! I guess a few countries have rated it "over-18" which is a shame. From what I hear, there are no graphic sex scenes in this movie. Going to see it tomorrow!

Just as Freddie said in the movie trailer (Rami) when the reporter asked him about his personal life ... "I write music .. what more do you want"?? Or something like that .. that was Freddie's nice way of saying .. "none of your business .. that's all you need to know"!!

So why would the critics expect Brian, Roger & John to sensationalize Freddie's personal life just because he's no longer here!! Critics are like vultures looking for victims ... waiting to pounce!!

I say from all that I have read on these message boards & Ytube & most fan sites .. this picture is a HIT & I hope it gets an Oscar!! I'll never see it unless I live long enough for it to be televised or released on DVD!!

Lambert Outlaw...well said. The movie does touch on Freddie’s sexuality but does it tastefully. I’m not sure what the critics wanted but in the long run it doesn’t matter. The movie is fantastic and the audience loves it and if Remi doesn’t get an Oscar there’s something very wrong in movieland.

Allysa Mentor...That's what I think also, these bad critics wanted to hear and see the worst of Freddie! However Brian and Roger didn't go that direction, I'm so happy how the film turned out!
Dee R Gee...You're right, there are no graphic scenes, a kiss here and there, no worries about that. My audience consisted of old and young, my sister in laws daughter who's 16 yrs old, and her son is 13 yrs. old saw the movie and they really enjoyed it! As Rose Petal said this movie is done tastefully! I'm excited for you to see the movie! Lol
Lambert Outlaw...I want to say that you'll be around for a long time, and YOU WILL see the movie, and IT WILL be out in DVD. just like any other movie!
