36. Adam Lambert, "New Eyes"
If you still haven't gotten over how goddamn good Niall Horan's "Slow Hands" sounded on radio and everywhere else a couple years back, here comes Adam Lambert to do that song's blues-pop strut one better. Lambert's voice is such a force of nature that you could be forgiven for never even really considering what it might sound like when it's restrained to a sleazy rasp-sigh and a don't-break-the-mood falsetto, but surprise surprise: He sounds pretty great at that too, particularly while writhing over patiently dribbling bass and stadium-clapping snare. Never quite goes for the KO, but that's fine: Even the current frontman of Queen has to occasionally leave 'em wanting more.

"sleazy rasp-sigh." Sure catches the mood. I'm so glad Adam responded to this. Billboard is a big deal!
I like Billboard's quote...."Lambert's voice is such a force of nature...." So true!
And I also agree with Billboard's remark that Adam "...never quite goes for the K.O..."(in the official video).
That's also true, IMO, but he DID on Ellen and thereafter....which I feel was a welcome adjustment...more "signature Adam Lambert", IMO. I REALLY liked THAT one!
Glad to see Adam on that prestigious list! But I kind of question a list labeled "Billboard's 50 Best Songs of 2019"....when we're only half-way through the year! What happens between now and the end of December? LOL
@Nanbert
If you read the tweet by Billboard, which we embedded here too, they added “(so far)”.. which they also pointed out in the linked article..
Good for Adam and for us! Lol
I don't know any of these songs apart from "New Eyes".
The list at the bottom of the article puts "New Eyes" at #15 and "If I Can't Have You" by Shawn Menzies at #36 but in the actual article, they're reversed. Mistake?
@Rosemary White
I assume that the listing in the article is correct i.e. they have "New Eyes" at #36. The Spotify playlist (with New Eyes at #15 position on the playlist) is in random order and none of the songs line up with the "Best Songs" article list..
Glitzylady...thanks for the information. I guess I missed it.
Thanks for the clarification, glitzylady.
In fact, upon further inspection, the songs on the Spotify playlist are in reverse order, ie #1 on the 50 Best Songs song list in the article is #50 on the Spotify playlist.. So in other words, the playlist acts as a countdown to the #1 pick, which is the Jonas Brothers song..
