FLASHBACK: Adam Lambert and Allison Iraheta Perform "Slow Ride" on American Idol and Idol Tour, 2009 (UPDATED)

At Adam Lambert's solo concert mini-tour in December, one of Adam's two background singers was none other than his co-contestant and dear friend from American Idol Season 8, Allison Iraheta.  You may recall that he endearingly referred to Allison during the Idol tour as his "kid sister."

To commemorate this wonderful onstage reunion of Adam and Allison, we present to you two versions of their epic duet performance of "Slow Ride": the first, the original from the television show and which includes the judges' critiques; and the second, an in-concert reprise that was performed throughout the Idol summer tour, this one from Columbus, Ohio, on August 25, 2009.  Enjoy!

UPDATE (12/26/19): We added two bonus videos at the bottom of the post.

BONUS UPDATE! We are including two additional videos below that feature not only Adam and Allison, but also the winner of their Idol season (and Adam's roommate during the show), Kris Allen.  Together, the three of them, who became the tightest of friends throughout Season 8, were lovingly dubbed "Kradison" by Idol fans.

Several months after the Idols summer tour was over, On Air With Ryan Seacrest held a contest called Idols, Rock My Town, which was "the result of months of voting by cities across America who all were pulling for the once in a lifetime concert" featuring co-headliners Adam Lambert, Kris Allen and Allison Iraheta.  New York "won" the contest and the concert took place on February 12, 2010 at the Highline Ballroom in NYC.

At the show, each of them did their own set (see setlist at MJ's Big Blog) and then came together at the end to perform Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy," a massive 2006 radio hit that was one rare song that the three felt could easily accommoate each of their singing styles (factoid: the mysterious Gnarls Barkley was none other than the great CeeLo Green).

The first video below was produced by On Air With Ryan Seacrest and is a clever edit of no less than eight videos taken by fans who were at the concert.  We present this amazing video thanks to one of our wonderful regular readers, tess4ADAM(LAMBERT Outlaw), who suggested adding the epic performance to this flashback post.

AND:  Look what we found!  Jim Cantiello (remember him..?!), who, at that time, was a correspondent for MTV News and, seemingly, one of the biggest Idol fans of anyone in the media interviewed 'Kradison' just before the show.  There were actually nine parts to this interview but we could only locate this one but it still gives you a great sense of the Kradison cameraderie!

Tess,

For some reason that video has now been removed! It worked when you left your comment earlier this morning?

But I found a great replacement: it is the video put out by On Air With Ryan Seacrest who, you might remember, actually sponsored the concert via a contest. I will actually add it to this post! Thanks for reminding us.

I remember Adam and Allison's duet SO WELL! They blew the roof off the place. The showed everyone how it outa be done. Idol was NEVER the same after Adam Lambert. Never.

You're welcome, Tess!

And I SO agree, Dee! Adam simply set the bar too high for all future seasons. Of the remaining seven seasons (of its original home on Fox, although it could even now with its new home on ABC) the only contestant to have had major success coming out of the show was Phillip Phillips -- very talented, although he is 180-degrees in style and personality from Adam. Simon REALLY ate for lunch his "too theatrical" phrase by the end of Season 8 and beyond, given Adam has turned out to be one of the very most successful Idols -- although Simon did admit as such in the Q+AL special this past Spring.

I agree with all of the above....that was a special American Idol....but was spoiled by Adam's loss! I'm surprised to read in comments under Youtube videos of Adam ...that so many people, besides me/us were turned off after Adam's loss, and stopped watching AI after that season.

And yet, AI has jump-started the careers of so many artists (not just the winners). It was interesting to see THREE MAJOR AMERICAN IDOL POWERHOUSES showcased on "The Voice" finale a short time ago...Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson and Adam Lambert!...and only Kelly was even a winner! I don't watch "The Voice" often, but I have read others remark that past winners and contestents never return to do a guest performance, mentor or whatever.

It would be interesting if American Idol would do a "Special" one of these days....and bring back all the winners and most successful contestents for performances. It might even drum up interest for the next American Idol season....if there's going to be one.
