Sure hope those QAL shows do happen. The world is still in a COVID tizzy. Fingers crossed.

Just watched the newest episode of Clash of the Cover Bands. It's great show, I hope it renews and renews.

Dee, I'm not confident there will be anymore QAL concerts. Hope I am wrong.

Dear Brian! He's such a kind and thoughtful human being...as well as brilliant and immensely talented....a true Renaissance man. I hope all those concerts go forward as planned, with no hitch or delay....and with everyone in good health.

The world needs another rousing Queen and Adam Lambert tour! I know I do!

American Idol: Why Fans Think Adam Lambert Changed The Show Forever

Mi Re La, thanks for that link. I never watched Idol till two seasons before Adam. My sisters watched it and talked about it so I decided to start. I saw the Davids, and Chris Daughtry, etc. and thought it was ok. I never got emotionally invested in any contestant, though. But then came Season 8. This cute guy with punky black hair came out and sang BoRhap and my mind just blew away. I loved Adam from the first moment I saw him. And it got more exciting each week. My sisters like him too but not like me. I was smitten forever. They admitted that there had not been a contestant like Adam on the show before. I was glued to the show each week and he just got better and better.

And, as with many Adam fans, when the show ended, I could not just "let him go." I had to keep following him. He was such a sensation. The media loved him. The more we learned about him, the more intrigued we were. We realized the road could be rocky, but I've loved every minute.

BTW, I did watch to two seasons following Adam's. He was quite connected to the show and appeared on it. But after Season 10, I was done. I know there have been other good contestants. But Adam changed that show for good.

Thanks, Angeladam. I'm sure ALL Glamberts love and admire Brian May, too.

MiReLa and Dee R Gee....Yes, watching Adam on American Idol was a life-changing experience for me. He had me "in his pocket" from his first song. After he came in second, I lost all belief and interest in American Idol....how could SUCH a monumental talent not win?!!!!!

Like I've read other Glamberts also say, I stopped watching American Idol after that..
but I've NEVER stopped watching and following Adam since then!

Just wondering what Adam's been up to this week?

Nanbert said...

Dee R Gee......Christmas shopping?

Dee R Gee said...

Yeah, probably shopping. And I wonder if he'll be on Darren Criss's Christmas special on Dec. 20? Hope so. I assume there were only two videos made from the songs on Darren's album? "The Man With The Bag" and the "Drunk Santa" one, which is kinda cute if you like a bar full of drunk Santas. Hope to see Adam again soon, whatever it is. Of course, I've been watching Cover Bands so I get my Adam that way, too.

He's doing secret rehearsals and recordings. Only small amount of leaked info but included 2 photos of a rehearsal hall with no people.

Oh Yeah! This is from "Your SpotiyCue/The Echo" by Haley Hendricks. It's part of a long article.

Darren Criss (featuring Adam Lambert): “(Everybody’s Waiting For) The Man With The Bag”

“Glee” star Darren Criss collaborated with Adam Lambert to provide an upbeat rendition of this song. Prior to hearing this cover, I had never heard the original version of this song by Kay Starr, but hearing it made me decide this cover by Criss and Lambert was much more lively. With that in mind, I believe this song could stand alone as an original song.

Just saw elsewhere that LIFE magazine is putting out a special issue featuring QUEEN and its history right up through Adam! Saw a few excerpts that mention Adam. Should be great!

And yeah, I also saw that rehearsal location photo with a comment about being a "wrap." Don't know what that's about but it sure looks intriguing!

Just when you think nothing much is going on........

Dee, correct me if I'm wrong, but the Dec. 20 show is part of his A Very Darren Crissmas Holiday concert tour, not a TV show — or was it announced somewhere that it will be broadcast? Or, did you mean Adam appearing with him at his show in NYC?

Dee R Gee said...

broddy, I guess I am confused! I just assumed it was a TV special, but it must be the concert tour. Darren was just on TV with his other stuff so it wouldn't be logical that this one would be, too. Darren has sure hit the mother lode with TV exposure lately. I really like him. He's multi-talented and has a good personality. Thanks for clearing up my confusion.

broddybounce said...

No worries, Dee! Totally get how you might have gotten that confused. But, yes, the fact that he already hosted a special, unlikely that he do another one so soon — although the Queen special is ABC, and Darren has ties with Fox. Yah, it's just the tour. That being said... You may be onto something in the fact that I wonder if Adam's going to make some surprise appearance as a couple of them. If he were to, it most certainly would be in New York, for one.

Dee R Gee said...

Yep, it would be great if Adam was a surprise guest.

The Toys For Tots charity event he just performed at looked quite casual. TFT is a great organization. Nice that Adam was a part of it.

Dee R Gee....I looked online for that info about Life magazine's 2021 Special on Queen, a definite collectible, and discovered that it is a "RE-RELEASE of a highly popular 2018 Life Special Issue featuring Freddie Mercury on the front cover and the band on the back cover".

There was also a re-release of the same issue in 2020...don't know about 2019.

I enlarged the photos of those magazines offered in EBAY, and could see that the "re-release of the 2018 issue" is clearly identified as such on the bottom right corner of the cover, directly above the bar code square.

I'm sure that magazine would be a collectible, no matter whether it is the original 2018 issue, or a subsequent 2019, 2020 or 2021 re-release issue. But they'd certainly all be identical, whatever the year of issue.

Dee R Gee said...

Nanbert, thanks for doing that research. I just saw the info somewhere and passed it on. I do know that it includes Adam's role in the band. I saw an excerpt from the magazine that mentions him as the new front man. I realize this issue is not about Adam. It's about Queen and Freddie. But it does acknowledge Adam, too. I would love to get a copy.

Been enjoying the Starstruck promo in London. Adam will be on Lorraine's show tomorrow.

Just watched my DVR of Cover Bands. It was good one. Bon Jovi and Ozzie Osbourne. Both really good. Bon Jovi won. Adam is very fun as a judge.

Dee R Gee...more on that 2021 Reissue of LIFE's Special Edition #56 (2018)....there are a couple changes on the cover on this issue (not seen on the previous reissues). First, there is a gold seal to the right of Freddie's figure in which is written "Freddie Mercury...30 years gone". Second, to the left of the Freddie figure is a quote of his..."I will be a legend."

Both Amazon and Ebay have these issues on sale... with a wide array of asking prices, of course....mostly in the teens.
But, printed on the 2021 edition is the advice to display on news stands until 1/29/22. So, they are possibly still available there.

An aside....I am amused by Freddie's statement "I will be a legend"...no lack of self aggrandizement there! I wonder what he'd think of Adam... I suspect not very charitably, in spite of what Brian and Roger may suggest. Frankly, I doubt he'd take kindly to such a monumental talent filling his shoes so spectacularly! I remember an interview of him I saw on Youtube, where he sniffed "WHO could replace ME?"

Adam can!!!!!....and does!!!!!

Patria said...

I've always thought as you do about Freddie liking Adam, Nanbert. He wouldn't be charitable towards Adam. Naw

Nanbert said...

Right, Patria.

One more remark about the 2021 re-issue of the 2018 LIFE special about Queen....tweaked to note the 30th anniversary of Freddie's death.....yesterday I found some issues sitting in the magazine section of my local supermarket...and bought one for myself. Unfortunately, there was only a brief mention of Adam in it, plus a nice photo of him in performance.

It's definitely time for LIFE to do another special....about Queen and Adam Lambert!!! YES!
