Adam Lambert: American Idol's Most Glamorous Alumnus
He makes for an unlikely pop idol for mainstream America -- after all, he's glam, he's unapologetic, and he's openly gay -- but the onetime American Idol runner-up is the biggest thing to come out of the eighth season of the talent competition, and is well on the path to true superstardom.

I really think that adam will do better as a performer than as a recording artist. He puts on a good show and people will flock to see him perform, which is his forte, but with his spectacular voice I expected his album to match his talent and he has "dummed" it down to fit in with the dumb electronic music of today.

I totally agree anon #1. I love Adam. To me, he is the reason American Idol was created - to find someone just like him. They found him. I don't see much point in carrying on the show. No one will ever be as good as him. But sometimes, on other sites, I'm afraid to even say one criticism of Adam for fear of being mobbed with hate comments. Well, here it is: While I think expectations were unrealistic and unfair to Adam, I think some of his song choices for the cd, such as the dancy "Britany Spears" type songs were a let down for a lot of his fans. They do nothing for his incredible voice, and fans knew it, regardless of whether he likes that type of music or not. Those songs are written for people who cannot sing - not Adam. His voice seems covered up and muted in a lot of his songs, and that's a shame. Now, on the other hand, when he performs those songs, you're right, he is amazing! But potential fans, who didn't watch him on Idol, can't hear or see how great his voice and performance ability is, based on just this cd.
I think his next cd must be different, or his recording days are numbered.(yes, I know how fast it was put together).
Another thing, Adam really needs to stop being so open about his personal business. I'm not talking about just the gay issue. But lets talk about it for a minute. In almost every interview I've seen except the Leno one, Adam has talked about the gay aspect over and over. I've heard him say that he wants it to be about his music and nothing else. Well, he needs to start talking more about the music and less about his personal life. I know Adam is gay already. I love that he's accepted it. Everyone should. But he needs to stop talking about it, because that issue will be all that people remember about him when his name is brought up. I wish interviewers would stop bringing it up also.
I love Adam and I want him to be successful. I want him to be around so I can be a fan for the rest of my life. That's only what this was about.
