Adam Lambert: Starland's fastest-selling 'Idol' -- ever

In a venue that has seen more than its share of 'Idols,' one stands above all.

And his name is Adam Lambert.

Tickets for Lambert's Starland show on June 5th went on sale at 10am yesterday (Monday, April 26th) By 10:20, all of the tickets were gone.

And while it wasn't the fastest-selling show in the venue's history - that honor belongs to rock legends Alice In Chains, who perform at The MAC at Monmouth University on May 20th - it does put Lambert ahead of his American Idol alumni.

A number of Idol contestants have visited Starland over the years. It started in 2005 when Season 4 finalist Constantine Maroulis held his first concert at the venue. Soon after, Season 6 winner Taylor Hicks stopped by Starland. Elliott Yamin performed at Starland in May 2007, while last year, both Davids - Archuleta and Cook - each managed to sell-out the venue.

And though the David sellouts were fast, none went down as quickly as Lambert's. In fact, only a handful of artists - Alice In Chains and Justin Timberlake amongst them - have packed Starland quicker. In fact, on the list of Starland's all-time fastest sellouts, three of the shows are ensemble lineups -- shows made up of multiple artists, often in the name of charity.

So what's next for Lambert and Starland? Well, there's the June 5th show, for one. And on June 22nd, he's performing at Starland's sister venue, the Nokia Theatre Times Square. Those tickets - also expected to sell quickly - go on sale Saturday at 10am.

No, the tickets were gone by 10:01! It was IMPOSSIBLE to get any tickets for this show, and I have a feeling his other shows in the area are going to have the same difficulty. I've been stressing over pre-sales, passwords, whatever for the last few days. It shouldn't be that difficult for his fans to get tickets! Yet you can go onto StubHub and find tickets for this venue at vastly inflated prices. And Starland doesn't even have seats -- it's a standing venue, as is Nokia. There are going to be a LOT of fans (like me) doing their best to get tickets but getting disappointed. I'm tired of videos with poor sound quality - I need to see him, up close and personal! Adam, help your fans!

Anon above me. While we would all love to see Adam in a live concert, what would you have him do for his fans? Buy the tickets himself and sell them to....who? One for you, I'm sure, but then who? Fan 1 wants 6, Fan 2 wants 4, etc. Do you see where I'm going with this. He can't promote, perform, make videos and please everyone. Just how can Adam HELP his fans? Oh, and by the way that ! at the end of your last sentence is like stamping your foot as a two year old would do.

Maybe some maturing is needed on your part. Just saying.

I'm in the same boat as #1. I couldn't buy tickets to see Adam this summer. This sucks!

this is really good fro adam, wish you the best.

anon - 6:07 I don't think 4:34 meant any harm and is probably well aware that Adam himself is not personally responsible for ticket sales - looks as if fans are having more trouble getting tickets than should be warranted. I didn't read foot stamping, I just read honest frustration. I would imagine 19 entertainment will be made aware of any problems rather quickly and hopefully rectify the situation as quickly as possible. Give it a few days.

Adam has more fans wanting to see him than there are tickets for. I knew this was going to happen. He needs to play in larger venues. It's extremely disappointing when everyone wants to see him so badly.

i am not tired of seeing any videos of Adam, i am so grateful for 24/7 for getting their hands on all the videos and pictures etc and are the fastest site for all Adam News and Updates,

Adam has working NONSTOP on his rise to International Stardom what else do you want him to do perform in your living room!!!
this message comes from a UK Fan I love Adam and so admire his commitment to his music career and how wonderful he treats his fans and i am very aware it will become more and more difficult to get tickets, just be grateful for any videos pictures etc and stop being so demanding on ADAM

Honestly, if you want to SEE Adam, you'll probably have to bite the bullet and buy tickets from Stubhub. That's how I got my Idol tour tickets. Yes, you pay more, but this is how the world works. I have a feeling only insiders are going to get the good tickets early on. The rest of us just have to pay--the same way our country works...lol The rich get richer.

I still don't see any tour dates in the south other than Florida, and that's actually further than Kansas. I live in Texas and am just stunned that Adam's management hasn't thought of scheduling anything for Houston or Dallas. And I know there are other states out there that have nothing.

They say there are more concerts to be scheduled, but based on this interview with Adam, it sounds like the rest will be in Europe and not the US.

Note to UK Adam supporters: Not all Americans are bigoted believe it or not. Please don't characterize our country in that manner. We have a huge country with over 300 million people, so you can expect differing opinions. Please show American the same tolerance you're showing towards Adam.

I think the UK is under the impression that most of the US fans and people are rude and judgemental Some do get carried away, but most, including myself are respectful and glad that he's enjoying himself performing for his UK fans. We're happy to share him, but his family and friends are here in the US and we're happy to keep him living here. Some things are said "tongue in cheek" and aren't meant to be taken literally.

I keep holding out hope that Adam will come to the NW - I live in Seattle - but no luck, so far. Yes, everyone wants a piece of Adam now...it's great, it's the way it should be! I am so happy for his success! I hope he starts playing larger venues so more fans can see him, though.

I'm actually glad he doing the smaller venues. The big 15,000+ facilities have terrible sound systems as a rule, and you really can see. I went to the AI concert in Dallas, and the sound was just terrible. It distorted most of the voices. Plus, even though we had reasonably good seats near the stage, I still could see that well. Just too massive.

I guess we all feel as if we somehow gave birth to Adam and are so happy he is doing well.

OK--guess I'm getting tired. I posted the 10:59 crap. what I meant to say is that you cannot see in the larger venues.

We all (worldwide) have to understand that Adam is going through a "rite of passage" now. This is how breakthrough artists start out - smaller venues to test the waters, so to speak. He'll get to the larger arena type settings, but it will take time and a really good fanbase. Also, he needs a few more albums and hit singles out there to add more range to his repertoire. Think how much fun it will be to listen to WWFM and have it be one of his oldies. It won't be all that long before we get an album - The Best of Adam Lambert. We just have to be patient and completely happy for Adam because his fame and career are just taking off.

Carrie Underwood is putting out amazing music, has won so many awards, is making a movie and she's still in the smaller venues.

Patience....it's a virtue

Deus te amat and I do too

Anyone who hasn't already must go to OMRG.ning and join the fansite. It's great and they have a forum where you can buy pre-sale fan tickets.

So, join OMRG and stop crying about tickets being sold out.

Love the US fans but think some of them might be a little resentful because they have'nt had the awesome opportunity of seeing Adam 'up close and personal' like the UK and the rest of the world have! It's understandable and the chance of experiencing these moments probably will be slim in the US now. The rest of the world has been blessed for sure! If only there had been a more loving and accepting attitude prehaps they might not have missed out so much.

since Adam's AMA,s performance and his Amazing and Very Succesful International Tour, our eyes have been opened to the Hostile Attitude America has towards Gay people,i have been very shocked and hurt at the terrible things that have been said about Adam just because he is gay,and it is no good any americans saying theres bigots everywhere in this world, this is the way the world sees your country!! i just hope Adam has plenty of security on his very busy Glamnation tour as i worry about Adam's safety!in america !!
Adam please feel free to live anywhere in Europe so you can be totally free and be yourself without fear!!! Love you so much

PLEASE VOTE GUYS.... We seriously CANT LET Susan get ahead of our brilliant "iconic" superstar. Here are a few tips to make the Time poll voting go faster..... When you type in the security words they are NOT case sensitive. Dont waste time with the caps! Also, a little keyboard shortcut for you....if you hold alt and hit tab several times until you get to the screen you want it makes it faster to go in between whatever applications you have open. I recommend only having 2 or 3 internet pages open AND THATS IT. Use alt tab to go in between them as they reload.
Its our last night to vote....lets go FANS....VOTE VOTE VOTE!!!!

I feel quite sure there is anti-gay sentiment all over the world. It is NOT as Anti-gay in the US as I believe the rest of the world thinks we are. I have always been tolerant of others regardless. Please stop jumping to conclusions about us. We love Adam period. I can totally understand the tremendous frustrations with not being able to get tickets when going on sale at 10 am and not being able to get them at all...and I am sure anyone else would be very sad thinking a pre-order would get them tickets. Just sayin...patience and you will see how big Adam makes it in the US as well as the rest of the world. We don't care about what goes on behind closed doors. Spread and Share the love...

Adam has millions of fans in the US that are not homophobic and love and respect him. Some religious radicals who are in the minority got on several websites and spewed their ignorance. They got a lot of publicity, but they are not the majority of Americans that you would see on the many sites. Please don't judge all of us.Adam lived a happy ,gay life for many years without incident before he became world famous. He loves his friends and family in the US and don't think he would ever give up his country, even though he enjoys UK and every place he's traveled so far. Peace, everyone. funbunn40
