I cried during the performance of Beth last year. Most memorable performance by Adam ever.

It's very difficult for female contestants to overcome the, as we call it among my crew, the "he's sooooo cuuute" tween girl vote.

If Idol wanted to be taken more seriously, in terms of who they actually put forth after excitement of show ended each year, they should have years ago looked into a voting system like that which (I'm told) Dancing with the Stars uses - where there is like a 10 vote limit per line/email/text acct., etc.

I cried too each time i watch this...how can someone so talented and beautiful lost to someone who isn't even better than allison, matt and danny? just because of one song, "heartless"? it's not even original...sigh. oh, well.

Girls never win because women and female tweens only vote. I doubt if men vote at all. I didn't watch Idol this year becasue of the travesty of justice last year when Adam lost. I know Adam has moved on and he will definitely be a megastar but the show isn't credible to me any more. Adam singing Beth was one of three fantastic moments in TV music History. The other two were Adam singing with KISS and singing with Kris and QUEEN.

This season's AI finale will never compare in any way to Season 8 with Adam Lambert. His dynamic performances throughout the shows and the final one with Kiss and then Queen(with Kris Allen)set the bar so high that no one will ever reach it!! I think the reason they did not ask Adam to appear tonight is because he would obviously steal the spotlight from Crystal and Lee and any one else who is scheduled to be on stage. However, as has been shown, you do not have to be the winner to have a successful music career. AI opens doors to these young performers who need that platform to begin their life in the music industry. Good luck to both Crystal and Lee tonight and farewell to Simon.

i want to watch last years final all over again, i loved it so much ( although i was so shocked adam didn't win) if i lived in america i would have voted for adam loads. i'm not bothered who wins this years final,i found this season really boring. no one will ever come close to adam EVER!!!!

To the person at 11:17 am....did you forget Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia Barrino and Jordin Sparks? That's 4 women out of the previous 8 seasons. So to date, it's been 50% girls and 50% boys. No matter who wins tonight, they won't equal Adam's talent or success...but I wish the winner good luck in his or her musical endeavors.

Hey people, go over to popeater.com and blast those suckers, they just published a piece implying that Adam was supposed to perform on the Idol finale tonight and pulled a diva routine (didn't show up to rehearsal), and they claimed that the producers had to cancel him because he might turn in some kind of freaky performance!

This is obviously some kind of weird public relations spin by the AI producers, because everyone is probably wondering why Adam is saying he wasn't ASKED to perform in the finale tonight...

wow what a performance, watched these vid soooo many times but still can't get enough of adam.

Yeh, there are quite a few headlines on the net saying that he didn't show up for rehearsals for the finale so they've cancelled him, that he's pulling a diva routine, and that he wasn't going to be 'family friendly' etc. Even though he tweeted on may18th that he wasn't going to be on.

They're calling Adam a diva!!! Adam is a responsible professional artist. It's too bad that Idol had to spin things this way as Adam has been completely loyal to them. He has complimented and thanked the show at every step, and now they're turning their back.

Idol is history anyway. No need for it with Simon's new show.

Wishing Adam good health as he sets out on his North American tour and then his European venture. He has changed so many people's lives for the good. He has truly made us want to listen to music again.

American Idol couln't let Adam be on the show tonight because, perhaps his performance would make the other Idol contestants look dull in comparison. Kris is supposed to perform tonight, and it wouldn't be fair to him because Adam is by far the stronger presence.

American Idol execs have to cover their A--es to justify what they did last year. No, Adam was not to appear on the finale. They do not want Kris and Adam on the same show. Let's not have them side by side where America can compare them. It wouldn't be fair to Kris. But they don't care if they try to cover their tracks by putting some NASTY story out there to make Adam look bad. That is why I will never watch it again! (Unless Adam happens to be on it)

ALL ADAM's performances on Idol right from his audition have been STELLAR ... nothing less!! I'm sure ADAM would have given a wonderful & most likely understated performance if he had been on the finale. ADAM is a trouper ... he'd NEVER miss a rehearsal even if he was ILL! He didn't miss a performance on AI tour even when he was ill but Kris did!! Remember?

When Adam sings Beth, it is so beautiful. He takes my breath away. And the eyebrow raise at the end. He knew he had us at "hello", didn't he?

Well said anon above. He DID have us at 'hello'. I personally prefer not to second guess AI and instead focus on the positive. Adam would want us to do that. His tweet today said: "Greetings extended Glamily!! Thanks 4 all the Twitter love! I'm so thrilled 2 perform 4 u all face 2 face in the coming months! GlamNation!!"

Let's honor him by being more positive.

I don't believe Idol would say anything negative about Adam . They like him. I'm more inclined to think Popeater made it up or maybe someone on Adam's team got an attitude with Idol. We all know Adam is very responsible. not a diva and would never not show up to an appointment. Adam also has a tight scedule for this tour and I do believe he has strained his voice with all of the rehearsals and appearances lately. funbunn40

Wish he would record a long version of "Beth". It shows off his beautiful melodic voice, much like Mad World. I could listen to it over and over. I love everything he sings. Sigh.... funbunn40

Agree with you funbunn40. I have three versions of Beth on one of my Adam playlists (slo-mo, sparkling, and regular) just to try and pretend I have a full, long version of Adam singing it. I bet I've watched them each 100 times, maybe more.

I have rewatched Beth AGAIN at least 20 times. Adam's every look seduces the audience. He is a MASTER seductor. No wonder we are all crazy for him. Watch the eyes, the facial expression, how he looks right at the audience in a very intimate way. Master, master seductor. I love it!

I agree. I am under his spell. I will be guilty and say that I never watched AI . I saw the recorded finale at a friend house, totaly by accident. When I looked at Adam I was hooked. Then he opened his mouth to sing and I am under his spell ever since.
Adam got me just by the look in this video. I was soooo mad that I didn't watch the season , but when I found out he didn't win, I was actually happy I didn't.
I would have been soooo mad. I still am. , sometimes.
Can't wait ti see him on tour. I wi see him at least twice. So happy!!!
