Wow!!! It's very artistic and sexual and very "dark" in some part. I kind of like it but won't watch all the time. It is unlike adam's vid which you can repeat many times but stiil give you pleasure. My kids won't be watch this for sure.

Wow. I loved it in that it visually and artistically pushed the envelope - and I am all for that. However, every time I watch Gaga I wonder...is she a total Madonna rip-off, or just this generations Madonna? This totally made me think of Madonna's "Like a Prayer"...which was totally edgy, back in it's day.

Will be interesting to see if people freak out. If conservatives are going to freak about anything, seems like it should be Gaga's videos. Anything Adam does (or has done) is tame in comparison to this.

Adam likes the mancandy so in many ways the video succeeded in getting the attention to the intended audience. ;-) Like many pop/dance artist part of the initial marketing tactics begin with DJs that play gay clubs—many artist, producers and famous DJs take direction by what resonates in gay clubs. There is film from the mis-70’s that features Madonna’s “vogue-ing” years before her song. Even “good boy” David Archuleta had major fan issues when he went to see his 17 year-old female friend who was performing her single at a gay club. Logo and the gay clubs were playing and promoting GaGa months before she had her first number 1. I like and respect how GaGa acknowledges gay influence in her presentation. And frankly, there is a semi-silent female contingent that just likes the idea of two guys together. Just sayin

because of all this soft porn image. They dont even bother to understanfd the story behind it. I live in Canada, we do have gay couple story book in the community library if kid interest in this topic which they can adknowledge the issue in a healthy way. I like Gaga music in the beginning, but now I think she is leading our new generation into another level of sexuality. There is a lot of negativity energy you can feel in the video which also drawn to our kids nowaday.

I'm usually not a fan for female pop singers like Britney, Beyonce, Pink, etc... but I am always interested in what Gaga has to show in her videos. She's like the most interesting pop icon in years since Madonna.

I think I may have to watch this a few times before I can decide what I really feel about it. My initial reaction was very mixed - I had heard her say that it was to honor the gay community and expected that and I can see the art in it but I too kept seeing a rehash of Modonna - & I have never loved religious "satire", not even when Modonna did it many, many, years ago. I can get the inferences but I actually think Modonna did it better. I do like GaGa and believe she is very talented, but I sometimes think her talent may be hidden by shock value.
I do however, think it continues a long overdue discussion, if you will, about acceptance in this society, and maybe she is just the right person to do that so, as I said,I will have to view this a few times before I make a decision out of hand. To be honest, I did not love this song when I first heard it and am not sure I really "get it", maybe I am not really supposed too.

Strangely, though many panned it, I liked her uncut performance on Idol better. I thought the imagery, particularly the razor blade covered piano, the trees, were quite mesmerizing. I also didn't care for having those gorgeous men in the ridiculous hair, heels, stockings, etc, though I understand after you explained it to me-it had to be explained, because I sure couldn't get it from watching the video. GaGA has such a beautiful voice, is so creative and talented, and some of the imagery in here is just stunning. But there is a lot of miss in here in my opinion, too. I wouldn't say it was a home run. I'd give it a 3 out of 5 stars.

It may be because I come from a very religious country but I did NOT like the mixture of way too much erotics with the church (crosses, rosary). I just think she went too far. I understand she was trying to make a message but did it have to be like this. and I'm bored with her dancing around almost naked. She's trying too hard to be Madonna, who she never will be. And I am a Gaga fan, just not necessarily of this video.

I agree with ADAM ... beautifully shot video w/lots of mancandy ... but that's all. The song is TOO monotonous bodering on BORING!! IMO ... THIS is NOT music. Although there were sexual overtones I wasn't offended by any of them. BUT .. I WAS offended by the RELIGIOUS overtones. Sorry ... I will only continue to watch ADAM videos whenever they are shown on TV. This one along with all of Lady Gaga videos ... I will simply change the channel like I have been doing. Her artistry does not appeal to me. No offense intended!

If you haven't seen the video- go now. The video is dark, creepy, and edgier than Telephone. The video really is all about the gays. The plot line may seem blurred and confusing, but I assure you it is there. I've watched it three times now and here is what I THINK is the story-line/motive. It begins with Alejandro's coffin being carried, and Lady GaGa has his heart. I believe Alejandro was killed by the gay soldiers for being straight. (Sort of a reversal from reality). Lady GaGa takes over the army and becomes the commander-and-chief of the army. Sort of parallel to Hitler or Joan of Arc. She trains the soldiers, and forces them to be straight. She tries to get revenge on them for killing Alejandro, and tries to force them to love her. However, in the end they revolt and kill her. Now this, is what I believe is the BASIC plot line. However, there is much deeper symbolism.

For one, when the soldiers are training, video clips from what I believe is the stonewall riots is playing in the background. For those who don't know the StoneWall Riots were a turning point in the gay rights movement. It was where the gay community got together and fought back after brutal killings of gays by policeman. It was the first major event of the gay "Revolution" and caused quite a stir. More of this is shown in the end when we see Alejandro while he was alive walking through a burning city.

While one of the gay soldiers is sitting on the bed trying to decide to kill Lady GaGa she puts a black crucifix in her mouth and done her throat symbolizing how religion persecutes the gay lifestyle and shoves their beliefs done their throats. In the end Lady GaGa dies a painful death for persecuting the gays and the soldier sitting by her bed is able to finally come out and be himself.

Just my theory, but it makes sense. I say she will officially reveal the story-line sometime tomorrow. This video is now my favorite. And it couldn't have come at a better time. The video's main purpose is to condemn the US Army for their policy of
"Don't Ask, Don't Tell". She's saying that gay men are just as powerful and affectionate as straight men. With the recent vote to repeal "DADT" I think the video really fits into modern politics. It's so much more serious and meaningful than her other videos. I give it a 10/10, but of course I would.

Did anyone besides me notice that all the guys have the same hair style .. like MOE from the Three Stooges? just sayin' ...

Anonymous 2:43 is over analyzing and needs to get a life. Gaga has said many times that sex sells, whether gay or straight, and that is the motivation of this video, and all her videos. Shock value? She is trying. Artistry? Not so much. Her schtick is staring to get very old very fast.

Everything about Gaga is artistry. If she's getting old, why is she the most popular and famous pop icon in the world right now? She's breaking record left and right and influences everyone everywhere she goes. Gaga is an inspiration to everyone.

Gaga's shock factor is over-riding her talent in the video. Music should be enjoyable, not this dark (sexually and politically)and uncomfortable. I hope Adam won't follow her footstep as a shock art singer. But I trust his instinct by listening to all his acoustic settings. He will be the one he always want to be.

Won't get all political, but if you folks don't understand how many intelligent, skilled, highly trained, and useful military service men and women have been forced out of service to this country due to DADT, you should spend some time informing yourselves. Like others here, my first thoughts of this video led me to Madonna....risk taker, always putting herself out there, and always stirring the pot. Do I like it? so/so...the lyrics border on monotony and not enough substance. Anon at 2:43 has summed it up pretty well, however, I just feel it could have somewhat of a different overtone. But in saying that, I also realize that it's GAGA we talking about here and she is definitely willing and able to continue pushing everyone's buttons. I feel the video has served her purpose and that is to get people to stop, look, listen and learn; it grabs your attention one way or another and starts communication! Looks good on her and I didn't expect any less.

I love the song; however the video for me is a bit overboard. I do love the dancing part of the video...I always enjoy good dancing. The bed scenes are a bit over the line for me too however if Adam did that all hell would break loose I am sure of it. She is such an artist I just wish the story behind that song wasn't just about sex and more about the love story. I am sure some would argue with that. I am not bashing this video; I just think she has an amazing voice and story to tell and this goes a little far for me.

I'm glad that Adam enjoyed the mancandy, but the video didn't do much for me. I'd heard this song in her album and did not like it..what's the point of the song? I know some ppl said it's not about a Mexican affair it's about a gay/straight affair but was I supposed to understand that when all I hear is Alejandro, Alejandro, Roberto,Fernando, Alejandro ..you get the picture, it's catchy but shallow, I don't get any of that deep thing when I hear this song and when I saw her performance on AI9, I loved the piano version of Bad Romance but still didn't like the song so I assumed she wrote it for fun or something...

I prefer to watch Adam's videos! While Gaga's videos have current social issues messages I prefer to be ENTERTAINED by Adam's beautiful voice and truly artistic messages of love and joy.

If you want to see something dark and true and beautiful, watch Johnny Cash's "Hurt" video. I can't watch it without crying.
