Adam Lambert's new single "If I Had You" is #44 on Top 40 chart

This week on the Top 40 chart, Adam Lambert continued to be the best among "American Idol" artists -- however, that doesn't mean that he's made his way into the chart's coveted upper plateau just yet.
According to the latest Sunday morning update from Mediabase, "If I Had You" is currently charting at #44 with 675 spins. This is a pretty substantial increase of 146 spins from the week before, and it could be a sign that Adam's music video is starting to help bring in more requests for the song.
If Adam keeps up this sort of progress, we will likely see him directly in the Top 40 over the next two weeks. He is less than 100 spins away from Diddy - Dirty Money's "Hello Good Morning", which is currently sitting at #40.
So what's topping the chart this week? Katy Perry has managed to have one of the quickest #1 hits in pop history with "California Gurls", which packed on over 1,500 spins in the past week before finishing at over 11,300 for the week. It is an intriguing testament to the modern music climate, where catchy hooks and A-list collaborations have huge weight (Like Adam, Katy also recently released a music video.)
