Slash was on twitter a few hours ago and he was talking about American Idol with his fans. He said Adam is "great" but American Idol is a "crock". Thank you Slash!

"Rock & Roll needs a serious shot in the arm. That said, there is no way in hell its going to come from AI. Iii|; p "

"Yes, I did AI once, Adam Lambert was great, but the show itself is a crock. Iii|; )"

WOOTS!! Love that man!! In other news, is it true that Crystal Bowersox has ALREADY been dropped by her label?? Shes been tweeting up a storm...

AI jumped the shark with Adam.

(I hsve no doubt that if Adam had released a rock album it would have been a howling sucess, but this isnt what Adam wanted, maybe a few more rock tracks on the next album would be good,.Personally I love the likes of "Soaked" "Broken Open" etc. In saying that I love everything that comes out of his mouth. Not to mention his hotness.

I love that Adam did different music on his CD

I don't think there is one song I don't like and that is saying alot ...usually I can find one or two songs on a CD....he's amazing!!!!

Does he mean Adam can't do much in Rock And Roll don't quite get the message. English is not my first language.

We all know American Idol has a big flaw! Exibit (a) Adam Lambert being only 2nd... HELLO! and other winners in the past, where are they now? They should change it cuz it's broke. The ultimate call should be from those who knows the industry and not the public... lol Good business for AT&T from voters but the end result is false most times.
I've said this before, Adam left such a high benchmark that AI will never be the same. :(

Slash is saying, he only did AI because of Adam Lambert & thinks he is great.

Urethra_Franklin said...

5:07 no he isnt implying anything negative about Adam. He adores Adam. Hes simply slamming Idol as hard as he can.

Love the direct language...yes a crock of sh*t. Agree totally. Didn't Slash come to Adam's last B-day party? 8th Season has Slash, Queen, Kiss. Ya think they showed up for Kris or Danny? Don't want to start a battle, but those guys recognize real talent, and that was Adam clear and simple. Jennifer Lopez says they are looking for the next Michael Jackson. Good luck guys. Wonder if you would recognize it if it hit you in the face. Maybe with new panel. The whole audition process is broken. How close did Adam come to not even making it to Hollywood with Simon's narrow view! If music didn't fit his style, he threw it out. Simon's style is Subo, Il Divo--not rock or current pop. That was obvious. Glad he's gone. Whatever Adam does is fine with me. Just want to hear more of him whatever style he wants to do.

Adam said once in an interview, that he was a little slow to try out for AI because he didn't know if he could take the criticism. I think anyone could take the criticism he got throughout the show. He was loved from beginning to end. Even if Smon didn't like his song, he still said it was sung well, and was in a league of his own.

Pardon my ignorance, but what does woots stand for?

The Dark Side said...

Yeah, I'm stumped with woots too. Adam did the R&R on Idol, because it was part of the Idol thing. Now he is doing his own thing, which is pop, with a rock edge. During the entire process of Idol, Adam was slammed for being too theatrical or too Broadway. But look at the visuals and stunning performances he is able to do because of his theatricality. Daughtry is doing well as a rocker, but I agree with Slash, where are the genuine rockers stars today? They ain't out there baby. Unless, Adam wants to turn rocker dude, it ain't happening.

The Dark Side said...

p.S. Good thing AI saying no more mentors. Well Slash only went on because of Adam (his words) at the time,so chance of him being asked back now are slim to none. Love you Slash, always have!!!

WOOT???????? Hey, waiting on someone to Woot us the answer to just what is a Woot!! I think it is like saying "yea, baby" or YEA!! or Right ON" or Hot. Adjective maybe? Or making a statement? Please send us the proper meaning for the word. Or the slang. Thanks..

See link for definition of "woot"

Adam is the utmost entertainer...Slash loves his style and adam can sing anything....I thank AI for choosing him for the show, it will never be the same and it was Kara who said "Yes, theatrecal
but we are looking for singers and he is one"..You bet he is the greatest since Elvis....that was the 50 generation and Adam is this generation....

Anonymous said...

The term "w00t" is a slang interjection used to express happiness or excitement, usually over the Internet.

Anonymous said...

I looked up the link, and "woot" has been generalised to mean "accomplishment"

Anonymous said...

What the woot is going on??? I am over the woot about AI's new judges, not. I woot to do about it. To woot or not to woot? Now that is thre question.

Anonymous said...

Gee, wasn't it Simon who critiqued Adam's Ring of Fire as "self indulgent rubbish?" Enough said. I'm glad he's gone and I wish they had let Randy go too. Though he IS a musician, his critiques were meaningless babblings, Dawg. One of my favorite mentorings was the appearance of Slash. Loved Guns and Roses and Velvet Revolver, and the work he did with Michael Jackson. Love Steven Tyler too. I own all of Aerosmith's albums. For me, the first thing they need to do is revamp and revise the voting system, so that the pros are half of the vote and the public is allowed only a certain amount of votes per program, like 5.

Anonymous said...

I'm wootin' for Slash. Wiser words were never spoken. Talents like Lambert, Daughtry, Iraheta and probably a few others almost slipped through. Benign prevails in the AI game. A true hardcore rocker wouldn't make it past auditions.

The voting system won't be changed. It would be perceived as an admission that it was susceptible to manipulation, creating a potential liability. It would reduce AT&T's revenue as well.

I'm still hoping for an Adam x Slash duet.

Adam wants to do rock. He's doing what sells right now to get established in the biz. 3rd album will be more rock than pop. He introduces his band as "my rock band"

Anonymous said...

Ok guys I don't know if you'll be able to read my comment cuz I'm sort of late on this. Anyhow, I got a twitter DM from Velvet Revolver drummer @mattsorum saying that Rock N Roll is built around freedom of expression. I think the world of rockers are kind of pissed off that Steven Tyler sold himself to AI. That's why Slash tweeted about it and that the only good thing came out of this show is Adam Lambert. I support AI because it gave us Adam. I went on AI website yesterday and today and I noticed Adam's album is advertised randomly on different webpages of AI. I know we are pissed off because of AI8 result but from business point of view we should support the show because we got Adam. I won't vote ever again cuz I found my Idol but I think to support the show it'll help Adam in the long run, IMO.

According to Urban Dictionary "woot" originated as a hacker term for root access to a computer. The term then became a truncated gamer term of "wow, toot!" in Dungeons and Dragons. So now it is used simply as a term of excitement.
Woot! Adam is the King of Glam Rock!
( uh...that was my own example...it is not in the dictionary yet)

In my country the most succesful artists that came from Idol were runner ups. Nobody made a big deal out of it. Why do Glamberts make such a terrible fuss about this? Did you put a lot of money in the voting or something.

Slash talking trash......WOOT!!

In the Rolling Stone (mag) write up on who should be AI judges, they named Adam as No. 4 and Slash among them too. If you look at the site, Adam's picture appears like 4 times, with Gene Simpson and Adam at the Finale, and picture of Adam and Mum, in the picture with Slash, and another picture with other AI8 candidates. What I am trying to say is Adam is still very much associated with AI maybe more of the latter's choice than his or his fans. But of JLO is looking for Michael Jackson, Steven Tyler looking for a rocker and Randy looking for the greatest Idol ever - guys you are rather late! That's Adam you are talking about!

Nobody is irreplaceable, not even Adam.

When with sweet Adam on AI-8th, Slash gave him an advice: «try not to improvise so much on high notes...» (something like that) and sweet Adam agreed. May be it was an advice just for AI performances? Because sweet Adam continuously IMPROVISES ON HIGH NOTES and does it perfectly!!! As an example, watch to the video on the thread «checking sound in Paylupp» (sorry for the misspelling). Beeeaaaautiful improvisation on high notes in Soaked!!! Or if you prefer, pay attention to Aftermath, Strut and Sleepwalker performances lately... not to mention 20th Century Boy...

Well, Slash, I hope it was an advice only for AI'ears. Or I'd say you should give more credibility to someone YOU KNOW is good as glamhell!

Sweet Adam, don't pay attention to this kind of advice any more... believe me, Diamond Boy: no one improvises better than you on a high note! Amazing sounds for your fans's ears! Or should I say «GLAMWOOT good»! Lol

I don't care that much of the high notes. I think that's for the snobs. Queen appealed for that kind of intelligent group of people though. Robbie Williams may not be the best singer, but his songs are meaningful and have a feeling you can connect. Robbie Williams has performed with Queen too. He sang We are the Champions xD

Anonymous said...

Oh sorry, not sure if Robbie has performed that on stage together with Queen, but Brian May plays guitar on his Eternity single and that makes in my opinion a good song for the Glamnation withdrawal symptoms..

Anonymous said...

The words of the "Legendary Slash"! Right down the line! Awesome!

Anonymous said...

@ Anonymous 1:25AM

Sweet Adam NEVER sounds snobbish when reaching a high note. That is just one more of his countless talents that, thanks God, he decided to share with all good ears on this planet (may be also on other planets... he reaches sooo high!).

AI (via Simon) always said that the purpose was to discover the kind of talent with true, lasting, World wide star quality. In 9 seasons, they did it 4 times in my opinion - Kelly, Carrie, Chris D. and ADAM!! Who knew how that last one would out dazzle anyone who came after him he did and they need to stop now and put energy into new ventures. Listen to Slash, AI - he KNOWS!!

The Dark Side said...

Actually, Adam improvises on all levels, high and low--and it is all awesome. Think prior post right on, Rockers feel Tyler selling out. These genuine rocker dudes feel it's a fraternity and low anyone who steps over that line. Joe Perry first to show his disdain by knocking Tyler off the stage. Unfortunately, Slash one of the younger rockers out there, Tyler and company now older than the hills. Robert Plant, still rockin the long hair looks worse than Tyler. I read somewhere that Slash recommended Adam's new drummer. Already there is a much more R&R sound to his band. Stay tuned train wrecks ahead.!

As much as America gets it wrong and AI should revamp its voting process, they never will since TV is all about the money and much money is generated by the current voting system.

coloforadam said...

2:49pm - oh, you are so right. Silly me expounding that they are all about finding talent - they are all about money and if they can squeeze out a few more sorta-seasons, they will do it. Outside the judges, I hope they got a new team of screeners who pick who will make up the group of contestants. Really, the season 8 people interesting, varied, spunky and Adam just made them shine, in addition to himself. That's what I would like to see him help with - get into the production side and show them how to kick up a great season with unique contestants, genre/band choices and SETS!! He would be stellar and could do while doing other stuff.
