Adam Lambert Grammy submissions revealed

Although we do not currently know as of yet if Adam Lambert will be nominated for any Grammys this year, we have at least found out what categories 19 Entertainment and RCA have submitted the "American Idol" singer in for consideration.

Let's take a look at these individually.

* Best New Artist: This is going to be an extremely competitive category this year, but you have to believe Adam has a serious shot. Justin Bieber and Ke$ha are more than likely locks for this, and some of the other potential nominees could include B.o.B, Tiao Cruz, Mike Posner, and Florence and the Machine. Considering Adam's high profile, odds are high when it comes to this one. (Bruno Mars is not eligible this year, since his new album released just past the end of the window.)
* Best Short-Form Music Video - "Whataya Want From Me:" Since this song was such a major hit, you have to give it a chance. Can it beat some of Lady Gaga's hits in here? It could be tough -- he will also face strong competition from Bieber, Eminem, and Katy Perry (all of whom had memorable videos this year).
* Best Male Pop Vocal - "Whataya Want From Me:" This category gives Adam a pretty strong chance at a nomination. Bieber will surely get a nod here, and outside of that the Grammys could go in the direction of Jason Derulo, Michael Buble, or someone much more obscure.
* Song of the Year - "Time For Miracles" and "For Your Entertainment:" It likely would take a miracle for a nomination to happen here. Neither song managed to be a particularly major hit on the radio, and you actually have to wonder why one of the major hits was not submitted.
* Record of the Year - "Whataya Want From Me:" This is the big one. Adam had a huge hit with this song, so there is a chance at a nomination. It will really come down to what direction the Grammys decide to go. Gaga and Eminem are sure things, and it also would not be a surprise for them to honor Perry or someone in the country world.

What awards do you think Adam has the best shot at winning?

Best new artist and Song of the year. However, I am just hoping that he will be nominated and that politics doesn't rear it's ugly head. We have had Bieber shoved down our throats at every turn, and to understand that it's all about marketing and not about talent if disheartening to say the least. Adam deserves these nominations on talent alone. Guess we'll see, and prepared to be disappointed as usual. Too negative--probably, but it's kinda of what it is.

I happen to be online right when this Examiner article came out and posted link in previous 24/7 threads cuz I'm interested in hearing people's thoughts - but personally, I just can't even go there... don't see it happening, but would LOVE to be proven WRONG of course!

oh yes Dark Side - just a nomination would be mindblowing, a nom is all I would even dream of allowing myself to hope for, and I'm really not even allowing myself that cuz I don't see it happening. The Grammy's, specifically of all of these scenarios, are supposed to be about talent, right? Seriously, I'm asking. MGF

guess I don't need the possesive apostrophe s in Grammys, sorry :). MGF

I think Best New Artist and Best Male Pop Vocal are the most likely to happen if they in fact happen. He deserves at least to be nominated.

Nuttin is going to happen. Sry guys. They are still punishing Adam. Adam's management just not doing it for him.

If this were a singing contest, he would get most everything. It's not. It's a popularity contest, so Adam is shit out of luck. Too many people hate him.

At this time, I would just be happy if he's nominated! Florence and the Machine was on DWTS the other nite (which I watched since FYE was suppose to be danced to but wasnt). They did an acoustic song which IMO was lousy but thought how wonderful Adam would have performed! I hear that Miley Cyrus (Spelling?) was on in the past so know that a lot of younger artists are now going on that show. Maybe 2 years ago, the first I heard of Chris Brown was on this show. Adam would kill if he does an acoustic performance sitting on a stool in the middle of a stage with just a light on him. Adamluv

Best New Artist is the only one I care about. Hes the most deserving on that list THATS FOR SURE! I keep having flash backs of when Xtina beat Britney for Best New Artist. With that throat of hers, she was the right winner. I feel the same for Adam. That throat of his will take him FAR!

That's not it, not the issue 1:01pm

I think Best New Artist and Best Male Pop vocal are the two catagories Adam has the best chance of being nominated in. The others are a far stretch but he diserves all of them. :)

I think WWFM could win for Besr Video, Song of The Year, and Record of The Year. I think those are his best chances. If the AMAS and the GRAMMYS don't invite ADAM to perform on their shows, they are making a big mistake.

He deserves to be nominated for all of the awards. Most importantly, he deserves to win the awards. No one has a better singing voice. He has the vocals, showmanship and musicality. Since the Grammys are so prestigious, this would be validation for the great work he has done. Grammys = vocal ability, so Adam should be nominated and win for these awards. He is a singer first and foremost; nothing else should get in the way of that. It is his time. He should sing "Time for Miracles" and knock everyones socks off. I really hope that he is recognized. He is the best singer out there!

America does wrong for Adam , sorry i use to love America , now not so much , has a ugly face for me ,Adam has us , theier fan, on radios to support him as much as we could , evryone in his country , because if he is played on tv on radio people will know him , his popularity will grow , i saw now has his page artist on BBC

of course he deserves a lot of awards not only nominations , is the greatest artist of today

well this is it guys, the last of the music shows. Adam has had a remarkable year, better than ever expected. We all know that. I love him to death, only seen him twice but I am not getting my hopes up with any nominations. We have all been let down every single award show, I think when adam has another 2nd killer album under his belt maybe they can start taking him seriously. We all do, we all love him, but the sad truth is america is into the lip-syncing, auto-tuned no talent today singers. It's what SELLS. If adam continuies on this path, there will be know avoiding him guys, it takes time. I personally have not watched MTV , I won't be watching AMA or grammies if they don't even acknowlege him, but really is that going to make any difference?

personalidad.
Seria FANTASTICO que esto sucediera.

I think Adam should get the best new artist, best single, record of the year awards,& ALL of them. He's the BEST for sure.Of course,he won't get them all,but one would be great & also to perform on the show.I just love"Time for Miracles"& that song would show off his vocal range so much for any people who've never heard him sing it.

Anonymous said...

In a perfect musical world Adam would win every award. One performer I hope gets nothing is M%M ( I know this isn't how you spell his name - I just don't like him.) I especially dislike Slim Shady which is probably his true character. I hope because of Adam bashing of the lyrics in another song he will be excluded.
I wish anyone who has to lip sync during live performance because of auto tuning should be not be allowed (LOSERS)- that pretty much leaves Michael B. and Lady G. and ADAM!

Ten years ago, we have idol from far east with similar vocal ability as Adam but much less appeal on his look and showmanship, he was able to get most music award shows for the next few years backhome. It is sad to witness such talent as Adam being treated like this in America. Sigh, what can we do? Just wish the best for him and support him until my last breath on earth. Well, I am still have many years to come as a big Adam fan from very far east.

I think that not only could he be nominated, I think that Adam could actually win best Pop male vocal. The Grammys are political, but not in the same way as the AMA's. There are artist voters for the Grammys in addition to the business side. There is a focus on gay issues on several fronts at the moment that could for once work in Adam's favor, and they might want to acknowledge his historic accomplishment as a successful gay new artist. Obviously, he is in another league, make that planet, above anyone else talent-wise, but there is a weird chemical mix that produces the final outcome in some of these categories. I would prefer a nomination and win in this category to best song. It seems like Pink would take credit for best song, and Adam would graciously give it. I seriously doubt he could win best new artist, but could get a nomination.

Anonymous said...

That's fantastic news!!!
That's how you win them! If you don't submit an entry then you don't win! Simple as that! :)

I wish Adam gets nominated and then win most of his entries! (fingers crossed)

Anonymous said...

Why would they submit the two most obscure songs (in the US at least) for "Song of the Year"?!?!? Well, I suppose FYE isn't "obscure", but it was not well received here. WWFM is a much better choice, or IIHY. Although I don't know what the "cutoff" date for release is, so maybe it didn't qualify. Agree with others that these are not VOCAL awards, or Adam would walk away with ALL catagories. Sony/Ent 19 isn't doing Adam any favors here. Talk about being set up for failure. Florence and the Machine? Why do people want to reward mediocrity? I, too am sick to death of Beiber. Let's shave his head and see how popular he is then! Sorry, but I have wanted to say that for a Loooonng time! Rants aside, I think his best shot is Male Pop Vocal or New Artist. Either way, congrats Adam for the submissions.

I wish with every fiber of my being that Adam would at least get a nomination. We know he deserves to win everything.

When Adam was being interviewed about his It Gets Better video, he said he has goggled his name and seen the hateful comments about himself. Adam knows the score unfortunately (sigh, sob). Bigotry runs so deep. It's easier to promote the Disney/Beiber gang. But when it comes to Eminem (yuk), I just don't get it. It must be all about the money I guess.

HH, gracias por sus comentarios! thanks for your comments! The music critic for the LA Times, whose name slips me at this time, reviewed gagas performance a couple of months ago and was disappointed since she lip-sync some songs. I mention this since her name came up in a post above. Adamluv

I agree with the comment above. And unfortunately it is not about talent he would win hands down otherwise,

Anonymous said...

Sorry it was the comment at 2.36 I was referring to.
I just dont get it either, he has had to fight for everything that he has acheived. Maybe the "Idol" Adam was what they wanted.

Anonymous said...

As we all know, Adam can not be "box". I think he rather not having the awards but be true to himself. Hope he receive "something" from the music industry as he work so hard in this couple years. You never know what he will do, he give up his theater career to come to idol. I hope he wont face the same choice in the next few years. Keep the finger cross!

all i can say is those artist who didn't join the singing contest were lucky especially that justin beiber who ever he is. Imagine if he joins probably he would be in the first trial and that's it goodbye he!he!. I'm a Canadian but I don't like his voice at all ha!ha!ha! It's Adam and only him amennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

adam - for best new artist and best single awards but i don't hold my breath. he surely deserves it though.

I think Adam should win them All!! :) I,m behind him 100% :) Katie

Is there anyway to find out who are these 150 acadamey member voters? Maybe we can suck up their butts to vote for Adam on all these catagories. Just a thought!

Did you know, the plaid shirt guy who won microphone trophy on AI8 got three songs submission for Best Male Pop Vocalist? If there is any type of politics involved then Christian hardliners might lobby for him to get nomination in this category!?

Anonymous said...

Who is the plaid shirt guy? Anyone can tell me please?

Anonymous said...

I didn't know you had to be nominated for receive nominations for Grammy Awards, but Adam's a legitimate contender for all the categories he's up for. Only I can't understand why the song nominations are for FYE and TFM instead of WWFM and IIHY. That only makes sense if RCA/Sony thinks that a weak nomination for Best Song might strengthen BB's chances for winning in another category. (Why they might think that, who knows?)

The fact that fans can't vote for Grammys might work in Adam's favor. Only members of the Recording Academy can vote for the awards. Grammy.com says that voting members of the Academy are "professionals with creative or technical credits on six commercially released tracks (or their equivalent)" -- in other words, anyone who's ever released a record can vote for the Grammy Awards, including technical professional like producers, mixers, and arrangers. We've never heard anything but the highest praise for Adam from these people; most can't wait to work with him.

On the other hand, Grammy voters have a reputation for making more mainstream than edgy choices, and Adam's anything but mainstream. But if winning a Grammy has anything at all to do with talent, Adam should be taking at least one of those babies home with him. I don't see anything like the Taylor Swift lovefest of a year or two ago happening for Adam, but IMHO the Grammys will have NO credibility if Adam's not part of them.

Adam is an amazing artist, and a good-looking young man with endless talent. His voice is incomparable, and his style impeccable. His spirit, his message and his ability to communicate are traits to be admired. His versatility will afford him many opportunities, and he will be successful with or without awards.
He may make it as big as say Elvis (sadly a likely side effect of his orientation), but I know that I will continue to support him in any way I can afford, and for as long as I'm around.

I'm not going to get my hopes up.

I have this feeling Adam's going to be snubbed by the Grammys. :(

I mean, QUEEN, Elvis etc never won an emmy in their lifetime.

It is crazy to even be having this discussion. Adam is so superior to most of the crap out there. It's all political just like all the award shows. His management sucks. Just not doing their job.

laurieb said...

its too bad there wasnt a fan favorite award..made by the fans.we know Adam would win by a landslide.

Anonymous said...

Let me just throw out there, that I was talking to my 16-year-old son the other day asking him what singers he likes. He is well aware of how much I enjoy Adam and even acknowledges his vocal talent. However, I was surprised to hear him say it doesn't matter whether or not the artist can sing well or not, it matters whether he likes the song, lyrics, etc., especially the beat. I firmly believe this is how most teens today decide whether to download a song. It has nothing to do with actual vocal talent, which explains the explosion of the rap/hip hop genre and "artists" like Kesha.

Wow, First of all I'm THRILLED to read that there ARE Grammy submissions for Adam, YAHOOOO.
This has to be so exciting for him...He is SOOO deserving of several nominations. My head is spinning, but I had to come post SOMETHING.

Even though overjoyed at first, I do have to agree with some of the concerns some of you have posted, so I'm somewhat cautious. But also I have to say way underneath it all, to quote Ben Crenshaw, winning 99 USA Ryder Cup golf team coach "I've got a good feeling about this, that's all I'm gonna say"

Urethra , lol, you rock. same memory exactly flashed through my mind!--Maybe that's a good sign. Xtina clearly the underdog at the time but also clearly the better voice, standing in the aisle, open mouthed, stunned that she won.

Some of the categories WILL be extremeley tough, but I honestly feel Adam has a shot at all of them. I'm certainly hoping for Best New Artist, Best Male Pop performance. Damn, Record of the year, even credit for Pink--FINE. She wrote it, but everyone knows ADAM sang the hell out of it. Video...sure why not, it was a GREAT video well done in good taste.

Confused about "Time For Miracles" which I LOVE, and would LOOVVVE to have him sing LIVE and blow people's minds-AND their socks off! No one can hit that incredibly high note at full volume from complete silence. No one but Adam, the audience will be in shock, and awe.
What a perfect "Grammy" moment. h u s h. . .

I would think TFM should be better meant for "Song written for a Motion Picture"? (could the article writer have confused the category? But that wouldn't explain FYE)
I was beyond heartbroken when this wonderful song and spectacular performance did not qualify for an OSCAR because of timing. Ugh! In my perfect world maybe it was inteneded for the Grammys' instead. This is the ultimate happy ending... and several gold gramaphone thingy awards sitting on Adam's mantle!

Elvis did win some Emmys in his lifetime, but they were all for gospel recordings. He should have won many more. Adam deserves to win any and every award out there...he is so phenominal. Let's hope he can break through the politics and narrow-mindedness and be honored often and justly for his talent.

You know, when I look on all of resalts of Jingle Balls votes including Rio, and I see the people vote for Adam more than for anybody else, except AC/DC in Rio, I don't think all of these nominations and awards worth anything compare with people love. Adam has fans around whole world. If we could vote for GRAMMY nominations, I guess Adam would get all awards.

i think we are all in a bed mood , let's see just what he was capable to realize in just a year , we want him to do in sec what all the others was doing in many years , not Elvis , not Freddy . In your first year to have a platinum cd , yours international headlining tour with so much succes a 70k audience in Toronto , 32k in Tampa , 16k in Malaysia when big names were cancel theier gigs , big hits played all over the world and a huge fanbase i think is a big rezult for any artist. let's dont talk about jb and ke$a , behind them are those who make money , they are not singers , they are some dolls.Adam has talent , nobody can take'it and people loves him , if he is smart enough and i think he is first are the fans and the honours will come , just we dont press him to much , is still human , just how much he worked this year , the pressure after AMA and all haters to not to be to much for him
i love Adam and i want to entertain me many years from nou on

Anonymous said...

I'm hoping he's nominated for Best New Artist & Best Male Pop Vocal. Much as I wish he would win, as he deserves, I would be shocked if he did. But a nomination or two and a performance on the broadcast would be great exposure. That's not too much to hope for is it?

Anonymous said...

anon 2:16 that is a VERY good point you made about the current gay/bullying issues that have been surfacing lately...I truly hope this is taken into account. Besides, I just dont understand running the risk of getting so many fans upset just because Adam didn't have the commercial success of other mainstream acts. I mean how much of an upset would it really be if he was awarded a grammy? 'Oh lets give it to the guy who can actually sing/dance/perform and has professional experience, what a crazy idea taht would be!' Just sad. yes that would upset fans of the other nominees but in the end they can't deny that Adam is extremely talented and this is what got him his recognition. On the other hand, neglecting him will just cement the idea that talent is irrelevant and it really is a popularity contest based on market appeal, sales etc...that to me seems like a really shitty message to send out to the rest of the world so I hope he is given at least one nom. Ultimately though we all know he is loved by his fans and that is better than any trophy.

Adam says it himself so perfectly (and the interview below...)

"Especially nowadays with record companies going through some struggles, they really want performers and artists who are straight down the middle, commercial, easy to sell and advertise. "

wow, you people clearly have too much time on your hands to argue on this. I say, win or lose Adam for me would be best new artist. I really don't care about the nominations. And I really don;t get it why he has to work 10x much harder than all these crappy artists (kesha, beiber, shit and crap). i say he needn't worry about these BS awards and just concentrate on his music, fans and most of all his happiness.

TFM was eligible for an Oscar nomination as it wasn't actually written for the film. Apparently it was written by a guy for his wife who was diagnosed with cancer.

I agree with you ZZ. Adam's happiness is all that matters. What matters to me the most is Adam's happiness. For someone who is so inspirational & loving & beautiful & so gifted with a musical voice, there is absolutely no one out there ,that can compare.
would the grammys be his moment of truth in this world? I don't know, only the higher power or God,knows. Our love for this amazing human being is the highest award anyone could recieve. We know Adam & he knows how we feel about him, we are his loving & passionate fans. I pray that maybe an award may be won here for our BB, our rockstar, superstar, who we've watched being born. Adam is in a league of his own, & the award for such a true gifted vocalist does not exist in this commercialized world. The love we have for Adam & the love he has for us , his fans, does exist, & it is magical & it is a miracle!!!

Hey there HK fan =)
Yes you're right about the back-story about Time For Miracles. To clarify, yes it WAS written PREVIOUSLY by the couple for themselves but **NOT written specifically FOR the film.** It fit the film well, but "pre-existed" which is why it did NOT qualify... =(
I just posted it as 'timing' to save space above ..see how lengthy these posts can get. =}

It's happened a few times where great songs were overlooked / techinical red tape or 'existing' songs won --- How rediculous was "Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head" it had N O T H I N G to do with the movie. After that disaster the rule got changed... it's still confusing.

Adam knew going into production that TFM was purely for the soundtrack and not going to be eligble OR available for radio air play. (I was QUITE upset aabout it but nobody asked ME!) He explained it in an obscure interview. Loss on both counts if ya ask me...

Would be awesome to see this great performance get some recognition - so GRAMMY nom, even better!.
(IF it were possible, I'd love to see TFM nominated for vocal performance)
Maybe the odd category they submitted in was the only one it would fit? I'm just so glad they did!
