I'm feeling soo lonely these days. I miss voting for Adam on VH1, and i miss watching the fabulous videos from the Glamberts. It will be soo nice when Adam gets back to the States and works on his New Album.

I didn’t want to enter 24/7 site this night as I am deadly tired after what seemed a never-ending day and I might not go on any other threads just now BUT I feel it’s about time (and sort of the right thread) to share with you something that I kept out of this blog but always wanted to tell you. I apologize in advance for any incoherence below or language (or logical :-)) mistakes and hope you all get my point..
I think that anyone else instead of Adam, at the same point in his/her career, would have most likely disappeared from the music scene after the AMA fiasco. I don’t believe him when he says he didn’t feel the backlash and you might agree with me here. We all know he deserves to be on top of any/every music chart (be it of sales/spins/downloads/awards or whatever) and some of you even told me several months ago that among the reasons for which he’s not ‘there’ yet is ‘the AMA backlash’ and ’the homophobia’.
Now, I admit that sometimes I employ‘national stereotypes‘ myself, but most of the times I’m very much aware of the rational flaw they represent ..in the logic of reality. We like to say about our own country-folks or those from other countries that they are this and that... The collective ‘they’ is too much of a generalization, in my opinion. “Americans are homophobes / closed-minded” both ‘non-Americans’ and some ‘Americans’ are saying. ‘The Europeans’ (or the rest of the world for that matter) are open-minded/ inclusive and so on... Come on, people, there is no such thing like ‘the Americans’ or ‘the Europeans’. Those ‘entities’ are so complex within themselves that any of those two stands for a particular individual as much as the statistical IQ average stands for the IQ of Einstein or JF Nash or one mentally retarded individual. Adam himself told us how people from the Southern states were more ‘open-minded’ than what might have been expected if to go by the usual stereotype of the ‘conservative South’.

Let’s be frank, the AMA performance WAS a total FIASCO not because of ‘the kiss’ or ‘the crouch’ or ‘the homophobia’, but because of the sum of all of Adam’s actions on stage and, most of all, because he sang very bad, (for the first and, hopefully, the last time in his life). Of course the TV channels’ reactions were disproportionated and of course, the ’rest of the world’ enjoys pointing out to ‘stupid/puritan/homophobe Americans’. The ‘open-minded’ non-American interviewers say ‘what’s up with these Americans? No big deal with some guy-on-guy kissing on stage!’. Well, as much as I (an ‘European’ myself) indulge in a little bashing of the otherwise great ‘Americans’, I can’t, on the other hand, help myself to notice the fact that ‘non-American world’ might have seen only the edited version of that performance or none at all. I would dare the ‘non-American’ mainstream audience to feel good, happy, loving and supportive after a performance like that one and after receiving the finger along with Adam’s decomposed face at the end of the show. All this after they had given him the honor of closing the show and after people in the audience had risen to their feet to listen to him! Anywhere in the world there are people who (might) love him and people who (might) hate him or simply ignore him. Stop all that nonsense about ‘America vs. the World’ in terms of morals, please.
As I said before, I don’t expect (or even want) Adam to ‘behave’ from now on but I do hope for him to not hammer nails into his own coffin. He so much deserves a smoother path on his career, especially after working so hard! He went off the track by his own and I hope (and pray) he’s done with the off-road trails and he’ll find the best (and brightest) highway to reach his destination. All GNT shows have been so successful! I do hope he will rock out the entire world! GLb

PS: I confess my satisfaction for the reversed …time zones of the shows. It’s more comfortable (and healthy) to see the first concert videos during the day/evening :-). Can’t wait for the European shows!

The AMA's are always going to be the elephant in the room. In a way, it may, in hindsight, have been a good thing (minus the bad singing) to get it out of the way. It was going to come at some point, as he is not about hiding who he is, nor should he be. Idol took a chance on him, knowing up front it would be a hard sell. If he had not been so talented, it never would have worked. His talent will keep him in the game, and eventually, his sexuality will be a second thought, not the first thought. His second album needs to be stellar, and the world is his. As a side note, is our boy getting a little chunky? Never say Weight Watchers!

OT...@ GlammyLadyBug, Adam did feel the backlash as he stated on Ellen. He didn't want to offend or disrespect anyone and he was worried that he may have overstepped boundaries. His main issue is the double standard for which I wholeheartedly agree. I watched the performance and was so disappointed in his lack of judgement and performance. It was and is the worst I've seen him do, but it's over and I think he's gained a lot more experience and realization of what are tv boundaries and what the majority will accept if he wants mass exposure and longevity. It is a business, after all, fair or not. I also wish the USA wouldn't be perceived as all narrowminded homophobes, as Adam wouldn't have achieved the success he has in such a short time here if we all fit that mold. We all are guilty to some degree of generalizations and it's not always accurate. We love and accept Adam and I don't think he will give up his citizenship anytime soon because of his frustration with a segment of misguided control freaks and fanatics. There are those types in every country, but They're more vocal in US. Freedom of speech here is alive and well, sometimes to a fault. funbunn40

There was very little mention of Adam's vocals during the AMA. Everything was concentrated on the visual performance, which made me sick to my stomach in fear that Adam had blown this great chance to prove to the world how talented he is. In the ensuing days I felt he had "bit the hand that tried to feed him." I was up/down on his decision to not apologize for his actions, but now realize that in not doing so he set the example of who and what he is. However; saying all that, I still believe that Adam cannot have it both ways. He's either Adam the greatest singer to come along in a generation or he is that openly gay singer, Adam Lambert. He says one thing has nothing to do with the other, but actions speak louder than words. His international tour is supposed to be high camp, but it trends toward being gay when you break it down, watch the actions and listen to the lyrics.

I hope I live long enough to see Adam accepted and iconic worldwide because I am a fan for life. That he has a "loyal to the death" fan base is extremely helpful...hopefully that fan base will grow to include those skeptics that are afraid of or put off by his sexuality but realize the scope and range of his talent.

Sir Elton John is (now) openly gay and beloved worldwide. He played piano and sang recently at ultra concervative Rush Limbaugh's wedding. I guess that shows that everyone has the ability to enjoy true talent.

please people stop the drama and self pity. Past is past and don't look back. For me, Adam did the right thing not to apologized for what happened at the AMA. He stood up from the haters and he is a good example not to be ashame for who you are amen ........................

I for one cryed my eyes out when the AMA happened. I was disappointed in him that night. The look on his face at the end of that performance scared the hell out of me to say the least. Now this is how I felt "then" and I must admit I sat down and wrote him a letter and told him how I felt...of which none of it was about his sexuality one bit. It was more about how risk take others down with you. Your band, your dancers your family, and yes your fans. I still stand on how I felt that night. Yes the singing was subpar and he fell to boot. I was hurting for him at the lack of judgement on his part. Now in his defense...the whole night was a disgrace to the music world with Jay Lo,GaGa etc everyone was spewing over the top themes with no regard to the viewers.He was singled out that night and I feel even without the kiss, crotch, and etc. it was not a good night for him. When he fell I said Oh no!The AMA knew about 90% of what he was doing infact they said over and over the outlasdish Adam Lambert. I felt he was set up to made a fool of. Sure he added a few things but they were not more outradgace than previous singers that night. That is in the past...he had a great tour...he has moved on and so have I and many fans who love him and his music. I like a few who just expressed myself on this subject just need to say it and now I said it and I am never going to mention it again.

The past is the past and everyone should get over Adam's performance on the AMA show. Mistakes were made and he even admitted that he did not sing that well. Let's look at where his career is at this time. It's taken him on the GNT across America over the summer and now internationally as he performs the songs from his first album. Most concerts were sold out in the states and Canada. Adam Lambert is an awesome performer both musically and visually. I believe he will grow stronger and more focused with his next album and achieve super stardom because of his spectacular musical artistry. The fans who first fell in love with him on AI will continue to follow his career and give him all the support he needs along the way.

Glammy Ladybug, I totally agree with you! Your thoughts just make so much sense! I agree that Adam has learned from his mistakes. I think to have introduced himself to the world in this way was unfortunate at the onset of his dream career. I was so upset after watching and felt almost betrayed. I now know that he was caught up in shall I say, "the Gaga Moment" and I get that. It has really hurt his career-at least for now until the rest of the world wakes up and realizes he is indeed sensational and worth what is ahead for him. All anyone needs to do is listen to a few interviews to see what a truly remarkable and talented human being he is.

7:36 agree with you except for the statement that those who fell in love with Adam on A.I. will continue to support him. SOME of us do and will.....but evidently 80 - 90% of those fans dropped Adam like a hot potato after the AMA's.
