I can see why the tweens go for Beiber. I'm just
trying to think back (WAY back haha) to my feelings as a young teen. The girls could daydream about going out with him and maybe a kiss. They would probably not imagine their little dream guy having the sexually aggressive moves and wearing over-the-top makeup and hanging out with trannies. The boys would be hesitant to buy that album cover or show their friends these glitter pictures until they
became comfortable with their own sexuality.
The tween market has huge buying power but I don't think Adam would be willing (to his credit) to tone it down for them. So everyone has to stop griping about the success of Beiber.

Anon 7:43am Its your kind of thinking that makes our young children who are questioning their sexuality and or gender to have bad feelings about themselves and/or not being able to talk to someone about it. Children need to know that its ok to be who they are and if they are feeling bad about themselves for being different that they can go to an adult to sort out their feelings regardless if it has to do with their sexuality, gender identity or just not fitting in with the popular crowd. Adam speaks volumes by being proud of who he is and not apologizing for it, and having friends who are special and different and come from all walks of life. I will say 'though that knowing Jonte is (or hoping Jonte is) living his life in the way that makes him feel most comfortable in his own skin, and happy, content, fulfilled, AT EASE - makes me in turn happy, more than I can say (Ramone too). I cannot believe how hypocritical some of you people are. You say you're all for open-mindedness, accepting of differences in people, etc, etc. But the second someone has an opinion different than yours or the slightest criticism of Adam(even if it's constructive!) you can't tolerate it. So it's ok to be different and have different opinions but only on YOUR terms, is that it? The person that posted at 7:43 was only pointing out something that he or she thought might hurt Adam. I think it is wonderful that Adam is so open and honest about who he is, but there are many people who don't feel that way. I think a LOT of Adam's fans have greatly underestimated the number of fans and potential fans that he lost with the AMA performance. It is their tragic loss in my opinion. Well Anon 4:06, maybe it's that 7:43's comments were so, less than constructive and rather gross and offensive, that people who visit here couldn't let it go. People here are pretty darn tolerant and accepting, and not only willing to listen to, but actually interested in all sorts of opinions and points of view, but 7:43's comments sort of seem to go so much against Adam Lambert's whole deal that maybe it was hard for people to not comment. They might not have been jumping on someone with just a different opinion, any old person with just a differing opinion, but rather jumping on someone who had a fairly shitty thing to say, there's a difference! Sorry for the negativity but it just blows me away that there are still some who do not LISTEN to Adam - in this case, that he has always known he will not appeal to everyone, expects that to be the case and is not going to adjust himself a whole bunch just to please and sell albums. That is the very thing that makes him so unforgettable, inspiring and unique. There are a lot of guy singers with pretty eyes, thick, shiny hair, cute hips, a great voice and come hither looks. If that is what consitutes fan worship, you are missing the best part - his honesty and courage and the way he stands up to what at times must be a mountain, of scarey hated. I melt to his voice, stop dead in my tracks at his smile but it is that gutsy courage that stays with me everyday when my life seems tough. Wow. Where'd all the love go this week? Something's in the air, not just on 24/7 but everywhere. Usually I'd ignore all of this but want to comment, for what it's worth. First of all, I whole-heartedly agree with everything the poster at 5:57(etc) had to say. It really makes you lose a little hope for society when people comment with such hatred, and sometimes it's hard to turn a blind eye.

It's not that the people on this site come down on anyone with a differing opinion, If I had to guess, I'd say they are just as baffled & disgusted as I am at the people that spew hatred, intolerance, and shallow nonsense on a forum dedicated to a person who stands for/sends out a message of LOVE and compassion for the living!

These people are a contradiction of themselves. They call themselves Adam Lambert fans, and in the same breath say who he shouldn't be hanging out with, who he should be fucking, how he should look, how he should talk, and it just goes on and on. Pfft, the thought of human beings staying so closed off in their own little land is almost humorous to me.

I wouldn't respect Adam as much as I do if he EVER decided to water himself down to an American Idol-approved image. He'd be lying to us all. His continued authenticity & perpetual optimism in the face of opposition in itself is worthy of a Mad World-esque standing ovation.

You're damn straight he posts these things on purpose, it weeds out the people who just don't GET THE MESSAGE. The fact is, the REAL him makes a lot of people uncomfortable. They don't see the person, they see the "(gasp!)gay guy from AI" with killer talent who stands for something they refuse to comprehend and completely disagree with.

It's 2010 and the US is a beautiful melting pot of diversity where people are finally beginning to embrace the beauty of DIFFERENCES. Adam's success to date is proof that he doesn't need to conform to the likes of a tiny fraction of superficial, intolerant people to become an iconic figure in pop culture. Something tells me he didn't get HERE by luck of the draw.

I'm fully aware that there will ALWAYS be people who are intolerant to anything that is different from what dwells inside their bubble, and for those, I'd say Adam isn't your cup of tea. So instead of waiting on him to morph into the next Justin Timberlake, why not move on & maybe turn your 'impeccable social skills' towards something a little more productive for humanity?

PassionN2010, this is the poster at 4:06. I'm the one that 5:57 directed most of his or her vitriol. At first I was supportive of the poster at 7:43, but after reading 5:57's "sermon" to me, I realized 7:43's post was rather nasty and probably not meant to be helpful to Adam. I admit that now, but there is one thing I will not back down from, and it is that you can still be a fan of someone and not agree with every career move they make. It doesn't make someone less of a fan.

If an artist truly doesn't care what people think of their art, and they are expressing themselves for their own satisfaction only, then great. More power to them. But if an artist wants to make a living selling their art, then they have to care a little bit about what the general public wants. They might have to compromise a bit. They have to find a place where they are still being true to their artistic vision, and yet still be marketable. I've heard Adam say something like this in interviews. Should he change himself to "PACIFY" all the closeminded idiots out there? No! But if he wants a successful career, he might have to compromise just a little. That's all I'm saying. I want Adam to be around for a long time. Like I said earlier, I thing he is the best talent to come around in years. I just want him to succeed. Is that so aweful?

How come you don't mind when you see a photo of Cheeks and Adam in drags. I don't like that Brad boy too much. Tried to accuse 50 cent was a homophobe. I've liked 50 cent way before Adam and I was really impressed how he cleared that attack in a very zen way. :)

I do agree with the comments of Adam
being really brave, etc., but I think he has reached a point in his life where he is just really comfortable in his own skin. In the RS interview,
he said he doesn't really think twice about being gay and that it just feels normal to him.
In younger years, he probably had to build up courage, but I think now he is not feeling the need for this as much. This is a big inspiration to everyone who wonders if they'll
be accepted, which is pretty much all of us!
I find the older I get, the less I worry about
what others think of me.

What's the difference between compromise & conformity? Are we to expect ADAM to live in a straight world for the sake of his career as they would have him live .. that is .. tone down on the gay-ness? Thusly .. do not go to parties if there are 'questionable' people there even though ADAM has been living openly gay most of his adult life? Put him in a 'box' .. making sure his 'lifestyle' doesn't 'offend' the mainstream and 'sure .. we'll buy his music .. play it on the radio .. go to his concerts ... BUT ... only if he 'behaves' himself' .. is that it? Right here I have to use a word that covers what I'm thinking without being 'offensive' ... GLAMSHIT!!! Here’s my peace, and it’s going to be long-winded. I'm glad you noticed that the overall tone of 7:43 wasn't meant to be helpful to Adam. Fair enough, we're all human. I don't think anyone insinuated that we should all look at this "fandom" through rose-colored glasses and agree with every move Adam makes...that's pretty ridiculous, don't you think? I'll leave that kind of ass-kissing to someone else. I never claimed to agree with everything he's done "career-wise" myself. Yet, shockingly enough, you don't see me on here spreading hate with uneducated, intolerant word vomit either (ref- 7:43’s comments).
Honestly? Where have you been? He's said it a gazillion times in interview after interview. He “said it” with the absence of an apology for his AMA performance. He'd love to make everyone happy, but he's not going to do it by changing the very fiber of who he is inside, and he’s made it very clear. He’s self-assured, aggressive, provocative, theatrical, and gay with a touch of androgyny. He embraces all of those “controversial” things about himself so passionately that he allows us all to SEE it, every bit of it, while continuously verbalizing a message of LOVE, understanding, and tolerance. All of this is beyond commendable, inspiring, and even life/perception altering to those whose lives he touches on a deeper level. And people still wonder why his die-hard fans are so passionate. We simply see the HUMAN BEING, in all his bravery, and attempt to keep the needless politics at bay while paying the LOVE forward.
Thus we have the great divide between the fans of the music, and the fans of the PERSON AND THE MUSIC. The people that speak with such disregard due to political bullshit are indeed NOT Adam Lambert fans, they are fans of the music, and that's just fine! But they have to accept it’s only about the music for them, and stop trying to fix THE PERSON, as if he’s some robot that can be programmed. Why continue to beat the dead horse of politics? It’s at the very core of his message, for me, and I’d say quite a few others as well; embrace the person and their character, not the politics surrounding the person.
IMHO it’d be intensely more gratifying to have built a ridiculously passionate & loyal fan base while staying true to myself, then to watered-down myself into something more universally appealing. Can you imagine what it would be like mentally and emotionally? To be out, working yourself into exhaustion, performing month after month while hidden beneath a false image of yourself, for audiences whose majority would probably completely turn on you the moment they saw you posed with a few friends? For me, all I can think is…what a blanket of insecurity I would live beneath, constantly feeling belittled and judged and locked in a vault of uncertainty. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone, and it’s cruel for anyone to expect someone else to live their life that way.
Adam appears to be a very HAPPY, successful person by being himself. The PERSON he is-in partnership with the talent he possesses creates the magic that can and DOES hold the attention of millions of people. The fans of the PERSON simply embrace what makes him happy. It doesn’t mean we all agree with everything he does, just means our gratitude and LOVE are completely unconditional. Why would he ever want to or need to change that? These fans you speak of that Adam lost post-AMA's are such a small minority that they may as well have been invisible in regards to marketability. HE continues to climb the charts, adorned in heavy glitter and every color of the rainbow, just as gay as he was from the day of his Idol audition, and people ADORE HIM for it! And that’s thanks to his hard work, integrity, and authenticity.

Wow narrow minds are everywhere. First of all, Adam, has said over and over he is not a Tranny. Second not all Trannies are gay, third - what is wrong with his Tranny fans showing their love? It is just fashion and fun - CHILL!!! Those who deep down wish Adam would stop being gay really need to realize he isn't going to change who he is.

I think Adam did try to avoid the gay label on Idol.
He wore jeans, dark jackets, suits, etc. He did not
wear heavy makeup or rhinestones on his eyes until the voting was over and did not cover his hair and body with glitter or wear clothes like he has on tour.
He wore no makeup at all to the audition.
He even pretended to be on a date with a girl (Danielle) walking arm in arm.

Everyone keeps saying let Adam be who he is, but EVEN ADAM didn't let himself be himself and cut loose until his own concerts started.

he didn't try and hide himself on Idol, that was a totally different kind of performing to his own concert. He could hardly wear rhinstones and heavy makeup for 'Tracks of my tears". He pushed the boundaries on Idol further than any other Idol has ever done. As to not wearing makeup to the audition, that was his everyday look, if you look at photos of him he wears either no, or very little make up when not performing.
He never pretended to be on a date with a girl either, Danielle is one of his best friends and has been for many years, they often went out together.

Adam toned it down on Idol because he knew he had to. He did not go to the audition wearing the top hat and fur collar glittery coat. The audition and all of the Hollywood elimination rounds were "performances" where he wore jeans and a basic t shirt and so were all the TV shows.

They WERE pretending to be on a "date" with Danielle having her arm tucked into his, which they don't usually do.

Anyway, none of this matters because people love "the real him" and the rest is history....

Seriously! Whoever you are that said Adam will be more hurt by being around Trannies than by being gay!! Do you hear yourself? Who the hell are you to say that? Adam accepts everyone and being around a certain type of person, or associating himself with a particular group of people does not in any way harm his career.
