Adam Lambert Picks His Favorite Song And Album Of The Year

Adam Lambert: I have always been a big fan of Sia’s songwriting and voice and I think this year’s release of We Are Born showcases some of her best work yet.
Her songwriting resonates with me and as a listener; I begin to really believe she is letting me into her music, her words and her thoughts. Her lyrics are so genuine, truthful and exposed and I really respect that in any artist.
Not only are her lyrics exposed for us to feel but so is her voice. It too, is so revealed, raw and cuts right to my heart. One thing that is so special is you can hear every texture of her voice, every breath, which then again, helps support that she really makes me not only believe, but also FEEL what she is singing. This can get lost when recording an album, but she does such a good job letting that come through in her recordings.
More specifically to Sia’s album, is that in the song, “Be Good To Me”. Here in this song, she really lets us in. The riff she sings after the first phrase of the vocal is divine. Her voice really sails into a timber full of sympathetic vibration and rich overtones. These are one of her magical moments that give you goose bumps.
No matter whom “he” is that she refers to in the first line, she leaves up to you to decide. I personally took it from a love relationship perspective and felt what she had to say.
In the lyric, “There is sweetness after hurt….” really shows that anytime anyone goes through a breakup, or a loss, or just plain hurt, it may take time, but you always seem to find the sweetness after all of it is done and the healing has passed. This lyric is one that a lot of people need to take the time to learn about and as it took me awhile to figure that out, it is always good to remind myself of this when I am hurting. It helps me get through any healing process.
Another lyric she states, “My heart is filled, revealed…” shows exactly what I love about her work. She puts her heart out there for all to hear, see and judge. She is saying this not only to “he” but also to her listeners, that she is exposing herself to us in such an intimate way. She is really speaking to anyone who wants to listen.
Sia’s work is by far some of the best. I will always be a fan and really look forward to any future work she shares with the world.

When you listen to Adam's song, you need to listen to his lyrics and you can fully understand him. He is so full of love and so real be himself.
There was a poll on that site and of course Adam was in the lead as the happiest surprise of the year with the Grammy nomination.

What a sensitive, beautifully expressed review of Sia's work. An artist who listens and truly appreciates music that moves him. Adam never ceases to amaze. How lucky we are to have him in our world.
It is an awesome song/singer. Great choice. Loved the music in Burlesque. Burlesque and Christina much better than the reviews say. The movie rocks and Christina is solid.
Adam Lambert is truly an amzing person, he really knows his music and how he expresses his inner feelings about music he hears. No other critcs can write about an artist and express it in such beatiful manner. He is so kind and giving to other human beings and artists. More reason to love Adam Lambert......indigo

Agree with The Dark Side about Burlesque...Chistina did hold her own..better than the reviews...the movie was a really happy feel good show with incredible vocals and dance..of course thinking of a duet with Adam!! Adam introduces everyone to artists we may not have noticed and if HE says something is good...with his vast knowledge of voice and music then that is one lucky artist..and so are we!

Adam is completely amazing....never fails to give other artists a nod. The man is so intelligent and articulate! Wow! What a review he gave! He gives so much thought to everything he says and with such sensitivity! It definitely made me listen to Sia, an artist I never heard of before, just because Adam said such positive things about her singing and songwriting! I trust whatever Adam suggests. This is a man who definitely knows his music! Great job, Adam! Way to go Sia!

Sia is one of the song-writer in Christina latest album, may be Adam will collaborate with her in some way on his 2nd CD.

I don't know why Anastacia comes to my mind from her voice, but I definitely like Anastacia more.
Adam is so amazing! He has yet another talent I didn't know about - music critic! Everything he says comes across as sheer poetry. He will be a great songwriter because he can reach the very soul of everyone who listens to him! I loved his album because when you listen to it, you know it is Adam. Not just the glorious vocals, but the man who interprets the lyrics. Adam is truly blessed and we are blessed to hear his voice.

Burlesque is a great movie and Christina is incredible as is Cher! You need to ignore the critics on this one. Christina and Adam together on his new cd MUST happen!!
Adam is such a masterclass gentleman when acknowledging other artist's music. He frequently mentions the devestating hurt he felt on his breakup with the only person he has loved - Cheeks (Brad Bell).
His comments on Sia's music is also a reflection of how deep Adam's emotions are. When he loves someone it is with his whole heart and soul.
With the new year approaching, here's hoping that Adam will find his true love and soulmate for life. He gives so much love and happiness to everyone around him, friends, family and fans.
He soo deserves to be happy in life and love.

I find it so fascinating that Adam and I have very similar taste in music...could it be age?(I am a year older than him...) maybe...Sia is one of my favs.I have all 3 of her albums.She is amazing. "I'm Here" is my fav of her last album "We are Born", followed by "Be Good 2 me". The only artist that Adam liked and I never had heard of before is Mikesnow and I checked their album and they are fantastic. THanks adam for being amazing....

What a review - so complimentary. Very well said, Adam. I love how technical he gets about her voice...her breathing...just shows how seriously he takes his craft, and how knowledgeable he is.

Sia is an talented Aussie. Love the way Adam
feels right from the heart with not only his but others lyrics.
There's a sadomasokist vibe in Be Good To Me. She's begging, like someone who likes to be abused. That's why I don't like it. Not a positive vibe at all.

Thank you, Mister! Never heard of SIA before, but I did my research now.. and I’m still processing.. She’s fantastic. Wait, that’s a stupid word! She’s.. real, maybe too ‘real’ for the music business circus. There is so much beauty in her music that it hurts.. just right. I feel richer now that I’ve heard her singing and talking.. and laughing soo.. unsexy and.. fresh. :-)
