Blithely ignoring Abba's advice about winners and taking it all, American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert has had an astounding year, building on his early window of opportunity to become one of the biggest-selling artists to emerge from the crucible of TV talent.

The Californian singer released his debut album For Your Entertainment at the tail-end of 2009, hitting #3 on the Billboard 200 and confounding the critics, who lauded its combination of glitz and guts.

The Dr. Luke-produced title track and first release from the record picked up 960,000 scrobbles during the year, but your favourite was the rockier single 'Whataya Want From Me', co-written with P!nk, which was scrobbled 1.67 million times.

An all-star cast of songwriters - including Matt Bellamy of Muse, Rivers Cuomo of Weezer and Lady Gaga - can take some credit for the nearly 7 million scrobbles Lambert's debut racked up as he established himself as more than just bread and butter for Simon Cowell and the judging panel.

From the Last.FM site:

What is scrobbling?

Scrobbling a song means that when you listen to it, the name of the song is sent to Last.fm and added to your music profile.

Once you've signed up and downloaded Last.fm, you can scrobble songs you listen to on your computer or iPod automatically. Start scrobbling yourself, and see what artists you really listen to the most. Songs you listen to will also appear on your Last.fm profile page for others to see.

Millions of songs are scrobbled every day. This data helps Last.fm to organise and recommend music to people; we use it to create personalised radio stations, and a lot more besides.

@bing,
I don't really celebrate CNY, but its always good to have a few days holiday. Everywhere looks colouful, and its the only time of the year when shops shut in HK,(although not all of them, there's always some open in every town/village).Weathers always bad for CNY though...
Thanks for the wishes though
