4. Adam Lambert and Katy Perry

Katy Perry, 26, is that hot pop singer with lots of attitude and energy. Wouldn't it be exciting to team her up with Adam Lambert, 29? When the camera flashed on Lambert at the 2011 Grammy Awards, chances are you hadn't seen much of him before that. He didn't perform at the Grammys, pass out an award at the Grammys, and even though "Whataya Want From Me" was up for a Grammy, it didn't win. However, Lambert has got a terrific voice and style and to do a collaboration with the pop princess Katy Perry, who gets plenty of face time, would be good for Adam and Katy.

Glad they're friends and all but I think he should perform with someone who's voice matches his calibre and doesn't lip synch on stage.

Read today Tony Bennett is recording another Duets CD, singing with Amy Winehouse. I would love for Adam to sing with Tony, reminiscent of Tracks of My Tears and Feeling Good

ARE THEY KIDDING? Adam would blow her off the stage. Girl cannot sing live. Much better choice, Adam and Pink.

Anonymous said...

Career-wise, good move. Vocally, though, he'd blow her out of the water if they sang together live. She seems to really like Adam and they have the same sense of kooky humor.

Anonymous said...

Adam is so far above Katy, not a wise match. Whoever is writing this doesn't understand singing or quality in performance

Anonymous said...

I like Katy's song but she can't sing live. How about, Katy write a new song, Adam sing it and Katy dance around him. Not bad.

Anonymous said...

Katy is pretty, but Adam Lambert would sing circles around her. Sorry katy!

I have to agree with Adam and Pink together! That would be a fantastic collaboration! They both sing with such emotion and their voices would compliment each other!

Anonymous said...

I know it wouldn't necessarily be a PUSH for his career, but Adam has 2 best friends with really good strong voices, Alisan Porter and Danielle Stori. I'd like to hear him sing with either or both.

However if I wanted a colaboration that would melt my knees....then I choose Adam and Darren Hayes (formerly of Savage Garden).

Oh hell, just sing something somewhere soon!

I think it would be a riot.Adam thinks the world of her and vice versa.Bring it on.

i think ti would be fun the two of them together would be fun to hear and they would have a greeat time doing it as they are good friends

Off topic Adam's release in New Zealand of Sure Fire Winners was #2 Feb. 15 nightly countdown on the edge radio station. Go Adam! IMO Adam needs to duet with someone with powerful vocals ,not Katy.Actually maybe a guy singer like Ryan Tedder from One Republic.

Anonymous said...

I love Katy P. she seems sweet, & although her voice is weak compared to Adam's , you never know when you have one strong vocal & the other not so out there. It might balance out. If I choose a duet for Adam it'll be with Slash's guitar!!! As far as Adam singing cirles around others, well he would definitely do it, with anyone!! I don't know why he's always saying such n such can sing, Adam is the one who can sang!! K

I have a feeling Adam is going to turn Pop into Rock and Pop and Soul.

Anonymous said...

In general, Adam should do a hot collab w/ someone, someone thriving right now, because it's a trend that has had very fruitful results in the mainstream music scene for a lot of artists. (my vote, 'though kind of unexpected I admit, would be Nicki Minaj)

Anonymous said...

why would adam want to coll with Nicki Minaj, too trashy

Anonymous said...

adam needs to ROCK with Leather NOT pop

Anonymous said...

adam does not need to be on any mainstream pop bandwagon or with stinky pinky

Anonymous said...

@6:48am, because, for one, it would potentially bring him to an audience that maybe he hasn't penetrated yet, but one which I think would really be open to his amazing talent! Also, what you may deem Minaj's "trashy-ness", I'd venture to guess Adam would really dig, just my opinion. She's completely freaking hot right now, and quite frankly, Lambert could benefit from that. We who love Adam Lambert all know his gifts are sick, out of this damn world amazing, almost unparalleled, but he seems to be leaning towards wanting to crack this mainstream thing, and that takes a business savvy look at things, which Adam has always seemed very capable of doing; he's smart and business savvy (which is as sexy as anything else about him IMO btw.) Just my opinion. It's all good.

Read what the blurb says...."when the camera flashed on Adam, no one had seen much of him before that"! If you're out of the AFL fan bubble, that's probably true. At least this article is bringing up his amazing voice and thinking, okay, how does he get more MAINSTREAM coverage. Good publicity to at least bring it up for discussion. IMHO :)

Anonymous said...

I can't stand Katy Perry.

Anonymous said...

I agree Ebbtide/7:48 AM, I thought, think, very similarly. That point about "outside the AFL fan bubble" and the way the blurb put it is very noteworthy IMO. Lambert does need another very mainstream product, and a hot collab w/ a high profile artist would be a very smart idea IMHO. Let's face it, there aren't many in the mainstream pop marketplace who CAN compete w/ Lambert's vocals, so we really can't impose too high of a standard on who might be a good collab for AFL or he'd never get matched up with anyone :). But anyway, good point and one that AFL fans should take into consideration, afterall, reality is reality, denying that doesn't do anybody any good. Adam has seemd to indicate as of late that he is indeed interested in being prominent mainstream, no doors should be closed then in that pursuit. MO.

I do think that the Yahoo Music article is right on the money as far what it said, practically speaking, at least in its concept of duets, and its potential to further Adam's career and make him better known. Whether you like her or not, Katy Perry is really hot right now (for the record, I like her music, its light and fun...and she has had an interesting personal journey of her own, from her earlier musical roots in Christian music (!) to now...), and Adam is just becoming known for his voice outside of his own fandom and fans of AI (and some of that "stuff" from 11-09...). As much as Adam has a more powerful voice, etc., I think it certainly wouldn't hurt him to do some sort of collaboration with Katy Perry or someone else who is at the top of the charts right now. Who knows what might be happening behind the scenes. And so many seem to be doing that right now..Loved Lady Gaga and Beyonce' for example with "Telephone". A whole new world of fans out there just needing the nudge to give Adam a fair shake. And too, Katy is the one who wore the cape with "Adam Lambert" emblazoned on the back when she sang on AI when Adam was there, something that as a fan of Adam even then : ), I absolutely loved!!!! But of course, the article does say "Dream" Collaborations, so its mostly just a fun article but you never know...And if nothing else this mention gives Adam some props as a mainstream artist, something truth be told he is probably anxious to achieve. Whatever makes sense to him makes sense to me.

And slightly off topic, but speaking of duets, one of the most stunningly amazing moments to me, was many years ago, when David Bowie, as we know one of Adams icons, and Bing Crosby, the crooner icon of a previous generation, did a duet on a Bing Crosby Christmas special in 1977. I was absolutely blown away at the time, to see David Bowie on this show. Never in a million years did I expect to see that happen, but apparently Bing Crosby was a David Bowie fan as well. Still one of my favorite moments of all time, seriously. Two singers who I NEVER expected to see singing together! For anyone who has no clue as to what I am talking about, and is curious to see, here is a link to this duet. David Bowie and Bing Crosby...who knew! Their dual performance of "Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth" still shows up at during the holidays every year. Just a great example of an unlikely collaboration that "worked".

And I know Katy cant sing a shit, but she can sell veeery well....

adamluv said...

Katy is very popular right now so maybe that would be a good career move. The ability to sing well is irrelevant nowadays as we see by many of the top performers. Unbelievable but true IMO.

Anonymous said...

My prayer is that Adam NEVER EVER sings with GaGa. He is so beyond her wacky outfits. Please Adam don't sing with Tony Bennet either.

Anonymous said...

Katy and Adam should have blue-eyed children.

Anonymous said...

It's silly I know but when I can't sleep I mentally cast Adam in musicals of the past.

He's in Camelot as Sir Lancelot, singing "If Ever I Would Leave You" or Tony in West Side Story singing "Maria" and "There's a place for us".

I want him to have the career he wants, which for now is the recording industry, but in my fantasy he's on stage where that voice belongs.

My age is showing.....................JAK

Should I be in a panic? Just heard that David Archuleta got dropped by his label. Low sales, I guess. Should Adam consider a duet with somebody really popular just for "insurance?" In the eyes of us crazy Adam fans, he shouldn't have to, but reality is reality. He has a good international fan base, but if his second CD doesn't leap off the shelves, anything could happen. It's hard to believe that even the best artists can get cut out. It's all about sales. I'd like to see Adam do SNL, or something high-profile like that. I know they approached him last year. The sustainability of a star is so fragile in this market. Adam knows it, of course. Again, I don't want to get panicky, but....

I don't think Adam is in any danger of getting dropped from his label, although you are right, it will be important to have a really great second album. Does put some pressure on Adam too. And more positive exposure the better, as I said above. Gets his name and voice out there to people who might have some sort of preconceived notion about him and/ or wouldn't give him a listen before, or just plain haven't heard of him yet..

I think RCA/Sony knows what they have in Adam Lambert, this man poised for superstardom, and it would take a real disaster to make them drop him I think (I hope..) ...But along those lines, I did recently read a little thing about another Sony artist, Ray Lamontagne (and the Pariah Dogs). His song "Beg, Borrow, or Steal" was nominated for Song of the Year this year at the Grammys..He said his most recent album was not well received by the label when he proposed it, and they were reluctant to back it..It has since gone on to great success and I suppose Sony is feeling rather stupid right now..He is however still with them. (I "discovered" him when I listened to the Grammy nominees CD and have since bought his album [blues-y, folk-sy], which I love...totally different than Adam and his music, but has a unique and IMO fabulous voice, as well as he plays a mean guitar: Monte Pittman is a big fan of his..) Off topic I know, but an example of record labels sometimes not making the best decisions re , and in fact doubting, their artists. And yes, more Adam please!!!

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the reassurance. I too can't see this happening to Adam, but this business is cruel. It's all dollars and cents. Adam has a lot more going for him than some other artists (voice, looks, personality, sex appeal) so you'd think his marketability would be easy. But that's not reality, is it? We crazed fans keep talking about his longevity, but it'll take more than than us to make it happen. Thank God his international fanbase is strong. I'm generally a very optomistic person, but I can't bear the thought of Adam not having the long-term career he deserves. I can't imaging life without him now.

Girls, I need to change the subject. Did you read all of these comments about Adam and Sauli picture which been published in Japan magazine! I am afraid that our Glam Heaven in big trouble. Yes, several of the threads have been hijacked by some weird commenter...I think someone who just gets a big charge out of making idiotic remarks about nothing...hoping admin takes some of them down..and hoping whoever it is moves on to some other site...or perhaps grows up...Best to ignore for now... : (

@anon 8:33 PM
I agree with you.... the music business is tough. Adam has everything going for him, and should be wildly successful...but realistically has had a few things to overcome along the way. (I just read a synopsis of David Bowie's career and he said that it was tougher for him to be successful in America because of his bi-sexuality, he called us "puritanical"; back in the 70's and 80's. Europe was much more accepting of him then as well. ) I really believe 2010 was a "re-grouping" and "laying the foundation" year for Adam. He worked tirelessly without rest or vacation, had some fun in the process, put together a show that he was proud of and reflected his music, and was done his way, gave his fans worldwide so much to be thankful for (myself being one of them..), but as you say, this year and next will be critical in continuing his rise to the top.. I have never been so "invested" in a singer/musician/performer in my life, and I agree that it would be unbelievably tragic and frankly unthinkable if he were to fade into obscurity. Somehow I don't think that will happen. He just needs to find a "place" that works for him and build on that. From what he has said recently in interviews, he has learned a lot about himself, what works, what doesn't, and what he wants to focus on in the future, which I think bodes very well for the success of his next album (which I am so anxious to hear...can hardly wait, as I think it will be fabulous). Too, I think his fans (us) have given him a pretty good start, the rest is up to him, and I say that in a very positive, optimistic, and loving way. Because, no, I cannot imagine a world without Adam Lambert now. I don't think he'll disappoint us...

That goof (or goofs) who are filling these threads with crazy talk need to be ignored. I bet it's just one person or a small group who want to stir us up with their idiocy. I don't think it's a groundswell of anti-Adam sentiment. Just jerks.

Anonymous said...

Where are these threads anyway? Not to get into any altercation,to give them satisfaction, but to post positive about Adam. funbunn40

Anonymous said...

Well said glitzlady. I agree that for Adam this is just the beginning and yes, it has been harder for him. I think he is really smart and like he said has learned a lot the past year, so I think his next album will be great. Not many new artist get popular internationally so quick or headline their own first tour. Adam is not going anywhere!

Anonymous said...

Colaberation is the future of so much music today. I think Adam should do his thing but blend a tune or two with another artist or two. His fans their fans...alot of CD's sell. Think about it; if Adam and GAGA for example colabed could you see the twitter world of almost 3 million fans all over the world burning it up. Sales for those CD's would be off the charts. I think he can go solo with a little alacarte'. Why not? We want him to have a long career right? So many have done this and it has created a sense of kinmanship amongst the artist. Katy/snoop dog,Rhianna/and everyone she works with she kills it;GaGa/Beyonce' Need I say more.It works for country too!

Anonymous said...

Can't you guess who Adam might collaborate. He's been talking about this artist, you just have to read between the lines. It's not Gaga.

my concerns are Adam's management, we Brits in the UK get NO promotion of Adam Lambert...Adam has a Large amount of Fans in the UK...but we feel like underground fans, Adam's management give's us NOTHING which i feel is a worry.....it feels like Adam's management does Not want Adam to be a success in UK..if they did we would of had Adam playing at a least 1 of our 4 big Music festivals here in UK last year...GLASTONBURY..ISLE of WIGHT....V FESTIVAL and READING,Adam should of played at least One Festival ...there should of been a weekend during Glamnation Tour that he could of flown over and Played....all other top Music Stars were here..(except Adam:( ....this year at Glastonbury we have Beyonce Headlining and the other Festivals...will have all the top stars...Adam could really launch himself on the UK if only his management did a proper job...also not being able to go in a record shop and see and buy Adam's music is a real crime..we are a nation of record collecters and we want a cd in our hand not a bloody download...meanwhile what do we get...Justin bleeding beiper overload...when we should have Adam in our charts and at our Famous Music Festivals..instead of every other American music star...bah maybe i should be on Adam's management team..i would get the ball rolling in the UK...another thing why did Adam not have his own makeup range etc...instead of beiper's range of Purple Nail Polishes...
can someone tell me....Simon Fuller was Adam's manager..but in a recent interview Adam refered to his manager as a women..is Lane his manager now then..if so..Lane please get your act together and get Adam Lambert playing in the UK THIS SUMMER!!!!!!!!!
right i am off my JUSTICE for ADAM LAMBERT in the UNITED KINGDOM Soap Box now...it wears me out at times as no one seems to be listening to us BRIT FANS

I'm guessing Adams management is Lane or a bunch of Glamberts, who want Adam to stay in the US and only go to the Burning Man Festival where they can control him :/
