Congrats Adam!! I hope you end up making 10 times that with this next album. You're incredibly talented and you deserve it.

Underwood a true cross-over to being a pop star! Really, Zack!? She only likes to do country music!

Adam with his next album will top all of them next year!

Adam has worked his butt off for every penny. He played more concerts than lots of other big stars. Next year will be even bigger and better! The star is rising! BTW, Carrie Underwood is a cross-over? No way. She's country.

Congratulation Adam! All of your hard work and extreme talent is paying off. Can't wait to see you on VH1 Behind The Music and one of my favorite shows, Project Runway. I'd love to see you on the new show Alphas. Hmmm - what super power would your character have? Massive charisma that men and women cannot ignore...:)

Wow, this is great news! I really thought kelly clarkson was up there with carrie- she had alot of hit singles and Jennifer Hudson had a great movie- oh well what do I know? Adam will surpass all of them 1 day.

@ lb Yes I thought the same thing about Kelly. I was so happy to see Adam at #2 in this short amount of time. All the others have been around longer. So IMO after album 2 and another world tour he will make much more money. Remember Carrie has endorsements and if Adam gets some it would be great. With his looks and charisma he could endorse so many things.

@lb and others..
These figures are for this past year and not the total of each Idol's complete lifetime career. Adam came out so high because of his tour, etc..which doesn't take away from the fact that he's doing very well. I have no doubt that he will ultimately at least be equal in earnings with Carrie Underwood, probably the Idol with the biggest earning potential. Kelly Clarkson is up there too. (She is my second favorite Idol after Adam: I love her voice.) Kelly also has a new album coming out so her earnings for this next year may very well be much higher in the next accounting. I'm so glad Adam is doing well. This is only the beginning for him. It must feel sooooo good to be able to pay the bills, not have to borrow from Dad, and be able to give back to his family too.

Glitzylady,
So true, but wouldn't any of the idols have LOVED to have a world tour like Adam's after only his first album?
With Adam's voice, charisma, hard work, and kind heart, he is destined to shine among the greats.

Consider also that Adam scaled back the size of the performance venues because he wanted to create a more intimate ambience with his audience. This ultimately caused him to expand to more shows to meet demand where it was logistically possible, basically filling out the branches of his scheduled tour. But, Adam was too fantastic, as demand kept filling up and his fans kept wanting for more. I would venture to guess that this "adamizing effect" (the tendency of space to be filled with Adam's electrifying presence) is universal, not just countrywide, and must give way to its manifest destiny. As Adam declared in a variation of Caesar's "Veni, vidi, vici" (I came, I saw, I conquered), he states simply his modus operandi: "I prepare. I create. I love." Were Adam to come to anyone in this manner, could he be denied? "Let me out of this dream." No, no, no. I'm enjoying this most delicious reality show where joy, excitement, and mystery abound. atm

No kidding, Adam is a marvel: Carrie Underwood may be extremely successful here in the US but is not quite so well known elsewhere, from what I hear. Adam has the ability to be that world-wide superstar and is well on his way to becoming just that! And as @11:17 AM said, Adam chose to play mostly smaller venues, and quickly sold out almost every venue. Getting tickets to his GNT concerts was a real learning experience: extremely stressful, spending time poised at the computer, hands shaking, waiting for the second for pre-sales to open, in hopes of getting that front row seat or even a seat at all! But in the end, so worth it! I know we will treasure the memories of Adam's first World Tour, because next time around, it'll probably be even harder to get close enough to the stage to see him unaided by binoculars or relying on the big screens on either side of the stage. But that said, I can hardly wait!!!!!

Where is Adam Lambert's name on People's "celebs list"? He surely IS a worldwide superstar!

No one deserves it more! Adam put his heart and soul into promotions and the GNT tour. He is now an international star, thanks in great part to his own vision and hard work. Pretty sure everyone around the world is waiting for next album.

When Adam's contract is up with RCA, Sony 19 he will have the ability to keep more of his earnings and maybe more opportunities for movies,etc.or at least re-negotiate more in his favor. The large record companies are famous for bilking artists out of millions. Adam needs a good entertainment lawyer and business manager that will look out for his interests. His mgt now aren't inclined to promote acting or any other opportunities that they won't get a piece of. ( Bad grammar, I know} in my opinion. Five million is Adam's gross income, not counting his business expenses, which are largely tax deductible, but after taxes he's probably lucky to keep 2 million of it. Still, a very nice hunk of change, but considering the hours of labor and amount of GNTs, he really earned it. Adam did about 116 GNTs whereas Daughtry did about 50 and has been out there longer. What Adam accomplished in that amount of time is pretty impressive. He also laid some very valuable groundwork, touring worldwide, which was smart and will promote longevity with that exposure. He has also promoted himself exceptionally well, gaining respect personally as well as professionally. He is now known for his charisma, good humour and being an all around nice guy, without the huge entourage or diva demands at his concerts. I think he has become very well-liked with most who have personally met him. His interviews are always thoughtful, friendly and accommodating. No Chris Brown tantrums, throwing chairs out of windows when he's been asked ignorant, insulting{AMA} repetitive questions. He always shows good grace and has built up a good reputation because of it. He also honors the many committments and demands on his time. He's learned alot and isn't a pushover. He also has good family and friends around him that are trustworthy. It makes a difference. funbunn40

He's getting himself out there by working hard, being smart, and showing off his incredible talent. Go Adam! You'll be the #1 earner next year.
