Toby Knapp says:

ADAM LAMBERT's New Song Is Mid Tempo, Showcases His Voice

So... here's what I can tell you about the new ADAM LAMBERT song...

It's mid-tempo. It really showcases his vocal ability. I heard it over the phone earlier today, and if you're expecting more of a club banger, this won't be it. Think WDYWFM and not IF I HAD YOU. It's really well done and radio types will say that we need a listen or two before we decide where it should live on stations across the country.

The thing is that the song really -- really -- does show off his singing ability. He's got a voice. He's not screaming, or wailing... he is showing the world he can really sing on this song.

The label asked me not to say the name of the single and they've asked me to not speculate on release date since the plans are literally changing daily at times. That being said, it should be out via digital release before Christmas, and I bet that in addition to Adam's tweets, you'll see official news from the label about the new CD and single from the label in the coming days.

this is odd, it almost sounds to me as if theyve changed the single, not BTIKM... since he's not allowed to say the name and it seems very different to what we heard before, not clubby but slower... hmmm! who knows? just have to wait and see i suppose :D

Well that goes against earlier hype that it had a dancy/clubsy feel. Gonna relax about it. Expectations - again way too high. People gonna be disappointed when it doesn't top the charts right away if ever.

I love that it "shows off his voice." This is the most important thing. This is what will get people to listen, people who are skeptical or haven't ever tried him before. I'm SO excited! This is great news.

But we only heard the demo, so probably changed everything up tempo etc. The bridge is new I think so maybe there is the dubstep influence there.
Like you say fanatapan,we will just have to wait and see and its killing us.

My guess is the earlier description was not true and this on is true it a real dj on a real station. I am not surprised the record label went this route it's safe record companies like safe it means money. I am sure it will do well and then his next single will be more daring I am sure they know what they are doing.

Hell to the yeah on this news...we've heard it is club music and now mid-tempo showing off his voice. Really, we know Adam can sing anything so anything is possible. I really miss hearing him on the radio so come on already and make millions of people all over the world happy and release that song.

Adam, your mom wished that you would have love in your life and you have Sauli and millions more that truly love you and appreciate your beautiful voice.

I know you don't believe in Christmas but thank you for allowing those of us that do to really have something special to look forward to.

I don't know much abut the music business. How does a song make it on the charts? Billboard in particular?

So glad to hear the single will showcase his vocals. I was actually not thrilled when I heard the CD was going to be again, electronic and club ready. I hope Adam decides to really go in a different direction than that so we can have more vocals highlighted. I also think he should try going in a rock direction one day. That will showcase his chops as well. I know it will be a huge hit because it is still all Adam and he is THE most talented vocalist of my lifetime.

Where do we go to by it? Pre sale?

Good question:
"I don't know much abut the music business. How does a song make it on the charts? Billboard in particular?"

So I looked it up, and in a nutshell, the answer is this..although it isn't entirely simple: From Wikipedia; The whole article is here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billboard_charts

Excerpts from the article: "Billboard Charts"

"The Billboard charts tabulate the relative weekly popularity of songs or albums in the United States. The results are published in Billboard magazine. The two primary charts – the Hot 100 (top 100 singles) and the Billboard 200 (top 200 albums) – factor in airplay, as well as music sales in all relevant formats."

"The Hot 100 currently combines single sales, radio airplay and digital downloads."

"Before September 1995, singles were allowed to chart in the week they first went on sale based on airplay points alone. The policy was changed in September 1995 to only allow a single to debut after a full week of sales on combined sales and airplay points. This allowed several tracks to debut at number one."

"In December 1998, the policy was further modified to allow tracks to chart on the basis of airplay alone without a commercial release. This change was made to reflect the changing realities of the music business. "

"Starting in 2005, Billboard changed its methodology to allow paid digital downloads from digital music stores such as iTunes to chart with or without the help of radio airplay."

"Currently, Billboard publishes many different charts, with the Hot 100 and Billboard 200 being the most famous. "

"At the end of each year, Billboard tallies the results of all of its charts, and the results are published in a year-end issue and heard on year-end editions of its American Top 40 and American Country Countdown radio broadcasts, in addition to being announced in the press. "

The closer it gets, the harder it is to wait! Conflicting discriptions just heightens the almost unbearable anticipation! C'monh Adam, put us out of our misery!

Another boring wwfm,i miss if I had you .radio friendly is horrible.

What's happens to lady gaga fan type song?I'm gone a throw up if it's wwfm crap.

Anonymous said...

They change plans, didn't the guy said it was so awesome with funk mix that gaga fan will follow him, what's happend to that single?

Anonymous said...

I think the people making these comments would stop doing so. There are too many conflicting comments. Let the single speak for itself. If it's going to be similar to WWFM, hmmmmm not my favorite song so not sure about that but will wait 'til I hear the song before speculating/commenting.

I for one do hope it's like WWFM, remember he got a grammy nod for that one. I don't like the electro dubded club music sound at all! Adam's vocals are beyond and that's what they should showcase. Can't wait!

Anonymous said...

This song won't sound like WWFM. WWFM is quiet and slow, beautiful. The new song may not be the club/dance song they first described, but my guess is it will be mid-tempo, like they say, with vocals up front. It won't be slow, or boring or anything, IMO. Adam doesn't have to sound like Gaga in order to get radio play. Not all hits sound like Gaga. Bruno Mars doesn't sound like Gaga, and he's at the top of the charts. Adam will sound like Adam, unique and beautiful. He has LOTS of fans to support him.

Looking forward to hearing Adams new single. He'll deliver us a good hit, dont worry.
Whatever the sound is, he wont please everyone i guess.

Anon @ 1:00, I disagree. WWFM was a stellar pop song. The general public loved it. That's why it made it to no. 10 on the Hot 100. It should have been the first single and the one performed at the AMA's.
