THANK YOU x 100!

Thanks for the comments too :) Yeah the crowd is super huge, many many tens of thousands.

I took it from a Queen documentary. I know I will be so nervous that day.

Well clearly no more than the band, the crew and Adam. The BEST of luck for all of them and hopefully it will be ICONIC.

I wish I wouldn't have seen that crowd, I didn't know it was going to be such a big deal!! I'll be fretting over him for sure.

GREAT MASH-UP!! Both AWESOME singers!! There were so many people at the Freddie/Queen concert that, from the air, they all melded into one MASSIVE mass!! Wish I'd been there, all squashed up. lol

That was an excellent mash-up Carlos. Thanks so much for doing this for us. Both singers are so impressive. I'm so very proud of Adam that he will be part of all of this. That is one mega crowd. WOW!

I'm actually surprised that some of you are blown away by 1986's crowd.

From Wikipedia: "In 1987, Mercury was diagnosed with HIV and the band together made the decision to cease touring, making the concert at Knebworth on 9 August 1986 the last time the four members of Queen would perform on stage together"

It doesn't get more iconic than that.

Here's a more recent picture of the festival from when Robbie Williams performed in 2003:

Carlos, I have missed your posts! I loved your mashup video. Freddie is truly a great but must admit Adam more than held his own and did it his way. I truly felt proud for him and of him. He gave me goosebumps here. He was amazing on AI as well as at the EMA's and the world is finally coming around!

Thank you. I tried several times to view it when you first posted it on the RS thread but couldn't find it.
Wow! The crowd Adam is going to sing to is gigantic! Yea their performances interestingly interwoven. I could feel Freddie's voice giving way a little but he still looked quite strong physically. Adam's EMA performance was magnificent!

Thanks Carlos! I've seen the documentary from which these scenes of the Knebworth concert were taken..Its a must-see for those who wish to really understand and appreciate the history and the impact of Queen and Freddie Mercury on the world of music. And to know the complete story of Queen..and Freddie. And for those who are surprised at the size of the crowd: Queen was iconic then, just as it is now..and played huge venues..The fact that Adam is going to be singing at (at LEAST) two huge events this year is just so exciting..I'm not worried about him at all: He will be awesome and will knock 'em dead with his amazing voice and interpretations of the music. He was made for this..I thank the Universe for American Idol because if it were not for that show..we would not be here flailing about Adam today...Makes you think maybe that's what it was all about, bringing Adam to us..Well, maybe not, but you know what I mean! Lastly, I wish we could all be there in person to celebrate Adam's performances with Queen. Because they'll be going down in Rock History as well.

I concur with you glitzylady.. I've always known Queen's biggest hits of course but I've been starting to research them better and they truly are World icons. It humbles you in a way that you know Adam will never partake in the phenomenon they created back then (hopefully he'll be able to create his own) and Freddie's artistry and interpretation will always remain untouchable.

With that said I think Adam is one of the most capable singers in the industry. He has the vocal talent, stage presence and interpretation to give these songs justice and to honor Freddie and all of the people that to this day miss him.

I can tell Adam will give his best and we might even see some of his best vocal acrobatics to date because he knows he needs to impress with every song because each song was a hit and have a meaning to their fans. This is a treat for us but it will ultimately be for Queen's fans, it's Queen's music and we should be grateful that they chose Adam out of everyone to share their return to Knebworth with.

I've seen the Days of our Lives documentary. It's superb. I recorded it and locked it into my TV!

Fingers crossed there'll be a DVD of this year's Knebworth Park event although I don't know if there's one from Freddie's last concert at Knebworth Park(?).

I'm not nervous for Adam either. This is something he wants to do and it'll give him a taste of what it's like to perform in front of an ENORMOUS crowd!!

JAK here...I was curious about attendance records...when Queen appeared in August 1986 at Knebworth, est. crowd was 120,000.
When Robbie Williams appeared August 3, 2003, est. crowd was 125,000. However since then crowds have been about half that, most maxed out about 55,000. ???
Maybe Queen+Adam Lambert can jack those numbers up again!

You all are making me want to go so bad!! I would hate being so far back that I couldn't see Adam very well though! I am so happy I got to meet him last month! All you guys who have Adam coming to your radio stations, go win those tickets! Connecticut and Texas at least!
