Press Release: Queen + Adam Lambert Will Rock Moscow

Having last week announced a special one-off UK concert performing with Adam Lambert at the Sonisphere Festival, Knebworth on July 7, legendary rock band Queen has announced it will play an additional earlier date with the singer when Queen and Lambert appear at Moscow’s Olympic Arena on June 30th.

These two shows are the only concerts presently planned for Queen and Lambert in 2012.

Queen band members Brian May and Roger Taylor met Lambert during the finals of American Idol Season 8 in May 2009 where Lambert joined the band to perform We Are The Champions.

Since then the band and Lambert have repeatedly hinted at a future collaboration, most recently with Queen’s Roger Taylor telling Billboard Magazine “"He (Adam)has grown into a really great performer with an astonishing voice with a range that's great. We would like to work with him again. There's nothing signed just yet but …it could be very exciting."

Lambert, who in the end placed second in AI, has since established a fast-rising career as an emerging rock artist . His solo album “For Your Entertainment” released just after the end of the Idol season debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 in December 2009 and he went on to receive the Young Hollywood Award “Artist of the Year”.

Recently, at the invitation of Brian May and Roger Taylor, Lambert made a second guest appearance with Queen, joining the band for the closing of the MTV Europe Awards where May and Taylor were present to collect the Global Icon Award for Queen.

Their eight minute MTVE set ignited an immediate reaction across the internet with social network sites buzzing with excitement and campaigning for more from Queen and Lambert.

The Moscow Olympic Arena show on June 30, coming a full week ahead of their UK show, will provide the very first opportunity to see what comes out of May, Taylor and Lambert finally getting to fully explore their very evident artistic appreciation of one another.

Talking of his forthcoming summer concert appearances with Queen, Lambert says: "The intention is to pay tribute to Freddie and the band by singing some great songs. It's to keep the music alive for the fans and give it an energy that Freddie would have been proud of. There's no intention in my mind of replacing Freddie. That's impossible. The way I'm choosing to view it is that it's a great honour and one I'm in no way going to shirk ... Being asked to appear with Queen is the best thing that can possibly happen".

Queen became popular in the mid-'70s and remain one of the most successful bands in the history of rock music. They released 15 studio and 5 live albums as well as numerous compilations. Among them 18 albums ranked #1 in music charts worldwide and the estimated total number or record sales around the world exceeds 300 million.

Since the death of singer Freddie Mercury in 1991 Brian May and Roger Taylor have continued to honour the legacy of Queen by performing alone or with guest vocalists, allowing fans the possibility to hear live such rock classics as Bohemian Rhapsody, We Will Rock You, We Are the Champions, I Want To Break Free, Another One Bites The Dust, Radio Ga Ga and others.

Did anyone notice that when Sauli whispered to Adam , they changed seats at the table with Elton. Adam had to lean over to talk to Katy and Elton. Sauli could see that it would be better if Adam was closer, he prolly had a lot more to say to Katy and Elton, than Sauli did. I was waiting for someone to mention it.

I Cannot think of a better reason to watch the OWN channel than this. I am pretty sure Adam can charm Rosie.

I am sure that Rosie would like Adam on her show because he is an articulate, smart, and charming individual whom she can enagage in some interesting conversation. It would also give him a chance to promote the new album. However, I would like to see Adam on Letterman, the View or the Talk also. It would be wonderful for him if GMA invited him on, but I doubt that will ever happen. I just read that Adam will be appearing on AI this season; can't wait for that since the show and most of the finalists are quite boring in their performance style and voice. Adam set the bar so high during season 8 that I just can't stand to watch the show anymore. The talent just doesn't seem to be there, but that's just my opinion. I will watch Adam any time he makes a tv appearance; he is just a superb talent and such a sweetheart during these interviews.

Rosie's brother was an honoree at that award dinner where ADAM kinda duet-ed with Kathy Griffin ... Equality Awards I think ... and has since then announced his upcoming nuptials to his partner here in New York ... not sure if they have 'tied the knot' yet though. I doubt whether Rosie would do/say anything snarky to ADAM ... I think she really likes him. Her brother Daniel is the first openly gay man elected to the NYS legislature & sponsored the Marriage Equality Act law that was recently passed here in NYS. Why would Rosie be mean to ADAM??

So much exciting news!!

He has finally hit the big time!

I think the fronting with Queen has finally catapulted Adam into the place we ALWAYS knew he would and should be!!

Rosie is quick, smart and funny, just like Adam. I think they'd be really entertaining together on her show. The OWN network is struggling from what I hear. Who'd have thought that would happen, with Oprah at the helm? Anyway, I think Adam and Rosie would have fun together on her show. Both so casual.

AND, Adam and Bruno just spent Monday in the studio! That means this album has taken one more step to completion. I keep saying that this album has hits on it that we haven't even predicted yet. We've heard so little of it. Love how Adam is rubbing elbows so comfortable with the bit stars, and they seem to love him!

Great news for Adam and us all around! I had a great surprise this morning - turned on the TV at 7:00 and saw Adam's BTIKM video on FUSE channel! HURRAY - FINALLY!! Also, Monday morning couldn't sleep and saw Adam on Sexy Beats at 3AM!
Adam is everywhere! So happy and proud of his great success!!!

All the suggested shows would be fun and interesting...Didn't know OWN isn't doing so well. I watch "The next chapter" and Masterclass". Adam would be a great candidate for Masterclass in which famous people talk about the struggles they had to overcome to become succesful.
AI better get Adam on the books here soon because his schedule seems to be filling up real quickly.....

It would be good for Adam to do the Rosie show although don't know how many people watch it. Adam needs to go on the view,Kelly Ripa, GMA, and some other evening shows. Would rather have Haley on, heard she is recording an album.

What Kris Allen do after American Idol? Has he succed? Is more succesful than Adam?
I ask this because I found on a youtube video some comments like this :
"I look at the journey both artist took along the way and see Kris coming so much farther than Adam. That is a fact and that is the reason Kris won American Idol and outperforms Adam. Kris is better both studio and live. I don't see Adam beating Kris in any way, especially today because Kris has far exceeded everyones expectations and has been growing into a better artist every day he sings. Could not be more impressed."

The YouTube video about Kris is obviously done by fan(s) who love Kris. Kris is a sweet guy but is in now way in Adam's league. Adam has a huge international fanbase. He has top producers and writers excited to work with him. He is selling well. I think Kris will do fine in his career, too. I hope his fans enjoy his ride as much as we Adam fans are enjoying Adam's.

I read translation of that Russian radio interview and I'm so excited to hear that they really wanted Queen to tour with Adam. Russians are too picky about music and they love ones with great vocal ability. They were impressed with Adam's vocal technique and they said Adam's vocal technique is to close to Freddie and he can well pull off Freddie style of singing. They didn't like Paul Rodgers when he toured with Queen in Russia. They said so many positive things about Adam. Somebody should post that radio translation.

@Alexandra according to Billboard Adam is a winner. Don't believe everything you read under blog's comment section. Even American Idol called Adam a winner.

When Sauli's plane landed and the Glambert's saw the touching reunion between Sauli and Adam, Grinch-like their hearts <3 <3's knew instantly that they could not keep their captive, he must be returned to his loved ones and be free to entertain the world with his golden voice. It had been selfish of them to keep him.......plus Sauli's pilot had informed them that Glamberts back on the mainland had assembled a mighty force to come and rescue him and since they knew that a pi**ed off Glambert could be merciless and something to fear they willingly hopped aboard the plane and whisked back to reality. The End
