Yea, very true and a puzzlement; the non Idol winners, many cited in this segment, are definitely more visible as having made it than the winners. Quite strange and there seems no clear-cut answers to this predicament. The most spectacular example is of course, Adam. But in his case, some rather notorious explanations have surfaced; but what about the others, mentioned...a paradox. I think Adam is the most famous, all-time Runner-up ever to be known. I heard Adam being teased in a friendly way, (video) when someone called him, The Runner-up; almost like a title in its own capacity. LOL! :)

I'd much rather spend a lot of time with somebody and really get to know them for a story because it gives you so much more background than spending 20 minutes on the phone with someone when they're really guarded. I think it gives you a sense of what people are like and what their story is.

Quote from Melissa...WTF

OT Please vote top 5 at 5 on 102.9 KDMX Dallas for Never close Our Eyes. It was # 2 on Wed. but didn't make it yesterday. Go to the home page and down on the right is the list of songs, click Adam's song up and hit request. You can do it as many times as you like. This station is spinning it. so show them how much we love the song!

OT, Blast from Past >

This song was apparently, along with Sleepwalker, one of the Ryan Tedder penned tracks that were slated to appear on Adam's FYE album but didn't eventually make the cut.

It seems nice and well fitting for Adam's voice.

Obsession by Ryan Tedder:

@JoJo;

to release the pain of waiting, try your luck in spotify, if you have one. Works for me :) Been listening like maniac... But can't wait to get my OWN copy!

@Jax,

Can't help figuring out how much more powerful this would be with Adam's voice. Like this song :)

I was exactly thinking about the same thing when listening to this.

Ryan's a pretty good singer, but he can't pull this off as flawless, when singing it live. Adam can.

Luv them both.

Nice overview of the some successful non-winners. Adam, of course, is the ALL-TIME WINNER!!!!

Wish they'd shown a current picture of him. Oh well.

I just read Adam's tweet about the radio meet and greets. Ok it looks like I am saving for a meet and greet again. Uretha was right when she was explainning what he meant by it.

I think the majority of Adam's fans knew perfectly well what Adam meant about "F-ed up retail.." It was so obvious to me..and I would never assume he was referring to the fans with the "f-ed up" quote of his interview soundbite. He loves his fans and would never diss them (us)..I couldn't imagine why anyone would ever doubt that. He is such a sweetheart and SO patient with us..and I'm glad he explained it further, just to set the record straight..He must have seen a lot of tweets wondering what he meant. I knew what he meant tho...and was one of those happy fans who met him during his last round of radio promo..So while I feel frustrated for him that he has to go to the stations to "sell" himself and his music (they just need to play it, damn it!!), I'm also grateful for that opportunity. He is an absolute sweetheart, no doubt about it! And he proves that over and over again.

Anonymous said...

He likes to write music but not promoting. Promoting for him is like fu**g retail all over again and having to deal with people. NO he doesn't like to deal with the fans face to face. Once again he was too upfront for his own good.

Anonymous said...

10:29 wow how do you know so much about what makes Adam tick? You don't so quit acting like you do.

Anonymous said...

It's on the RS article. Have you read it?

Anonymous said...

He didn't say he didn't like meeting the fans. During gnt he used to come outside to sign autographs after the concert.

Anonymous said...

If Adam didn't like meeting the fans he wouldn't meet the fans, He is a big boy.

Anonymous said...

Read the article in more detail. Sign autographs after the shows it's all a part of the "Show Must Go On" my dear.

Anonymous said...

Some needy fans got pissed?

Anonymous said...

NCOE going to flop too? No radio play yet, why?

Anonymous said...

Adam just tweeted about how that f-ed up retail comment does NOT refer to him and his fans. NOT AT ALL. He explained that it refers to marketing himself to radio stations. Meeting fans is work, to be sure, but Adam seems to enjoy it.

11:07 In what world do you live in where Adam's songs aren't being played ANYWHERE and EVERYTHING he does flops and he'll NEVER be a success? In the world I live in, he's doing pretty darn well.

NCOE can't flop yet. I'm just beginning to really like it. Why the hurry?

glitzylady said...

@Anon 10:29AM
Excuse me, but oh, BS!! Did you not see his tweets?? He explained that the "f-ed up retail" comment DID NOT APPLY TO MEETING HIS FANS!! Good grief!! Also see my comment at 9:49 AM....

Adam's tweets last night explaining the comment...HE LOVES HIS FANS and it is quite obvious..He has expressed that over and over again in interview after interview, especially recently. He is a real "people person"...

Read from the bottom up..

Adam Lambert ‏ @adamlambert
Thank u all for "GETTING IT" :)

Adam Lambert ‏ @adamlambert
The best part of those visits is the actual PERFORMING. that's when I get to connect w you guys in my favorite way- thru music.

Adam Lambert ‏ @adamlambert
However, to clarify my quote bout the radio station visits. 'f'd up retail' part ain't meeting fans, it's selling myself to the stations.

Adam Lambert ‏ @adamlambert
New Rolling Stone interview prob my most personal yet. What a great chat I had w Jonah! Hope it gives you some insight to my reality.

Why does he have to clarify his quotes all the time? He better get his shit together.

who left the troll gate open?

Can't wait to see Adam perform on IDOL on May 17th. I just read that Lisa Marie Presley will also be on the show singing her new single. Kind of ironic, since at times Adam with his different looks/styles has been compared to that of the younger Elvis. I had a parallel picture of the two of them in profile on my computer where they could have been brothers. I just hope that his appearance singing NCOE gives this single and his album the platform that he needs to bring it to the viewing audience and for sales. I will be waiting for my deluxe edition of Trespassing in the mail but will also go out on May 15th to buy another copy so I can play it in the car on the way home

Adam did all those radio promos recently "to sell himself to the stations", but I still have not heard NCOE in NJ from the NYC stations I listen to. One of the stations even talked about what a nice guy he was during the interview and yet they did not even play the song at that point. The music business seems to be reaching rock bottom as mediocre, no talent performers have hit records while someone like Adam with an amazing voice has to fight tooth and nail to have his songs played.I guess it doesn't say much for the listening audience,but does show us the effect that pop culture has on every aspect of society esp. with the music. I just wonder how much the winner of this year's Idol will have a successful recording career in view of what is popular in music today.

Anonymous @10:29

No one has to work as hard as Adam promoting their music. other less-talented artists' music just gets played...period. Not fair....but the fans reap the benefits of intimate mini-concerts and interactions with him. Perhaps that is why he is so beloved.

@Anon 12:44

Because his words get taken out-of-context most of the time.

He does have his stuff together.

7:29p.m. I agree with you i have never read so many nagative statements I don't know why they even bother to come on this site if they don't like Adam then go some where else there is a thin line in some of these remarks & bullying I just want to reach into my computer & say GO AWAY. My trespassing deluxe box was shipped 5/10 so possibly tomorrow that would be the best mothers day gift yet but I won't tell my kids that. UPS is going to work saturday because of mothers day HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL. LOVE ADAM LAMBERT & HIS MUSIC

I'm quite excited for ADAM to sing on Idol at the same time the King of Rock's daughter will also be singing. What a fabulous timing!

Anonymous said...

All you glamberts posting new things about Adam really makes it easy for Admin...LOL Good on ya!!!

Anonymous said...

JAK, I wouldn't worry. I just got my email about shipping yesterday and I ordered a long time ago, too. You should be hearing soon. Seems like kind of a haphazard sequence that the notices are coming in, but I think we'll all get what we ordered. Now, if we can just all go out on Tuesday and buy just ONE MORE copy from the local store, it would help, too! I'm gonna try.

BTW, I'm thinking that when the album is officially released, the playing of the singles and other songs from TP should increase, esp. since the album has been getting great reviews. THEN, I think our requesting at the radio stations will get more response. Hope so.

@ DRG.........JAK here

I hope so, I've never had a problem with Amazon, I'm just getting so "antsy". The more I listen, the more I want my own cd to cuddle up to with earphones in my dark room and bed-dance myself into a frenzy...then drift away to OOL clutching my tear soaked pillow.

Too dramatic...ya think? Oh well, I am going Cuckoo!

JAK, I'm with ya! We're all going Cuckoo, but that all part of being Outlaws of Love.
