From my first marketing course in college, as I recall, when there is one complain about a product that means 42 other people feel the same. I came across this same complain, of music stores having empty shelves of Trespassing album, on different internet blogs. This is a big sales loss of the album. Same thing happen with FYE album. Is it that RCA only relying on internet sales and avoiding physical album sales at music outlet stores? Does it cost a lot of money to stock up albums because of third party or middle man? Well, I was hoping TP to sale over 100K on its first week and not 70K-80K.

There was a tweet tonight that any CDs purchased from Amazon at this point won't be included in the numbers toward #1, so we need to buy either physical CDs from either Target, Walmart or BestBuy, or download from iTunes.

Personally I am not a fan of NCOE I find it flat and it has no ooomph but for Adam to release more single it needs to be a success so less complaining as it doesn't help and more requesting.

Its sad that a number of people have complained about low stocks of Trespassing in fact one said the clerk told her they received 3 copies of the original and 1 deluxe in TOTAL!!! RCA seem to have dropped the ball on that one but hopefully they can sort that out for second week sales.

I don't care how many records Adam sells to make it to no. 1, if he does no one can take that from him and it will always be reported that his sophomore album debut at #1. By the way I read how they come up with those predictions and it seems they do not take into account Amazon and sales from AO so hopefully in the final tally it will improve the numbers!!!

the walmart store in Lithfield Illinois only got 9 cds what is up with that some stores said they only got two how are we suppose to buy them if they are not there. I don't understand why Adam is not advertised more I guess if it was snoop dog or some rapper it would br ok filth that is not fit to listen to.

I remember when Billboard reported 500K to 600K for Lil Wayne's album and he ended up selling close to 1 million copies of his latest album on its first week. Billboard usually reports low numbers.

this was three years ago so I could be all wet. I thought with Adam's first album they predicted 220 and he sold 198.

I still don't understand why the radio stations are not playing NCOE here in the NYC/NJ listening area. All you hear are the same rotation of songs over and over or sheer garbage, unintelligible, gross lyrics geared to a brainless group of listeners. I do like Adele and Carrie Underwood, but isnt there room for the most talented vocalist in music today on that list? Adam seems to be wearing himself out with all these radio promos, mini concerts and tv appearances(which I Love), but is it really helping to sell the album and promote NCOE from it. What else does he have to do to get heard, to have the stores stock enough copies of the cd for buyers, to stop using "gay" pop singer/idol finalist in so many interviews? I hope his appearance on IDOL did show the viewing audience what an amazing voice and stage presence he has. Adam was truly happy performing NCOE and we all saw that. Can't wait to see the vid for NCOE. I am sure it will be something very different and creative.

NCOE does not go to radio until the 28th so just request and be ready to keep requesting - fans are ahead of the curve so it feels 'late' to us, but has not even officially gone to radio yet. I know, it makes no sense how others can be immediately on the radio, played hourly or more and rise quickly.

Why the hell don't the Amazon sales count toward #1? Makes no sense. A sale is a sale. We MUST keep requesting NCOE. Yes, the "push" day isn't till the 28th, but we have to keep up the interest. So glad Adam will likely take #1 on BB.

I attended the Chicago concert last night. Adam was amazing, as usual. It was a young crowd who did not know his songs. He sang five. He did sing WWFM and the crowed reacted to that one. My friend and I danced and sang. The young crowd around us sat, but listened. There was a good AL crowd of supporters there overall.

How come BillBoard doesn't take into account albums bought at Amazon and Adam Official? I don't get that at all so perhaps someone could explain the reason/s to me. Is there a list in America where they state where albums need to be purchased to be counted on the official charts? There's a list of retail outlets including online outlets for the Australian official charts.

Why are many Americans homophobic such that they won't purchase singles and albums by gay artists? Homophobia is so yesterday. :-(

Seems like most stores are out of Trespassing album and people can only buy it now from iTunes for first week sales count. Any purchases now from Amazon or AO will account for 2nd week sales.

With Adam's tweets to make album no. 1 on iTunes to me means that they are close to make it to no. 1. So if you haven't purchased from iTunes do it.

How is it possible to count the number of sold albums if closing day is tomorrow? They knew it on Thursday before AI performance!I Billboard count only number of hard copies which were sold in the stores for 1st week.Probably RCA released 70,000-80,000 hard copies and most of the were sold.RCA are idiots!

Here's another tidbit. If you buy multiple copies in a store, only buy 3 at a time. So, if you buy 15 copies to gift, you need to have 5 separate transactions. Crazy I know! If you buy 15 in one transaction it only counts as 3. Lots of good info on twitter as to how to gift online, through iTunes etc. Adam just tweeted - "Push Glamberts!" LOL! It's like birthing a child!

These twitter messages that 15 count as 3 and that Amazon no longer is counting for this week -- would be good information, if they are true. But where is this information OFFICIALLY coming from? What if these are sabotage tweets?

Next time we have to be better prepared vi-a-vis TACTICS. It would not hurt to ask Adam some of these questions sometime. We need to be educated to help him properly.

Good news is NCOE is rising on the charts. The truth is the fans wanted a happy and easy summer song. It wasn't one of my fave songs either and I said it's like a Eurovision contest song, but the more I hear it, the more I've started to like it, so why not give it a chance. People have different tastes. Runnin is very basic anglo-american pop, but it has no meaning and it's the most depressing song in the album, imo. Dark songs are usually more meaningful, also sexier, and that's why I like the darker songs in the album more.

I have so much to do this weekend and I can't go check out Target and BestBuy to see how they have displayed Trespassing cause they are 1 hr. away from my house. I bought Trespassing from AO, Amazon and iTunes and I got them all on 5/15. I guess we can only buy/gift limited nos. of the album from iTunes and I have done that already. So I put all I've got on the table and I'm out for this week. Next week I'll check out BestBuy and Target to see what they're doing with Adam's album.

How would you "gift" an i-tunes album to someone else? You would have to have their ID and password. I can find no info. on that type of transaction...neither on the i-tunes site, nor on the e-how tech site.

Last week they only had one copy of the deluxe album, but this week they have several more. So in the first week, they didn't have enough of the cds. Yes, that would affect sales. It is interesting because I think that is the stores thinking it won't sell when it will if they put the cd out and make it available.

I have not confirmed this yet but my understanding is RCA does not decide how many cds to send to a store. It is the stores themselves, Target and Walmart, etc that set the number they receive.
So if your store is out, tell them you want to buy one so they will order more.

If you google Nielsen Soundscan and multiple album purchases you can read tons of articles about this.

I want to do my part to help Adam reach #1 ob BB! I've already ordered several copies from Amazon, AO and iTunes (loving Tsp sooo much). My problem is I just had surgery a few days ago and cannot drive to get to my local Target or Best Buy. I want to gift on iTunes but do not understand how to do it. Could someone please tell me an easy way to do it then I'll gift immediately. Thx for your help!

Well, I've done my part - I already bought 7 CDs thru Amazon and Barnes & Noble and just went to Target and bought 3 more! Target had 'rain checks' on the shelf for TP, so I guess they had been sold out but must have just re-stocked when I went in today. I will donate some of them to Music Can Cure and the '1 in 10' charities. Come on Glamberts, Adam has asked us to keep TP at #1 and I've done all I can afford! He SOOOOO deserves #1 for this remarkable album!! I can't stop listening to ALL the songs! GO ADAM!

For the person confused about gifting in iTunes, go to the dropdown arrow by "buy album."
One of the dropdown choices is "gift this album". A new page opens and all you need is their email address. Make sure the "send gift via email" button is clicked. Directions are all on that page. Make sure the recipient downloads the album (download it today would be best to make sure it counts.)

O.K I got half way through these comments and didn't want to lose my train of thought. Yes we are all reveled up and so many questions and no real accurate answers. (glitzylady where are you?) One I would like to know as others have asked- how do you GIFT this??? I'm not computer savvy, have an i'tunes account, but still don't know how to gift this? My walmart in fla did have adam in new releases in the back (10 delux and 10 regular-(on may 15th! Look at that display in Japan- just wow- that's how it should be done!!! My computer went blank after Naked Love (SCREAM) and I got it back on during Cuckoo. What did I miss?? Pleeease tell me.

I just finished watching Adam on the Live Ustream KISS 108 concert from Boston. He sang Trespassing, Kickin In, Shady, WWFM , NCOE, Naked Love and Cuckoo. I thought that Trespassing and NCOE sounded the best. To me there were some issues with the backup singers being too loud or off key and even some of the band members seemed too loud at times....sound problems I guess and Adam kept on playing with his ear buds-mikes. But overall, he seemed to be having a great time( a bit hot there) which lead to Naked Love. I liked the colored tee shirt and long leather vest he had on, almost some kind of American Indian Motif(not really sure) and he still had on the neon yellow nail polish from Idol. I guess these live mini radio concerts give him the opportunity to try out which songs he will eventually perform on tour and to iron out all the kinks and problems. I realize one of the backup singers is new so it might take a while to get in sync with Adam. But I will listen to him anywhere at any time and I did play Trespassing very loud in the car today as Adam suggested and I am nowhere near the teenagers in age that he was talking to in the audience. We can all enjoy Adam Lambert at any age.

Adam came out AFTER Andy Grammar. BIGGEST applause I'd heard all day and every seat full... but folks standing up out of their seats and rocking.

He sounded GREAT... Lots of families there, thot he'd cover up his mouth or skip the ---k during cukoo but sang it right out... The first one anyway, skipped the 2nd. Hope that's not an issue... other that that and him getting sound feedback on stage he was great! Looked great in a beautiful black indian necklace type dcorated t-shirt printed both sides and a long flounce edge black leather vest. Hope more folks bought Tresspassing there.

What Countdown at # 30?

Adam should never agree to play brief shows like that during daytime. He's a nighttime performer! I find that it's not fair to REAL performers like Adam to not even have 2 minutes to soundcheck their equipment. It's easy for a guy like Grammar to come on stage with only his guitar and start singing away. But I wouldn't fret too much about it, because the top charter girl Carly Jay (Repson?) had to restart her song 3 times and she is backed by major people in the biz (Bieber people!). I find that those radio station would be better off to invite less singers but offer 45 minutes to 1 hour sets each.

Yes, I'm having the same problem and I've had that same problem many times in the past. However, earlier today it did work for me.

Can you imagine the excitement he will have if he is number one on BB? What an accomplishment for him. He loves his Glamily and we love him so much we will buy multitudes of CDs to achieve this. This is my main dream right now. :)

Just finished watching the KISS interview with Adam that he did after the concert. He seemed so happy, upbeat and chewing away on that gum. This album Trespassing is his baby and he poured his heart and soul into the making and producing of it. Adam doesn't seem too concerned about the numbers, but it would be great for all those #1 listings we are reading and seeing as they jump up and down to give him that #1 spot. He said he did this album for his fans and also for himself about his experiences and people he met in the last several years, I guess since his GNT and Idol. The music on the album is energetic, funky, upbeat and so danceable along with the other songs that are deeper, darker and more introspective. Right now I love Cuckoo and Underneath as my favorites. Tomorrow it will probably something else because these songs are just that good. I'm glad I was able to watch his mini concert on KISS because it certainly made my Saturday afternoon.

Thanks for the great link to today's show. The sound was much better than in Chicago where I saw him. At least it sounded that wayon the video. Love that he sang Naked Love. He's really getting the crowd to start doing the Whoa, whoas in Naked Love. That will be so much fun when we ALL do it at his own concerts. Can't wait for that!

Seen a few earlier, but this was the full one! 30 minutes later (in my glory, I'm here to report back) I'm from ma, and how I so wanted to go to that concert (beem there numerous times in my life)great outdoor venue, no small venue that place is! Anyway I got the feel of being there, not the best video (kept skipping, but hey at least we got to see it yeah! Adam looked amazing as usual. He's really becoming THE performer of our times to watch!!!

Is anyone beside me nervous about Adam hitting #1? I just hate to get overly confident. I think the buying frenzy needs to continue through the end of the day Sunday. The article indicates Adele could his 70K high and Adam 70K low. I want him to have this SO bad.

I don't know who is at fault but someone did not calculate the number of cds their stores would need of Trespassing. Everyone does not order on line or through i tunes. I did see it advertised in Target a week before its release and that's where I bought one of my copies. I know that Walmart also had it. How many in each store, that I don't know. This is not Adam's responsibility. I know we all want Adam to have those great numbers in sales. He has said it doesn't matter that much to him(of course, it does), but he made this album for the fans, himself, and it has received all those positive reviews for which he is extremely happy. I suppose he is doing all these mini radio concerts to see how the album is being received and which songs go over well with the audiences. After seeing some glitches with the sound at the KISS 108 concert, these are elements that have to be worked out before he decides to put his own tour together. Adam is such a perfectionist, that when he finally does go out on tour, it will be exactly as he wants it to be.

@9:29PM I think Adam said that he doesn't care about charts. He didn't say anything about sales. I think Adam needs to change management. I thought it was happen few months ago.However, it seems that RCA still rules.Hope Adam will have a chance to release new single before he go for rehearsals and tours in Europe. He still needs big single hit. Tresspassing never was released as single.But somehow it's doing very good on Itunes charts. This should be great summer single hit.

How about all the naysayers look on the empty shelves as a good sign, that Adam is far more popular than people believed.
I'm happy with the numbers, to be honest I thought they'd be lower given his single sales this era. BTIKM opened with 39,000, and NCOE with 29,000. So based on that O was expecting around 50,000.
AO and places like that may not be counted on the HDD guestimate, but they are counted towsrds the total sales, as are Barnes and Noble. Amazon etc like Glitzylady said (thank goodness for her voice of reason on here).

.NEWS ALERT! Just got back from BEST BUY. I had to run an errand over toward the east side of Dallas, in Mesquite, which tbh probably leans more country. The highschool kids are usually in cowboy boots/jeans. I saw a Best Buy so I ran in to check the stock #cray and I was so disappointed because there were many copies of the deluxe at the New Release area and the end caps. I stopped a young guy nearby and held up a copy of TP deluxe. I asked him who was in charge of the music area and he said the lady was out to lunch but he helped her stock. I said I was really surprised that there were so many of these (holding up Trespassing Deluxe) and he said: WAIT FOR IT…. we just restocked 30 minutes ago. I said, ok I see, how many did you have to start with. He said THREE HUNDRED. I said, really, ARE YOU SURE? He looked at me funny and said, yes, I’m positive, we got 2 big boxes in on Tuesday. I said, and you ran out? He said yes, that’s been selling like crazy. EEEEP!

I went to Target the first day and both the regular and Deluxe were sold out. The clerk then printed a list of about 10 other Targets in the area and wrote down how many were supposedly at each store (the store I was at said there were 4 or 5 but they were all gone. This was at 12 noon and they had opened at 8am, so apparently their system wasn't up to date. Anyway, she wrote down anywhere from 4-7 supposedly were at each store. I do think this is how many were ordered though for each store since the first store still showed them on the shelves when they were really gone.

I got two copies on friday when they dropped in oz. KMART aren't even stocking them not in the mall I go to anyway. Was back there today still none. Only 4 copies left in JB hi fI. I love my album every song even my hubby thinks it is a great album. Can't wait for the video. Goodluck Adam you amazing!!!!!

I knew someone would bring up the family friendly 'cuckoo' moment at Boston. Hells bells, even my ll year old who loves ADAM and is a performing arts kid...tells me the song's lyrics should never be altered, family friendly or not.
The song belongs to Adam sung with grit and to change it would wrong.

I'm looking at the US itunes overall album chart and Trespassing is still at #2. Where do you see John Mayer, pop chart? Only Adele can take the Billboard #1 spot from Adam. JfC, people are still buying her album. I've never bought Adele's album and never will. Duffy was so much better.

I must say that I'm surprised that Trespassing is selling so well despite the fact that the first two singles haven't taken off to a good start. Both of those songs are boring. ANY other song on the album would have been a better choice than either of those two.
But the album needs to keep doing well consistently to be considered a success. And that is going to mean that the casual listener will have to like it and want to buy it. It won't be enough for the same superfans to buy multiple copies over and over. Unless they have and endless supply of money.

OK, Monday the 28th is the real push date for NCOE, right? So, let's see if it makes a different with radio play. We have to keep requesting once that push date arrives. You'd think with the high visibility of the album on the Billboard charts, that program directors and DJs would very likely play the song. I hope it makes a difference. Can't wait for the video! That should knock everyone's socks off, too, and increase the sales.

Radio is a dying medium, according to my 16 yr old son and his friends. They never listen. They download all artists and songs they like. When I asked him if he ever heard Adam on the radio, I got the "MooooooM, who listens to radio?" And then I realized I don't listen to it either!

12:41. You are so right! My 16 year old niece says the same thing. Who listens to the radio? Is it just the over 30 year olds? As we kill ourselves requesting NCOE to get it radio play, I wonder why it's all so darn important if the majority of the music-listening audience doesn't listen to the radio. But yet, this is what we are told will help Adam. And Adam must believe what he is told also. It seems that radio is still how a song gets out there to many people and finds a following. It's all so contradictory. We have to do what will help Adam the most, but sometimes it doesn't seem to make any sense.

Forgot to add, my niece says she doesn't hear the newest music by her favorite singers on the radio first. She hears the songs first on digital and fansite media and then downloads what she wants. Radio isn't a factor.

I have to say quite honestly I very rarely listen to the radio either..except for the occasional traffic report..or when Adam is on NPR for an interview...or is on the Seacrest show (also rare..)..or when the station is running a contest for Adam Lambert meet and greets..etc...Its not that I dislike what's on there (mostly..),its just that I have my own music selections that I listen to, and of course Adam, and since I have a lot of music downloaded( including both new and older music), I make playlists and listen to them either on CD's that I burn and listen to or on my iPod. Or I play CD's of the Artists that I like...Most of my new music comes from keeping my eyes and ears open, reading about an artist, hearing about them some other way. And I'm not a teenager. : ))

I suspect that although perhaps teens and twenty-somethings don't listen to radio much, radio PLAY for artist's music is the way popularity is counted for Top 40 so it still is important in that regard. Because for pop(ular) music, if it isn't in the Top 40, and preferably up toward #1 then it isn't considered to be successful. Its a measure of success, whether we like it or not...Maybe its time to change the measuring stick. Although, with everyone listening to their own playlists, some pirating music off the internet, having friends download music and burn discs for them from their friends' music collections, etc..I'm not sure exactly how they would rate music from 1 to 10....And the requesting music on the radio is flawed these days too.. Guess someone will figure it out...Eventually..

So,we need to stop to buy Tresspassing from AO and go back to download it from Itunes. Don't think it will help but who knows.
