Interesting artistic choice. Not what I was expecting considering the other pics we have seen. Thx for posting.

Whoa!! Adam, you look sooo avant-garde, beautiful, slim and tall! Hey I love Runnin; keep listening to the snippet over and over. The crescendo and the ending blow-out, after running a lot, is spectacular. :)

I think Perez Hilton will love this photo. It's a lot to talk about! I could start but prefer to shut my mouth!!!!!
Anyway, hilarious photo. If Adam would be still popular like he was three years ago, this picture would make cover pages on all tabloids in grocery stores!HA HA HA

Interesting name of the song "Never Close Our Eyes"! I don't think it fits to this strange photo:(

Anonymous said...

Don't like the photo at all. Completely negates the rough edgy front cover. Poor choice.

FYE cover was laughed at, I'm hoping better for this one. This won't help.

Anonymous said...

oh This is the picture on the back of the album? I could really care less about that. The cover art is fantastic.

Anonymous said...

Well, I really like the cover and that is most important. The back, not as much. It looks more like a nod to FYE in a way.

Anonymous said...

it looks like Adam wearing his Gareth Pugh coat and Italian hat in deep, complex thought.

Lam-my I totally agree with your thoughts on "Runnin' "!! I think it has "HIT" written all over it!!!!

Anonymous said...

I think it is brilliant.

Anonymous said...

Trololololol...please keep your opinions to yourself..you are probably Perez Hilton's minion who just hates on everything Adam does. Anyway its an interesting choice considering all the other pics we have seen so far and it would appear the pics were taken in his house since the looks like the infinity pool. But that cover pic is so gorgeous, who will even look at the back :) May 15th come faster!!!!!!

Yep, hit hit hit! Written all over it. Maybe Adam should sing this at the Olympics! First it was rowing across the Atlantic, now Runnin at the Olympics! LOL! :)

YES! I really like the photo! It suits my taste very well. Stylish, Mysterious, artistic and CONFIDENT. I am an artist myself so this is actually growing on me even more, each time I see it and discover new things about it... ;)

Lammy, we're on the same team, Glamberts. Now any differences in points of views regarding the details of the whole main subject, being Adam, is merely a matter of different tastes which as you beautifully put at the end - The Magic of Adam Lambert - gathers us together despite all of them. So let's not use the term "disagreement" as it can divide us into separate groups which has no meaning in our Glamily. Opinions on looks, songs and etc are like the garnishes for a delicious cake. ITS THE CAKE WHICH WE ALL WANT TO DIG INTO! :D We have agreed vehemently on a much more important subject a very long time ago and that's Adam Lambert. :)

FYI, I read your comments almost all the time, love them and mostly find them completely similar to my opinions.

AND thank you for teaching me a beautiful word today, "vehemently".

Luv it. ;)

Anonymous said...

Adam wore that hat after some event..not my favorite, but he seemed to like it..so I guess he wanted to incorporate it somehow on his album...the pic is kinda interesting..and it is only a picture..no where near as outlandlish as the FYE cover..btw..how do you know he has an infinity pool???? never read anything about that..(would love to be given a tour of his house!!!)

Anonymous said...

Very artistic and mysterious. . . I love it!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

I love this picture, I agree with other comments it's mysterious and quiet beautiful, I love all Adam's photos for his album, but I'm sure it's better to change them up rather than having them all look the same so once again I love this one for being that little bit different.

Artist...whoa! Well I have delved quite a bit in art; dabbled in oil painting, looove pottery because what I put in the kiln for firing and what comes out as the final product are two totally different things! The surprise one gets is pulsating. Also did some fabric printing, curtain material. The lecturer gave me quite good marks for them. LOL. Yea what you say about being on the same Lambert team absolutely makes sense. I too feel differing opinions are more enriching for the mind. You're very welcome about the new word. :)

And still divisons in the camp.
Time to support Adam and not nitpick his album backcover, which is classfully and mysteriously
beautiful! Get this man to where he belongs, which is superstardom.

Anonymous said...

The picture reminds me of a paranormal legend called "The Hat Man'. The hat looks like a Gaucho and the long coat looks like a take off from coats worn in the 1800's but the whole look reminds me of dressy Gaucho.

Anonymous said...

Whatever Adam does, he will surprise us and do the unexpected. That backcover pic is dark and kind of alternative art-ish, just what Adam wanted it to be, I'm sure. It's the not "cute and pretty" pics we've been seeing. He gets us buzzing with a twitch of his finger.

Never boring, never complacent, never predictable ADAM! Lovin' it.

There have been several pictures Of Adams pool in his house, it has a wall dividing it into 2 parts so it looks like you can walk on water, there's a cute picture of Riff laying on the wall floating around, and that gorgeous photo of him in the denim shirt with the sparkling toes.

Adam will never be boring! He'll always change things up and get us talking and debating and flailing. This pic is a great surprise for the back of the album. Makes you look and pay attention and think about it. Androgynous. Adam still likes to do that sometimes. I love his daring and gutsiness. It will be part of his amazing legacy.

For me this picture could also symbolize trespassing? Listening to this album is trespassing to Adam's life, and in the picture he (or someone, because you can't see his face!) is walking from or to somewhere. I love his pretty pictures, but I think this is symbolic pic in many ways. Good to have both sides in album cover :)

I just can't believe he is standing the water in those EXPENSIVE Rick Owen boots!!!

Oh the back he is mysterious, his hat covers his face, you can't see who it is, what the person is feeling or thinking. Then flip it over and on the front he reveals himself and has let us in as he looks at us directly and honestly. It's the flip sides of being closed and mysterious vs. open and vulnerable.

Adam is creative genius.

So interesting to read everyone's comments about this back cover picture of Adam. It's definitely a conversation piece, and in Adam style, he wants us to think, go deeper into the meanings "Underneath". With Adam, there is always so much symbolism represented.

I have no art background whatsoever but I do know this is Art!

IMO: There he stands, his androgynous self, simply standing alone, for all eyes to see, bowing his head in deference, as we have all "Trespassed" into the real Adam.

Makes sense to me that this artistic expression would be on the back cover or at the end of our "Trespassing" journey.

Two differnt looks for the two halves of the albulm. The front half is strong, proud and rebellous while the back half is introspective and moody. I would think it matches the feel of the music.

Love the first picture for Adam's beautiful face. Love the second picture because it is artistic.

Anonymous said...

I just wish there's nothing for haters to nitpick with this Trespassing album cover like the effect of his FYE cover. But I'm disappointed here it is. My first reaction is SHOCK why looking like a girl? I was hoping he will gain back fans he lost and those who didn't buy his FYE because of the cover. The baby boomers understand the androgenous cover of David Bowie but not the now generation.

Anonymous said...

The front cover shows a sexy masculine Adam; which is the way we see him, outwardly. The back cover which we don't see, from the front, is his hidden effeminate side. The half-covered face also symbolises androgyny; that is we can't tell whether the person in the picture is male or female. But I know it's Adam. LOL! :)

Adam will always be just who he is .... absolutely unique, interesting and honest to the deepest degree. Expressing our unique opinions is why this blog was created, a voice to what makes him so fascinating. I guess I don't really think about whether I like a look or not. I know it is a carefully crafted expression and therefore, being completely smitten and devoted, they are always beautiful and mesmerizing. Every look is like a piece of modern art that stops me dead in my tracks and makes me search the meaning. This photo triggered a memory of Adam saying, "can't men also be beautiful", mysterious and alluring? I think we will always see this tall, dark, handsome man with a glint of what makes women stunning. Sometimes it will be subtle and sometimes it will be in the forefront.

Can you dig it??????

Also LOL a hopelessly LOL forever LOL fan LOL!!!!

@Anon 8:54 AM
If it's the "haters" who are going to nitpick over this picture on the backside of an album cover, then I assume they 1. Wouldn't be buying it anyway 2. Wouldn't have bothered to pick it up and turn it over so wouldn't see the picture anyway either. 3. Adam doesn't let haters make his decisions for him, although he DOES thank them for making him stronger. 4. If Adam based his choices for album art, or anything else, on what the haters will say, and do or not do, he would be letting them win. He doesn't do that. (And the front cover picture(s) is totally fabulous!!) 5. He has addressed that sort of issue previously on more than one occasion. It can best be summed up by two letters: FU (in response to the haters). 6. And lastly, hard-core haters are gonna hate, no matter WHAT he puts on the back (or front) of the album cover. Sadly...

Adam is an artist, not only with his music, but in his daily life. He loves art, fashion, he's "theatrical" and loves to tell a story with his music. This picture on the back of the album is helping to tell that story. He remains true to himself. I would suggest we stop worrying about what the "haters" and the ignorant, un-evolved denizens of the world will think about this picture and instead thank Adam for his commitment to his music, his fans, his art, and his vision for this album.

I respect the right for everyone to express an opinion of course, but I hope we can appreciate this picture for what it is, which is ultimately part of Adam's gift to us, this fabulous album, full of insights into Adam "underneath". Perhaps part of the symbolism of the back cover picture is the covered up and mysterious Adam Lambert: "Who is this man, this "Outsider", this "Trespasser", this "Non-conformist", REALLY? What's he like inside, heart and soul laid bare, without the make-up and glitz and glam??".. The music inside tells us who he is, what he feels, his life, and who he loves: "Adam Lambert Revealed: Underneath". Perhaps an alternate title to this album could have indeed been just that.

Anonymous said...

I don't see why that pic is at all effeminate (and so what if it is)- guys wear hats too, try to open open your minds to not having pre-set ideas of how men and women are supposed to look. For all the hand-wringing over wanting Adam to fit in with the masses and not create controversy, there is a equal amount of hand-wringing that he is not being risky enough. He just should please himself and do what he wants as there is no pleasing this diverse fandom.

glitzylady said...

@Coloforadam
Beautifully stated!! Bravo..and I totally agree with everything you said! Perfect!

And yes, I can DEFINITELY DIG IT!! And I do! Adam is a handsome AND a beautiful man.

An aside: I work in dentistry. How does this have anything to do with this conversation you ask??? Well, it brings to mind when we're working on teeth in my office (as we do in dentistry : )) , my male boss goes to great lengths to be sure he says a tooth looks "handsome' when it's attached to a male mouth.. I almost always say "well it looks beautiful too!" because its a TOOTH and to my knowledge it has no gender! But the real point that I'm trying to make is that my male boss is very concerned that he not call anything male-connected "beautiful" because it is not a "masculine" word..at least in HIS mind... and he doesn't want to suggest that anything male is "beautiful" because in his mind it is a feminine pronoun when in the context of a person.. So ridiculous but that's the mentality in many circles.

Anonymous said...

For heaven's sake, are we sprouting psychoanalysts? Deep meanings abound. It's a picture of Adam in a coat and hat he likes.
It is art-y but I don't think it was a good choice for this period in his career. Does that make me a hater? How ridiculous, Idon't believe anyone said they hated the photo, some just didn't like it much for the album. Does that make them ignorant and un-evolved haters? A bit of hysteria is floating around. Get a grip.

Some people think the Mona Lisa is a masterpiece. When I stood in front of it I thought it was dull and about as artistic as a photobooth snapshot. Just differing opinions not a reason for a tirade. WTF ?

Anonymous said...

Many interesting views and opinions on the back photo, which is what makes Adam so intriguing, never common or boring. Whether we like it or not is immaterial. What it evokes for me is a creature of another plane-- androgynous (as we all one time were), mysterious, alluring, and being on water in the dark, the image is the flip side of the other photo--the bright, colorful, and just born-from-the-waters (weren't we all from the water-filled womb). Adam bids us farewell for now--fade to black into the sea, as befits the true Aquarian that he is. In a way, the two photos are a reminder of the universal and marine elements of our origin. That he infuses his message with breath-taking artistry and provokes all this commotion is pure Adam. atm

Anonymous said...

This pic is quite MJ's style. Perhaps deliberately so. I like MJ's music a lot, but I also like Brit pop and I'd like Adam would be Robbie Williams' successor. I'd also like if he did some collaboration with David Guetta and Kelly Rowland in the future. It can't be impossible, since at least Kelly has shown interest in it. I'm impressed of the collaboration with Nile Rodgers. Can't wait to hear Shady.

Anonymous said...

The bowed head and the stance is the salute-like image of one who is saying, "Good-bye (God be with you, in short)". He has his hat on and the coat is buttoned, and the man (from the past, future, another era or planet?) is leaving us the same watery way he came. atm

I get what you're saying about pottery, pulsating indeed.

Making music, Architecture, Gardening, Pottery and many other subjects share this quality. It's very odd the sensation it gives you when you grow a thing from scratch and turn it from the most simple things into masterpieces that you never knew they could become!

Adam is one of the rarest people who can do such thing with music and that's what makes him very powerful in that field I think.

@Anon 10:11 AM
In response to your post:

First of all, I see some direct language that I suspect came from my comment at 9:46 AM. If so, my comment about "the "haters and the ignorant, un-evolved denizens of the world" was directed to @Anon 8:54 AM 's CONCERN that the back cover picture would give Adam's true "haters" one more thing to "nit-pick about". I was NOT in any way, shape or form calling anyone here who doesn't like or is concerned about the picture "ignorant and un-evolved haters". Geez.. Give me a break... Please read my comment again, as well as @Anon 8:54 AM 's. I absolutely respect anyone's opinion regarding Adam's choice of clothing or picture. What I DO NOT respect is the Adam-bashing and the blatant disrespect that I see in the comment sections of articles about him. Those people who seek out the Adam Lambert articles specifically to say mean, hateful and often untrue things about him. THOSE are the "ignorant and un-evolved haters" to whom I referred..not to anyone with a differing opinion than mine about his outfit, or his reasons for presenting it on the album. Because in the whole scheme of things, it isn't that big a deal. The MUSIC inside IS the big deal and ADAM is the big deal...

And please, have some respect for those of us who have opinions about the possible symbolism behind his choices. We're having fun..Adam does the same sometimes. He is artistic and introspective. We each interpret art in our own way. I respect your interpretation of the Mona Lisa. Some of us see the surface of the art..the tip of the iceberg as it were..others see the layers underneath. There are also different interpretations of "tirade". Most tirades have some reasons behind them and are not necessarily a bad thing.. You're entitled to yours and I'm entitled to mine. ; )))

Yes, I'm disappointed with this back photo when I thought nothing could go wrong with this Trespassing cover as a lesson from the cover of FYE which scared some people not to buy it. I was planning to gift the FYE as X'mas gifts in 2009 but didn't make the multiple purchase anymore with the double whammy of the AMA fiasco and the FYE cover. I thought this sophomore album would be the right time to encourage again those who turned their backs or lukewarm after the fiasco by buying them as gifts. I'm really disappointed I can't do it again.

Masterpiece or Rubbish, this piece is "enticing dialogue". IMO Nothing is worthier than this quality for a piece to be called an "Art".

Anonymous said...

What's confusing about the photo is why the shapely contour of a waistline? It's not wearing a hat or why that hat nor looking down and not seeing the face. It's having a waistline! Is it the fault of air brushing? Because he looks so svelte here not at all as I know him.

Well this thread certainly did encourage dialogue! I'm sure Adam would love that! Very interesting comments, all of them. Now back to RL.

Wow, who would have thought that the back photo cover of the album would evoke should discussions and comments. But then, anything that Adam Lambert does is ever uninteresting or boring. Whether you love the picture or hate, find it meaningful or ridiculous, think it is fashion or too theatrical, all that should really matter is the music inside. I am sure the picture of Adam on the front cover will get people interested to at least pick it up and look at it. Hopefully most have heard some of the snippets or the actual songs performed by Adam to want to buy the album for its music. This man is just so special,so unique in his approach to everything that he does and that's why I am a devoted fan since day one. He has opened open his heart and soul to us in the songs on this album and revealed so much about what has happened to him in his life with all the heartache, hatred, triumphs, and love he has encountered. Whaatever the symbolism in the picture(or not), I can't wait to get my copy of TRESPASSING and listen to it for hours.

Anonymous said...

@11:31AM Is it only the reason you don't want to buy few copies of Tresspassing just because back cover? I don't this photo also. But who cares. I never paid attention on CD back picutres. Whole design of this CD is amazing. Front picture is deff going to be the banner. But basic album has different photo on the cover.

Just think what a field day a college prof or teaching assistant would have analyzing the music and meaning of Adam Lambert in class. From all the comments on this blog site about the back cover, these would be great seminar sessions. The man evokes so many strong feeings in people and it would be interesting to discuss song lyrics and even this back cover...all that media stuff. Sign me up if this ever happens. They have studied Springsteen's lyrics and others, so why not Adam? On another note, I would love to see GLEE do an entire show perhaps next season of several of Adam's songs from TRESPASSING with Adam himself as a guest. I'd also like to see Adam as a guest host on Kelly Live one morning from NYC where he could also perform. I'm on a roll so I'd better stop before someone calls me obsessed or a fanatic. But then, maybe I am just a bit.

Anonymous said...

11:31, Don't you thnk your gift recipiets have evolved a little by now? Give them some credit. Maybe they're mature enough now to accept the music and not reject the whole CD because of a back cover photo. If they haven't, that's too bad. I'd talk up the quality fo the music to them and give it a try. Somtimes people will surprise you.

So much psycho-analyzing of the cover--if Adam is reading this he must be enjoying. I'm sure he's finding some inventive takes he never even thought about! At this point, about the only thing that has not yet been mentioned: a clever carry-through with the black/yellow color scheme.

11:31 Still afraid of gifting this one? What the heck do you think he's singing about through the entire album?

1:00 A seminar on Adam? Great idea! Adam finally ends up in college--and turns out that he's teaching others!

Note on the Mona Lisa: a very homely woman who experts recently have begun to believe is really a guy. Anyway, the beauty of the subject is not what has entranced scholars over the years. Among other things, it is the way the eyes of the subject seem to follow you all over the room, no matter where you are standing.

SO ADAM'S SALES BOOM AND ONE LUCKY FRIEND GETS TURNED ON TO THE MOST INCREDIBLE SINGER OF ALL TIME.
WHAT DO YOU THINK? AND WHICH WOULD BE THE BEST TIME TO DO THIS TO MAKE HIS SALES SOAR?

Anyone remember....is that still an option....I know they'd like Trespassing.

If Deluxe Pre-Orders don't count towards sales, I'll go to Target or Barnes and Noble to buy the standard. I've ordered several of the Deluxe already. Sorry guys I won't be able to buy on May 15th specifically, I'm having surgery next week and will be in the hospital for a couple of days (shoulder surgery) and I won't be able to drive for several weeks :(

Whenever I'm able to use my arm/hand again to type I'll order extras online! I'll sure be with all of you in spirit though just waiting to see 'Trespassing' soar to the top of the charts. I hope my deluxe ships before I come home from the hospital 'cause I know listening to it will help me heal much faster LOL!

Surely no matter how you purchase the CD or what type of package you buy it will be counted. I cant believe it wont be or artists wouldnt do it.

Disappointed. Not digging it at all. LOVE the front cover but was hoping it would be in the same vein. Sorry. Big fan of Adam's but not of the back cover. Will lessen sales realistically. They rejected FYE due to the cover. Not the best biz decision. But hopefully it will work out if people give his remarkable voice and music a chance. Love him so.

Anon 11:31 - you are saying that a picture of Adam on the BACK cover of the CD is so off-putting that you can't gift it to friends??? Good Grief! The picture on the front of the CD is fierce and most people would not really even take notice of the pic on the back. That's simply ridiculous. When I look at the back of the CD, I would be looking mostly at the listing of the songs - not the picture, necessarily. And certainly not to the point that I would be so 'offended' that I would turn off to the entire album because of it. I'm guessing you are just slightly toooo critical over something as minor as a picture on the BACK of the album. Face it, you are just not a fan of Adam and saying what you did, just to stir things up, proves it. So be it ...

Anonymous said...

I can't imagine anyone NOT buying the album solely because of the picture on the back cover. I sure hope people don't do that.

Anonymous said...

OMG! If somebody doesn't want to buy the "Tresspassing" why we have to be informed? You don't like this back cover photo this is your problem. I don't care if you'll buy Tresspassing or not. Actually, I care. And I found the great name for these "fans"-shmucks! Please, stay away from this blog.

Anonymous said...

I just don't get it. I don't get why people think this picture will affect the sales of his album. It's definitely not as 'out there' as his FYE cover was. It's just a picture of someone in black, standing with their head down, wearing a hat. What's the big deal??

And glitzylady - I agree with all that you've said. Good job.

I saw the album cover poster in Target last week advertising the release date. I've already ordered the deluxe edition through Barnes and Noble, but I may have to go to Target or Walmart to buy a copy that morning and then listen to it on the way home in the car. I don't think I have been this excited about the release of any album since FYE and I can't remember any time before that it happened. I love the album cover, don't really care what is on the back although it is interesting; all that matters to me is what is inside...the music- from the most talented performer in the music business today. Adam certainly keeps us interested and commenting, doesn't he?

Anonymous said...

May 15th, will drive out and buy an extra copy, like you said, for the drive home and then a few for friends.
Already have mine on order.
That cd back side conversation is hilarious.

@anon 1:57 you are right, I will not buy the cd but will buy from iTunes. Adam should have learned a lesson from the past. Good luck Adam, I like you though.

Anonymous said...

@4:39
This is 11:31. I never said I find the back photo off-putting myself. I have ordered a few copies of Trespassing.
As Ihave plans to gift those who stopped being fans because they were put off by the AMA fiasco and by his FYE cover, I won't be able to again for the same reasons. And what's ridiculous is your saying most people will not notice the back photo, not to these people who already have been put-off before. Also, I never said the back photo will lessen album sales. I only said I will not be able to buy more for those people concerned I was supposed to be gifting. I am not critical because I love Adam soo much but only concerned for those who will be critical as I have explained.
What I did before with the FYE albums I have given away (different people than those who have been put off)was exchanged the cover with the FYE single, photocopied it and putting it in place. That's how much I love Adam and how much I want his music heard by others who are not fans. You yourself will not be offended because you are a fan but try to put yourself in the shoes of someone who was a fan but was offended by AMA and those who didn't buy FYE because of the cover. I know several and they are the ones I am trying to win back. Understand my previous post well before you judge.

@DRG
My post above explains it.

@12:57
I did not say I am not buying for I already pre-ordered several. What I said is I am not able to be gifting the people as I have explained above.

Adam is a musical genius. Wanted others to give him a chance. Back cover not my fav image but glad it is on the back. Wish it wasn't on it at all because men will not want to buy it, in my opinion. Someone should have talked him out of it so the sales will be bigger. I love 95% of his decisions but this isn't one of them. I am being real just like he would want. You can still be a megafan but not agree or like everything. This frankly was upsetting because I thought the lessons of FYE were learned. We will see I guess.

I love the idea of one of the comments to gift it to our friends. Let's do it on 5/15! Let's post links of album purchase on all the facebook pages of radios stations that Adam visited back in March. Let's make this album no. 1 on charts. I know we can do it cause we are Glamberts and we love our Rock God, Adam Lambert.

Well, how about people won't play Fever, a high favourite of mine, due to a pronoun. Now, that really stumped me! But I think this stylish back cover Adam picture may not be in the same situation as the pronoun; because a large number now understands Adam slightly better. At the beginning, he came across a bit strong and too early; Adam too realised that. Now at least people don't feel so threatened; deducing from his kind, charitable, magnanimous, open-minded demeanour, that he is not antagonistic. Rather, just wanting to be himself, as simple as that; and expressing his art form the way he feels most passionately; in fact that is what art is all about.

I've stayed out of this discussion so far, but what the heck....
I have never not brought a cd because of the cover, and I find it unbelieveable that some people are that shallow that they would do that. Its just a photo for f**ks sake, everythings covered, there's no nudity, no obscene gestures, no guns, no swearing....what on earth is there to be offended about????
And to ever it was who said that they can no longer 'gift' the album because of the photo, then I'm sorry, but that really doesn't say a lot for your friends. If they are going to freak out over a simple photo like this, then they are never going to listen to Adam even if he's on the cover with wings and a halo....

also just wanted to say that the back of the cd was actually posted on line a few weeks ago, (a store advert with both the front and back of the cd) so its been out there, and doesn't seem to have stopped people ordering it so far.

The rumors about Trespassing being leaked are true..It was streamed by Sony Malaysia... Interesting...Adam came on twitter and seemed surprised: not sure how much he knew or didn't know..and he didn't say anything more other than

Adam Lambert ‏ @adamlambert
Oooh folks are hearing the album?!

...so hmmm...There are rumors that other Sony branches will be streaming as well. The album will be released in just a few days in some countries..and many in Canada have already received their orders..so it was just a matter of time before the songs started showing up. That day has arrived...

Adam really needs this album to sell well and it should because it is soooo good. Music pirating is such a big problem for record labels now..as well as the artists so please buy the album.

I will also admit that I caved and listened to the whole thing (more than once...)..all 15 GORGEOUS AND AMAZING AND SEXXXXYY tracks..and if you think the snippets are good...(which they ARE..) the full songs are beyond beyond beyond: lots of surprises (OMG! Adam's VOCALS!!!! Just so GOOD!)......I seriously believe Adam has delivered his "baby" to us and it is a complete MASTERPIECE..We suspected it before..I can say with great certainty that this album is going to be nominated for multiple Grammy's..Every song is single worthy: TRULY...And Adam's voice is highlighted in sooo many of the tracks..Gorgeous. And the upbeat dance-y tracks are equally fabulous.. The snippets leave out so much...

I can't comment on the individual songs really..WAAAYY past my bedtime, and I have to work tomorrow (today??!) but I will say that "RUNNIN" is a real fav now..love his sexy lower range.. .."Underneath" is gorgeous and raw, "Shady" is really really cool, "Kickin In" and "Pop That Lock" are super dance tunes... and almost everything is SEXY in some way or another...And every single one could be a single...I have no idea how they will decide on the next single...."Nirvana" is..nirvana...

Off to bed...too much flail today!! But just WOW!! Hurray up May 15th!!

I like the back cover .To me it protraits the light and dark side of Adam. That he is always taking about. The beam of light is the light, and the dark is him looking down in a deep thought. Who ever took this picture, I asume it was Lee Cherry, had a vision when taking this. Nice job.

Some of us might have delved too much on the androgyny aspect and probably side-tracked. Now that I look more closely at the back cover picture of Adam, it dawned on me that it might have been his theatre background that inspired this very respectable pose. He is simply taking his final bow to the worldwide fans whom he reiterated that without them his Trespassing album would not have been possible. As a veteran stage actor he always took his final bow after a show and even at the GNT. He is actually standing at attention, hands by his sides and feet together. And his head bowed low, an acknowlegement of gratification with humility. I like this interpretation better than my first one; so touching to me. :)

BTW, love Rihanna for pushing TV boundaries. Did you see her tapping her p.....y several times during her performance on SNL. The TODAY SHOW even showed the excerpt during daytime (11:15 AM) and there was no uproar, nobody offended by it. I'm just still flabbergasted by the double standard that Adam experienced a few years back. @donnaw Don't you know that man clothing is becoming more sofisticated? Didn't you see that boys don't wear baggy pants and ugly t-shirts? The pants they wear now are very tight. Most of the medium size boys wear small size shirts, sweaters, or coats.

donnaw said...

Yes.....and i love it when men wear form fitting clothing.......more of a European cut.
I just don't like this picture of Adam....what can i say? I don't like the way his face is down with the hat brim covering his beautiful face and i don't like the padded shoulders and the way his waist curves in.......
What can i say? I love, love, love the front and i guess that's what i'll look at!!

Anonymous said...

This standing-at-attention posture also reminds me of a sign of respect; like when someone stands in front of an authority. So he is saluting his fans all around the world with love and humility. The head down may be to invoke mystique and keeps people wondering. The water bit is probably to denote his aquarius sign and that water is the source of life; most importantly to remind us about people who don't even have a drop to drink! Adam, you are exactly that picture. :)

The head down position can also mean he is now able to look in at himself and understand who he really is and this is the most difficult part for anyone, not just for Adam. :)

I suggest to just cover with black permanent marker the gaps on both waistline to erase the projection of a feminine figure. That's what I will do to gift those who may be critical of Adam in the first place because of his previous FYE cover. Good luck. I just want to help the sales of Trespassing and not be discouraged, that's the solution. Let's do everything we can to make this #1.

@3:01PM Thanks for posting that youtube video of Bob Dylan song 'The Man In The Long Black Coat'. This picture of Adam probably is a homage to that song. This picture so much tells a story reminiscent of this song. I love this picture and I don't see anything wrong with it. If someone will judge the album because of this picture then maybe Adam isn't for them. They probably won't understand his music. If you want to gift Trespassing then give it to this organization. They want 1000 of TP album. So far they received almost 500 from fans and they need another 500 to reach their goal. Gift TP album here:

The covered face can also mean anonymity, to be just an ordinary person like one of us in the crowd. But some fans are exalting him to a god-like stature. Also the minute he steps out of his car, the whole world is set ablaze. Knowing Adam's work ethic, a lot of thought and depth would have gone into the presentation of his very important Trespassing CD; whether it be the front or back cover. It's sold to several millions of people around the world. You seriously think he had taken it so lightly and frivolously? Being a perfectionist, he would have given more than 100% thought into the making and presentation of his CD. After all, he worked his butt off on the music so why would he not finish it off with a bang. The covers are quite significant in terms of appeal and sales. So to say, "It ain't deep.." and joking about the photo-shoot...kind of diminishes the importance Adam places on the Trespassing CD. He views his work and his fans with high esteem and great depth. :)

Reading the posts, there was no one who ever said he/she is offended by the back cover but someone saying "if they are offended". I don't find any trolls here but bonafide fans who are disappointed with the back cover and the ones who have apprehensions about gifting to those who were put off before and became lukewarm or stopped being fans thus might be critical again. It's mind boggling how people can misinterpret and judge others as trolls. No one I found here who is not a fan. Geez!

Just saw a close-up photo of ADAM wearing the same coat he wore at MTV EMA and in that same back cover and this time it was buttoned up. So the collars look like a stand up turtle neck and shows it is really so fit from the chest which is up to where it shows. So, it is the actual shape and fit of the said coat on ADAM. And since he got slimmer with his juicing, he does have a svelte figure with this coat buttoned all the way up.

Anonymous said...

"Disappointed" is an odd term to use is describing feelings about the back cover. Disappointed about what? That it's not another glamour shot? Adam isn't always interested in doing "pretty boy" photos. This one suits many of the songs on the "dark" side of the album. Mysterious and moody and yes, maybe even humble. I LOVE IT!. And I fully realize that we don't all have to agree.

If it had stopped right there, I would have thought it even cute; but to say, "it ain't deep", it's just not in line with the context and even disrespectful to the commenters, myself included, who were really trying to make some sense of this unique, mysterious back cover picture of Adam. Anyway, thank you; might have "gone over the edge a little". LOL. :)

@ Lam-my Nope still don't see connection. Adam is impulsive. I think he sat down with stacks of possible back cover photos and sifted through them till he saw that one and said This is the one.
It's dramatic, coat and hat look great and sun starburst is cool.

Less than a minute of non angst filled introspection. Just "It's cool" I'm not an over analyzer, sometimes a photo is just a photo and generally reflects the photographer's mind set, not the subjects. JMO okay?

P.S. I don't like the coat, pointy shoulders and skin tight looong sleeves are not fashionable, just weird. But I love the fella wearing the coat, he just has eclectic fashion taste.
His choice. I wear some pretty out there stuff myself when the occasion is right and get an occasional WTF from my friends.

Of couse he would have gone through stacks and stacks of photos and precisely, why did he pick one with his face covered? Okay I accept that you think that it just appealed to him and nothing more, that's fine. I accept your opinion. But an anon suggested, "It ain't that deep, folks." As if indirectly saying that it is silly for some of us to hypothesise so much. Isn't the anon imposing her view on some of us who think there may be a deeper underlying meaning to the picture? So I was merely replying to her contradiction, not trying to impose my views. So there is no necessity to ask me if your opinion is okay.

@ Lam-my As someone else said we are notorious for talking everything to death on this site. 192 comments about the back of an album! Really !

I don't remember what time Anon.
(It's really not that deep) posted.
And I'm not going to look it up. But did you notice she made her statement once and then let it go?
That's my kind of girl or guy. Probably a guy, they are less
verbal. A tempest in a teapot, I agree, it's not that deep.

Deep or not is not the real issue here and talking a subject to death is also not what I view it as. We, most of us here actually enjoy this kind of opiniated chats which might appear unnecessary to others. I'd say it's quite similar to talking on Twitter, same subject that can last all day. If someone enjoys doing something be it anything, okay, just for example, some people love painting or playing the piano hours on end; they would never consider it as doing it to death. So the same for me about talking to some really nice people here; doesn't have to be deep and certainly, not talking it to death. By the way, that's why I have not taken into account nor mention the number of comments...so be it even if it reaches even 300! It doesn't matter if it's just about an Adam CD cover; the topic is not that important. We just enjoy talking about Adam; simple as that.

Maybe Adam was simply thanking the Universe...a prayer. He did mention something like thanking the Universe for putting him on his remarkable journey of life, in his summary, in the Trespassing box-set. :)

It can also stand for a closure of a milestone in his life. :)
