Adam Lambert's Twitter Fame: More Real Than Fake

Does Adam Lambert have "good" Twitter followers, or are they fake? This week the quality of Twitter followers has been a hot topic for celebrities with a large number of followers. One recent report compared some top celebrities on Twitter to see just who really has useful followers, and Adam came out looking better than many artists.

A British company called "Status People" has developed a tool to measure fake Twitter followers—that is, those that are set up to follow people or send out spam. Another type of account is one classified as "inactive," which has had no activity for a while. They could be real people, but Status People describes them as consumers of information but not sharers. Everything other than fake and inactive accounts fall into the "good" account group.

According to the tool, Adam Lambert has a low percent of fake followers (13%) and 43% "inactives." With more than 1.6 million followers, that means Adam has a large number of real fans following him on Twitter. Because 44% of his followers are considered "good," that means that more than 700,000 people have the potential interest to share his news, take part in "Twitter trending," vote in polls, etc. Obviously, for a celebrity it is important to have a large percent of "good" followers. These are the people that will re-tweet important news and generate buzz about the person. It seems that Adam Lambert is doing well in this respect.

Adam knows that social networking is a key to building and maintaining a large fan base. In fact, he even participated as a panelist at The Recording Academy's "Grammy Social Media Rock Stars Summit" in 2011 to talk about his use of Twitter. Adam uses the tool to deliver information about new songs and products to his fans, as well as read fan comments, including opinions and reviews about his music. He also turns to Twitter to correct rumors about him started by the media.

However, even your reviews and articles can't get any numbers for album's sales, single charts and twitter follows. Why didn't you tell us about JB, GaGa or Perry ratio in this tool measuring campaign? I know you love Adam, but 700,000 fans who could afford to buy 77,000 albums in first week can't be real fans at all.I'm sure JB or GaGa have 14,000,000 real fans as min. The American Idol judging panel normally consists of 3 judges but there have been seasons with there have been 4 judges.

Nigel Lythgoe Is Returning to American Idol
“Nigel Lythgoe is returning to American Idol as Executive Producer, reports E News.

"Not surprised E broke the news, as Nigel’s show “Opening Act” airs on the cable channel.

“After months of negotiations, Nigel Lythgoe will return as executive producer of American Idol next season, E! News exclusively confirms.

Due to the prolonged negotiation, a show source tells E! News that production is “way behind normal schedule,” and that the first thing on Nigel’s to-do list is to “lock in judges.”

Oh to be a fly on the wall during the negotiations. What could have been the hold up? And somehow, I think, FOX and Freemantle have probably locked in the judges on their own. E reports that an official announcement will be made soon.

With all the changes happening at Idol, they really need Nigel to stick around and make sure Idol is STILL IDOL when TPTB are done tinkering with it. I’m glad Nigel will be back.

ADAM didn't cancel an interview but has taped the interview before leaving Australia. We just speculated that news because of Byron's tweet and the TMZ news that "someone is coming back to Idol on Tuesday."
It's all mere speculations by fans because of the timing.
I guess ADAM only wants to come back early to rest with that sudden schedule to sing at the Matinee.

The original article that Renee got her info from did mention other artists, but she didn't write about them as its and Adam article.
I'm sure his 'real' fans are higher , I follow Adam on twitter, but I never use my account, only got it to vote on the video thing. I'm sure there are many other fans that have twitter but don't use it too.

His devoted ‘Glamberts’ are desperate to see pop superstar ADAM LAMBERT sitting next to Mariah Carey on the ‘American Idol’ judging panel next season – but is there any truth to the rumours?

“I’m still waiting to hear myself! I think I’m being considered, that’s all I know,” ADAM told MTV Australia when he hit town for a whirlwind promotional tour last week.

“I would love to be on the show, I think it would be really fun. And if it doesn’t work out then maybe something will in the future.”

The ‘Never Close Our Eyes’ singer came second in the eighth series of the hugely popular show back in 2009, and as an ‘Idol’ veteran Lambert says he’d be keen to pass on the lessons he learnt to those competing this time around.

Since leaving the show ADAM has forged an extremely successful international music career for himself, with two massive albums to his name and stack of hit singles to match. His latest album ‘Trespassing’ recently debuted at number one on the US Billboard chart.

I remember seeing a retweet by Nigel of a Queen fan that had just heard Adam at a Queenbert concert in London and was shocked to learn "and this is the guy who lost American Idol??? Then who the h **ll won!". Well anyway the tweet went something like that....I don't know how've to retrieve tweets from a long Time ago but I took it to mean that Nigel was supporting Adam's amazing talent too by retweeting the comment. I sure hope he's an Adam supporter!

Now it's been said over and over that AI is revamping their show. They could have 4 judges no problem. As for Nigel, I don't like him. I am worried with the Glambert attack on his twitter account that we may have left a bad taste in his mouth as being a ruthless bunch that he won't want to deal with.

As far as Adam sitting between MC and NM that might not actually be a bad scenario. Anyone who watches will see that the real intelligence and charisma, wit and looks etc etc etc comes from none other than Mr Adam Mitchell Lambert.

oops - about time.

Oops. So all you Glamberts are probably wondering why it's taken so long for us to publish a review for trespassing. Well let me tell you it's not because we don't adore them album to bits. We do. So much so it's on repeat on the iPod, on constant rotation at the POPrepublic.tv offices. We have been enjoying every digitally encoded bit, that it completely fell off the to do list. LOL

Having said that, the lack of a push in Australia for this album is criminal. I hope that Adam's label is not solely resting on his fan base for sales as this album deserves a wider market push for sure.

On Trespassing, Adam cements his own sound style. Delivering an incredibly solid and well produced album that normally, after such a previous smash hit record, would mean a new album would sound rushed and 'samey'. But not Adam. It's a diverse sensual and uplifting lyrical triumph that has heart and real soul.

Tie that into the mans indisputable vocal chops and you have a pop/rock album that fulfills the real meaning of the overused term "journey".

Underneath is a 'Standout' - if you had to pick.

Enough of my babble. I am off to listen to it again. For you non Glamberts - go and grab the album and have a listen, you will love it.

slightly off topic..but have you noticed how good Adam's complexion is looking..he has expressed concern about it in the past and now I feel that he has had some work done to improve it...he looks positively glowing...more beautiful than ever!!!

This is a wonderfully sunny and optimistic thread to wake up to!!!! I am glad to hear that Nigel is back. I don't think he's been lining up the judges, just that he will push the show/network to sign and solidify.

Here's betting that the announcment comes on Sept 10th, the first weekday after all those pesky politicos have officially picked their presidential candidates. Fingers crossed for our boy.

And I do believe those Twitter figures. Active followers are extremely valuable and it explains why Adam does so well on Twitter even though his follower numbers are much lower than some celebrities".

I love it that Adam's mom was unhappy about his twitter comments and because of it, he deleted them. He is very close to his mom so I guess her approval and feelings still matter very much to him. As far as IDOL, the way he worded his comments, it almost appears that his name has been thrown into the mix, but perhaps he never actually had a conversation with anyone about the judge position on the panel. Just because we, as his fans, want him to be a judge doesn't mean that it is going to happen. I am still waiting for the announcement of his next single and then the video. Hopefully Adam will also make the rounds of the talk shows now that their summer hiatus is over so he can continue to promote Trespassing. It is such a great album, but nothing much seems to be happening with it now.

I am thinking his Mom has seen and heard a lot more from Adam then just these few twitters..She doesn't strike me as the type of Mom that would be offended easily, or would care about him having some fun! I am guessing anyway. He probably doesn't want to deal with childish Glamberts, and I don't blame him.
The next one he has he should put a disclaimer on it.."If you are easily offended please do not follow"! lol

I think that Leila is not easily "shocked" nor does she seem prudish, BUT, I wouldn't be surprised if she did see Adam's twitter party and decided to tell him it might be a good idea to take the tweets down, "for his own good." She and Adam are very close, and I'll bet she puts in her two cents now and then. That twitter party had its impact, but it was time to take it down before the "impact" became more negative.

Renee Snyder's article was interesting, and it explains why Adam has a large number of twitter followers but much lower sales. We continually say, "if only each of Adam's twitter followers would buy just ONE CD!" Well, it looks like some of those "followers" aren't really active fans. Now we know. Same is true of Bieber, Gaga, etc. but their percentage of real followers is much higher, too. Also, fans without Twitter do follow Adam on Facebook, on fansites, etc. So Twitter isn't the only measure.

Nigel L. seems to respect Adam's talent. His comment at the Queen concert showed that. I wish he had some say in the judge thing. Adam might have a better chance. Maybe the show will change its format and have four judges again. I don't care, as long as Adam gets a spot.

I'd like to know who in this fandom were offended by Adam's pillow tweets and why. Adam obviously joked that his mom told him to remove the tweets. Outside the fandom the tweets had no impact.

I was just flipping thru the TV and saw Randy Jackson on the View. He said he was going to be on AI this season! I don't know when the show was taped but it showed 2012 on my info for it.

So if that was a recent taping, well, I guess he is coming back..darn it anyway!

To the person who said Adam probably had not been approached about Idol, that is bull. He said he was being still considered as far as he knows. He also said he had talked to them and it was lively to talk to them! He would not have kept his work list this clear, if he did not feel that was a chance of it. I don't know why some of you don't believe that Adam's mother would call him. She called after the kissing Brad photos came out during Idol, she called after the kissing and simulated oral sex on AMAs and his Dad suggested he apologize. They are his parents and disapprove of reckless behavior. Whether he's just having fun or not. He wasn't raised to be so foolish and they will probably always call him on it. They love him.
