Pop diva takes to Twitter to offer her own candidate for 'American Idol'

Wonder what Mariah Carey thinks of the reports that Nicki Minaj will be joining her on the "American Idol" judges panel next season? Look no further than her Twitter account.

As headlines suggested that Minaj's "Idol" recruitment was a done deal, Carey, who signed on as a judge for the singing competition in July, offered her own candidate for the spot: Lenny Kravitz.

Carey took to Twitter on Monday to post a picture of herself and "Let Love Rule" singer Kravitz with the plea, "@AmericanIdol What's going on? need the info!! What about this combo? : ) if we could ever get him to do it!"

Carey joined the series following the departure of judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler. As TheWrap reported previously, Carey will rake in $17 million to judge the show -- the same amount that Lopez was seeking before parting ways with the show. The $17 million payday will make Carey the highest-paid judge on a singing competition, an insider told TheWrap.

So far, FOX, which airs "Idol," has remained mum on the reports of Minaj joining "Idol," and it remains to be seen if Lenny Kravitz is gonna go Carey's way. A spokeswoman for Kravitz has not yet responded to TheWrap's request for comment.

Earlier this month, Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers confirmed reports that he's in the running for a judge spot.

"The rumors are true," Jonas said via Twitter. "I am being considered to be a judge on 'American Idol,' and it would be a dream come true if it happens."

OT: Will.I.Am won the Do Something Award in the 'music' category. Searched for 2012 winners of DSA (held last weekend but not yet aired) and found a list of all the winners. Other major names did not win in their respective categories. Can only be 1 winner, right?

I noticed this during AI8 and many times after but haven't posted anything because I was sure I would be jumped on for calling Adam "imperfect." Well if he is, then so am I and many of my relatives. Here goes. Watch the above video again and pay close attention to his thumbs. In my family, we call them "curly thumbs." Many people have to purposely flex their thumbs into this position, but Adam and I share the same trait; our thumbs are already "flexed." Somewhere in his lineage there are other curly thumbs. I can "straighten" my thumbs, but to keep them that way takes a lot of effort.

I wonder how many of you noticed this but said nothing and how many didn't notice because your eyes were transfixed somewhere else.

Just saw a tweet that Nikki Minaj is resuming her tour 10/14. Maybe she won't be a judge???? Don't know if it's true or not.

You know what's really great right now? The media worldwide recognize Adam Lambert for what he truly is: A great singer, songwriter and live performer (almost no more mentions of AI anywhere except for the judging gig). We all said that 2012 would be Adam's year and it is so far with the critically and fan acclaimed TRESPASSING album, with his incredibly amazing 6 live shows with legendary band QUEEN, with his nomination for a DSA, with his upcoming Pretty Little Liars Halloween gig on TV, with all the superb magazine covers worldwide, with all the other live performances in the US and internatinally, etc., etc.

Adam's fans are truly proud of him and for reasons. Love him so much!

Looks to me like she won't be a judge if Mariah has anything to do with it!!

Her problem is not Mariah, but she is a sponsor for pepsi, and the show AI has sponsor for Koka Cola.

LOL ... yes I noticed the thumbs during Idol. He used to give the thumbs up gesture a lot. Tried to curve mine to see if they would do that...no way! They're kinda cute!
I've only noticed it once before...
I had a kindergarten pupil with curly thumbs, she had a hard time learning to hold a pencil...was that a problem for you? :)

Just heard from a media friend that the Napa event only holds a couple of hundred and that it is extremely hard to win, probabaly only 1 win per radio station, the rest through sponsors and may include airfare and hotel.

I don't know if they are severely limiting seating but according to the Uptown Theater website, the venue holds 864 people..so hmmmm. Interesting.... I wonder why they would limit it to 200 people : )))) Maybe we'll hear more as time goes on...There are 3 more days of events besides the Saturday..It seems they would want to fill the theater each day...Mystery.....

It must be so tedious having to say the same things over and over in all these interviews. Adam does work hard. After the 50th or 60th interview I would run screaming into the street! How can he always appear so pleasant?
It's worthwhile if they play his records, which fortunately other countries do, bless you Japan and Australia. I'm a crabby person and if they wanted me to sing on the US interviews at radio stations, Iwould say "No singing unless you swear you will play my music, let me speak to your station manager!" It's a good thing my paycheck doesn't depend on my being pleasant, they just need me for my brain!

I didn't have any trouble holding pencils because I was taught at an early age by experts, the other curly thumbed people in my family. Seems Adam doesn't have that problem either

Surprised that no one is commenting on Adam's interview here. Even tho it's frustrating to listen to all the translation of his comments, I still found what Adam said to be fun and fresh. His enthusiasm is so endearing. And he sure loves his band! Lately, he's always mentioning his love for them. Maybe it's because he's read negative comments (like on this site) about them. I say, if Adam loves them, then so should we! LL

hmmmm, if Adam is going to be an AI judge isn't November an important month not to have any gigs in? Don't they travel around and have Hollywood week in November?

The Napa thing is on a Saturday night so Adam could break away for the hour flight to the Bay Area to promote Trespassing.

The "Live In The Vineyard" gig is on a Saturday, and San Fran/Napa is a quick flight to and from LA...Doubt it would conflict : )) He flew back from London just to do the San Fran show awhile back, and then flew back...seems he could do that from Hollywood too. Piece of cake!!

@Glitzylady, my source tells me that it is billed as "intimate". They said lots went to eat and drink and many didn't bother to watch the concert and many were quite intoxicated. They said it's very classy. They did tell me that it was 2/3 empty for sure. What a waste! You should definitely try to win since they are also giving airfare and a hotel stay. All of you should try for that matter if you want to come see Adam in Napa!!

I don't think American Idol knows what they are doing. There's an article out there today that Kanye West is in talks with AI and wants the same money as Mariah.

I agree, Am Idol doesn't know what it's doing. They seem panicky to keep their rumors flying to build interest in the new panel.

I'm sick of their rumors and they are pi**ing me off too, it's gone beyond anxious excited curiosity into I don't give a damn. Any announcement short of Adam Lambert will be anticlimactic.

Just the fact that they paid MC $17 million is nuts..American Idol and Survivor have been on for years and the contestants never get a raise . . . even when these shows were number one . . who deserves it more....the stars are already rich . . most anyway...

I don't think AI is putting those stories out there.

I noticed the same thing a long time ago and mentioned it to my daughter. I also noticed that Sauli's thumbs are also 'curly' (see Ellen's episode where he gives her the thumbs up). I remember reading somewhere that people who have 'curly thumbs' are usually very artistic ... so there you have it.
