According to Digitalspy, Adam Lambert is one of music's most underrated acts of 2012.

"Adam Lambert's latest album Trespassing fared much better overall compared to his 2009 debut, though truth be told, it deserved far more success than it achieved in the UK." - Digital Spy

Of course Adam is under rated! He is the greatest singer/performer of our time and neither the industry nor Adam knows what to do with his gigantic talent. They keep trying to find a niche for him but the closest anyone has come to showcasing his talent the way it deserves is the musicianship of QUEEN. (I wish they could write and arrange some QUEENBERT music with Adam.) I don't claim to have the answers but I've been around long enough to know that Adam is no ordinary "pop" cutie. In fact, most of the pop singers are in awe of Adam's voice and talent. I don't know whose idea it was to "put a touch" of MJ on Shady and Pop That Lock but Adam doesn't need MJ to ride to glory on because Adam is the next generation of music. I don't know whose idea it was to put those comical black and yellow puffs on the heads of Adam's (Black) back-ups while the other (White) musicians look cool and serious as a heart attack. This strange decision -- along with one of the dancers (not the fabulous Terrance) acting like he's trying to upstage the master entertainer (Adam). Who makes these distracting decisions that confuse Adam's image? And why, oh why, does his Trespassing "tour" not feature more of the second part of the album? Then, there's all this chatter about "Adam, the first gay this and that." I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that our guy (Adam) has accepted the mantle of helping our society get over its homophobia; he is the perfect personality to accomplish this miracle but he is a great singer and entertainer apart from his sexual preferences. But the two have gotten mixed up together. So, IMO, it's all this confusion around his image/style/genre/gender (whatever!) that is slowing up people's ability to recognize the fact that Adam is simply THE BEST. I end this rant by pointing out that giants like Beyonce, MJ, Aguillara, etc. etc. outgrew their groups and had to move on and find themselves. Then there are some groups that were equal talents and could grow together. Maybe it's decision time for Adam. Beverly

Watching the story of the singer Rodriguez profiled on 60 Minutes last Sunday had me thinking a little of what Adam is going through. It was incredible to learn how much he was revered in South Africa since the 60s and was unheard of in our country for over 40 years---and he came from Detroit!!!! The narrator said he sold more records than Elvis and the Beatles and now that he is 70 years old, he is the subject of a movie about his life. In this age of the internet, it's impossible for Adam to be be so under the radar of the music industry---yet so ridiculous {in my opinion } to be an artist of his caliber and have to continually struggle for recognition in the U.S.
May 2013 be the year we here in the U.S. wake up!!!

@Beverly, I hear you sister! I agree wholeheartedly with you.

Bloody hell, of course he IS!
The industry is crazy for sure but
they know Adam is a genius. Never thought I'd ever say this but as the guys on Adams team told me the other night, it's cause Adam's gay and no other reason....like it or not. Adam has guts and he keeps true to himself always. He's gay and proud and waiting for the US to catch up from the Dark Ages! Internationally Adam is soaring because the hype and fuss is off and Adam is adored for the genius talent he truly is.

Absolutely underrated.

Underrate, duh, do you think. Adam is a brilliant talent. Wake up U.S. I won't even get into the fringe benefits of that fabulous face or contagious personality, kind heart or that killer smile. His voice is like no other, very addicting. If your not listening you are definitely missing out.

I think a certain part of the population will never accept Adam because he is gay. There are many who are tolerant of alternative life styles when it suits them but are less so in reality. Also, Adam has not been able to capture the interest of the teens like the Biebs has...... maybe because he is older or just too sophisticated and his music does not connect with them. The most interesting part is that his audience abroad is much younger. Another thing I don't understand is why he is not bigger in the UK? Is it simply the lack of promotion or because the Brits don't embrace American pop stars since they have so many of their own. What ever the reasons that Adam is not a bigger success is a shame since his talent is undeniable.

@12:10AM If AMA didn't happen and Adam would get all recognitions he deserves. So, problem solved

Forgot to add.FYE would become a very big hit and get much more recognitions than WWFM! But they put FYE in the air!

We can make all the comments we want about the reasons Adam Lambert is so underrated and all of them are probably true to some extent. Who knows the reason(s)? He is just so unique in his vocal ablilities and stage presence, that finding a "niche" for him on the music scene is virtually impossible. At times his sexual orientation does cloud the importance of his vocal talent and until the part of society that is homophobic gets over it, Adam will continue to have a tough time getting radio play and acheiving the success he so deserves. But Adam will be exactly who he is and we as his loyal fans accept that image, style, and his sexual orientation. And I am so looking forward to a new album from him in 2013.

American Music Industry is just afraid of Adams capability. Adam is unpredictable and stubborn.........

Liked Simon said, Adam always make a point to challenge everyone around him and that's scary for them.......:)

Whatever the 2013 future hold for Adam, all of his true fans are there for him he!he!

If Adam won every award out there and sold more records than anyone else in the world... He would still be underrated... Because Adam isn't just a performer... Adam has done what so few have ever done... He's inspired a rebirth of music in so many ....not only that he's changed peoples lives....people like all of us.... He's created an army of followers that .... except people for who they are... he's enabled people all over the world to stand up for what the believe in.... and he's helped us make wonderful friends ... no matter where we live ... How old we are... or what we do for a living.... I'm pretty sure no matter what the future holds for Adam he will always be underrated....rose petal

Lady Gaga is not underrated and she holds these same kudos

Whenever I think of the magic that is Adam Lambert, I think of the old movie, Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Millions saw Adam on Idol, and made the psychic connection that was his genius. His followers (better know as Glamberts) had to know everything about him. We went on the internet and learned more about him than we know about our family members. We cared nothing that he was gay, flamboyant, in drag - who cares! He was our special find, the icon for the ages! Sure other people in the industry caught on but Adam was too talented, too close to the edge, and too threatening!haha! I believe that will change in time, but for now he's ours until the rest of the US catches up like the entire world has!...........nancdruuu2

I do no think the surface of Adsm talent had been scratch yet, there is so much there! He a huge talent, little be little it is being discovered. He will be here many years, in many forms. I not sure there is much of anything artful Adam could not accomplish he so much more than your average, pop star! Sooner Are later someone will even scratch surface of Hos, talent! Like said before Adam is getting bigger and bigger abroad especially Asia but certainly not just Asia, that will keep him Round many years! Adam talents go way further than concert stage, gay or not he will rise above it all in time, he certainly has in many countries, I did not give a rays Ss about music anymore until Adam, he woke so many up to it again.food things. Big things will eventually come to Adam. They already have started even in USA! He will only get bigger abroad, do to his concert prowess that so few have, especially fom AI! That is I did not care about music at all anymore until Adam he brought me and many more back to it! Sure lots mistakes! He will be victorious! I love Adam the way he is, and being gay is a part of that, so what! Due

@8:17
I'm a Lady GaGa fan and I agree that she has done a great deal to further the causes I mentioned above ...but for me I think it's different with Adam ... I have several gay family members and no matter what anyone says being openly gay isn't easy. ... so I feel it's easier for GaGa to be accepted by the masses... and from what I can tell her huge fan base is made up a less diverse group than us....maybe not but I would be interested to know how many 60 or 70 something people are driving around listening to GaGa....I'd also be interested in knowing how many glamberts bought and learned to use a computer just because of Adam.... I think he's changed so many things and broke down so many doors that .... So ...here I go again he will always be underrated.... rose petal

4:17, Sounds like you have an insider connection to Adam's team. So, they think it IS the gay thing, plain and simple? Maybe they're right. Adam is overtly gay, not just "gay behind the scenes." Does his team know why Frank Ocean, also openly gay, is highly successful? Do people hate him being gay, too, or is it just Adam? Adam's voice soars above all others in quality. The industry acknowledges this. His songs are high-quality, as good as any other big hits. Other big stars don't necessarily have the teen fanbase. Adam got his break on Idol in his late 20s, far beyond the Biebs' demographic. Adam is for grown-ups who appreciate incredible vocals and sophisticated lyrics, but who also appreciate his persona and his committment to the LGBT cause. That aspect of him is not going to go away. Once again, he's a marketing nightmare, oozing with talent. The American public seems to want comfortable safeness. And I include Gaga is that category. She's talented, of course, but she's so out-there that she's a cartoonish caricature, not a real person, at least to me. Adam is so incredibly honest in all ways. We always get the real deal. Some people just can't accept him for who he is and just enjoy the music.

The BIG QUESTION IS::: What will
Adam's promoters actually DO to change this problem? Hope can he be marketed in order to SELL? Successful singers at the top are not necessarily good-looking or even talented or charismatic. They DO have a song or two that become hits, and THEN comes the acceptance. A gay guy with a big hit is accepted regardless of other factors. JMO.

Three or four years really isn't a long time. It seems like a long time to us because of how much we know and love about Adam but there are stories of "overnight success" all the time. Then we find out that person has actually been working at it for years and years. Adam's star continues to rise. Not fast enough for us, but his time will come. Keep requesting and clicking on links or to vote.

Give me a break ladies! Everybody knew that Adam is gay. But he was scheduled for all big shows and events before AMA!

@9:14
My point doesn't have anything to do with Adam's commercial success...my point was there is no way to thank him for what he's done for most glamberts...I had a very good life before Adam ...but there were times when I felt I needed something more than the normal everyday things to look forward to... Adam gave me that and I think he did same for many others .....when the stupid tornado blew my world away Adam was there to take my mind off it....when I didnt think I could adjust to all the changes well he was there smiling back at me... singing to me ...saying in my mind....you can do this ...look at what I've done...and I did it... No way to say thanks... Im pretty sure I'm not the only one that feels this way.....rose petal

So now we are believing some trolls who claim to have inside knowledge? Pleeeeze!

The whole TP was f****d up from the moment they released NCOE two or three days before christmas! And sending the song to radio 4 weeks later! (Surprised that it managed to get to No. 17 on HAC radio)

Lets hope everyone learned their lesson and era 3 will get a proper roll-out. At least DMG seems to know what they are doing now.

The other night the guys on Adam's team told me it has very little to do with Adam being gay and their are going ahead with their marketing plan for Trespassing.

Anonymous said...

I know nothing about Adam's team or anything else. I just speculate and hope. What I DO know is what Adam said. He'll be working on NEW music and a NEW albu and it won't take as long as TP did. He has learned a lesson about the value of timing. This next time should be different, esp. if his promotion team has learned a lesson, too. Adam is a gold mine if his "people" can just find him that one song to break him through. It's not all about the gay. IMO.

Somebody here really gets to talk to Adam's team a lot. Hmmmm.

What does lady GaGa have to do with any of this? She is not gay or Bisexual. Ok Russian lady we really get it about the AMA your main obsession in life along with FM. Time to throw your broken record away.

The radio does not play Adam, the bottom line. Why is another line.

Adam is masterful and the best singer in the world.

I pray that in 2013 Adam achieves expanding his band and locking-in a high caliber of talent - bar none. Wish we could "clone" Brian May and Roger Taylor.

Not sure where things stand now in the "drummer" category. That seems to be changing alot lately. Adam's talent is soo vast he needs people around him that inspire him all the time.

SOOO sad that Monte chose the path he did which in Adam's words ended up "burning that bridge". Monte could really tap into Adam's creativity and they did have several magical "moments" on stage.

Adam will continue to push the envelope again and again. Hoping too that he will lock-in the best backup singers in the business. He deserves that.

The music industry is challenging enough without having to always "break-in" and get used to new band members.

I think Brian is a great musical director and musician. Tommy Joe is loyal and his skills are getting stronger all the time.

Ashley just ROCKS! Adam has gained soo much experience now all over the world. It is his time to pull off the baddest band in the world to match his immense talent!

So many comments here I totally agree with. This speculation is wearying isnt it? But a lot of you have bought up some very good points. It just hasnt all come yo gether yet has it?Maybe the next album they will sort their stuff out and get it right. I do think the point about not quite knowing what to do with Adam and his talent is a valid one. I feel maybe he is bigger than pop music.
But this is his first love at this point in his life. He will not give up easily on it either.
So excited though to see what the future brings.

anon 10:27 -- I agree with EVERY WORD you wrote. And there was another person too -- oh, Rose Petal...what lovely, lovely thoughts you have shared. It is true, we all owe Adam so much gratitude for his personal sacrifices and transformations that have led the way for others to change. I guess that's why so many of us are wanting the best for him and hoping that he makes and insists that his managers make the kinds of decisions that will bring us all (including him!) even greater happiness and transforming powers. Happy New Year to all. Beverly

@ rose petal...JAK here

I loved your comment about so many of us who bought and learned to use a computer because of Adam. So true!!! Every year my kids tried to convince me I wanted a computer.....they used the wrong arguments. "You can keep your bank and insurance records, etc."
Who cared I thought, I had a file cabinet and desk up to date with everything at my fingertips.

Then, after Season 8 of Idol was over...I was bereft (did I spell that right?)...heartbroken. There would be no more weekly Adam. I was complaining (whining) to my eldest daughter about never seeing him again , (like Scarlett when Rhett was leaving her.."where shall I go, what shall I do?") and she laughed and said "Mom, he's all over the computer!" I was stunned. Then she said "Do you want Ron to go out and buy you a laptop?" He went out that afternoon and brought me DELL-A!
And from that moment I don't believe I've missed a day of seeing his sweet face.

I may be a little bit batty, but it's been a glorious madness! :))
I don't want to recover!

rose petal, JAK and the rest of you, Adam changed my life, too. I was computer savvy before Season 8, but Adam got me involved in a world of new awareness, social issues of importance, along with the wonderful feeling of following a beautiful person on an incredible journey. I value every moment I spend learningn about Adam's life because it has enriched my own so much. I know this is an old thread now, but I had to add my thoughts.
