Very good, honest review. Interesting comments about Never Close Our Eyes.....just "standard lyrics"... She was not so impressed with that one on the album. But really loved Trespassing! She sounded quite knowledgeable .
She gave good review. I love NCOE but I agree with her. Song I repeat the most off album 2 for me is Pop that Lock but I have not normal taste I guess just love that song!
No wonder that Adam's NCOE video is the complete opposite of what people expected the lyrics would deliver. Quite sure that had Bruno done a vid of it, that vid would be completely different from Adam's one because these two artists, while great in their own right, have totally different visions when it comes to interpreting their song lyrics in videos.
The only mv I like from Trespassing is the lyric video of TP. I know Adam and the directors were making a statement===? ?===but both BTIKM and NCOE were songs about love and I am sure the first listeners conjured up their own mental videos. I know I did. When the mv's came out they blasted away those images. Not a good time to get artsy! They should have shown the angst of conflicted love in BTIKM and the wonderful ache of romantic love in NCOE.
Instead we got schizo personality in BTIKM and futuristic police state in NCOE. Big Mistake. IMO
I like both BTIKM and NCOE...in terms of song, lyric, video. It is clear to me in these two videos, he was trying to steer clear of the love element / portrayal, for obvious reasons. So left with more controlled options, he comes up with the video featuring...fight within oneself that many people, other than himself, go through for BTIKM; and the sci-fi approach of NCOE; both of which are relevant to present times. NCOE can be interpreted as ignoring what goes on around us as in close one's eye or failure to stand up for one's convictions. Yes, may not be so appealing but if he had portrayed them based on the love relationship angle, they might again end up like Fever and FYE song etc. due to their gay overtone. I totally disagree with the critic's review on NCOE, that it's the "weakest" song of the album and the lyric and song being "standard". Adam's vocals and singing make any song shine even if perceived as standard. Many critics also said WWFM was "standard" and the melody too simple; but what happened after he sang it on AI, the green laser performance. I think we should take into great consideration when critiquing Adam's songs, his ability to weave all the mentioned components into one cohesive, artistic whole using his kungfu / mastery comprising his brilliant vocals / technique / delivery, to mould his songs into aesthetic wholesomeness. I'd rather critique it from this encompassing viewpoint than as separate components regarding lyric, melody, tempo, beat, chorus, video etc. He has an intense way of weaving them into one artistic whole with depth, even if perceived "weak", "standard". That to me is the most critical factor. Critiquing Adam's songs demands deeper insight.
WWFM was about conflicted love and the video showed the anger, confusion, despair and longing and no hint of gayness....just fear of loss of love. You don't have to show a guy and girl making out to have a mv about love. Never Close Our Eyes was a love song, he could have been filmed singing to the camera, right into our eyes, I would have enjoyed that more than people reduced to robotic drones. Let everyone have their fantasy that he is singing right to them, male or female.

Very nice over all. My 'go to' song is Broken English but I haven't heard anyone reviewing it. Fact is, I love all of both of Adam's albums. ♥
The woman has good taste!
Finally, a real music critic!
Love her voice and accent, good reviews for Adam Lambert, she knows her material. Does she by chance work for a radio station, or on her own.

It's better than have Adam as having a lover not seen again . . . it's hard to be gay pop singer.

Agree with everything as with NCOE as the one I skip as I didn't like it at all.
