Adam Lambert posted a new picture on his Instagram page. The picture is in reference to the The Supreme Court's argument to the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) this morning. (and yesterday's PROP 8 argument). (If you are interested in knowing more about the gay marriage arguments, visit Towleroad.com for complete coverage of the latest news!)

I don't like anything I heard from the Supreme Court yesterday. They are living under a rock and want to stay that way, IMHO.
Supreme Court is going to pass the buck sending Prop 8 back to square one. What can one expect from selected not elected officials. They have nothing to lose!!!!

From the New York Times:
A majority of the justices on Wednesday questioned the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act of 1996, as the Supreme Court took up the volatile issue of same-sex marriage for a second day. Justice Anthony M. Kennedy, widely considered the swing vote on the divided court, joined the four liberals in posing skeptical questions to a lawyer defending the law, which defines marriage as the union of a man and a woman for the purposes of more than 1,000 federal laws and programs.
“The question is whether or not the federal government under a federalism system has the authority to regulate marriage,” Justice Kennedy said during oral arguments, suggesting that the question should be left to the states. He disagreed with the contention that the federal law simply created a single definition for federal purposes, noting that same-sex couples are not treated the same as other married couples. “It’s not really uniformity,” he said.
“Love overcomes hate. Love has no color. Love has no orientation. All is love.” ~ Adam Lambert
If the court doesn't rule on Prop 8 then lower court rulings will stand and gay marriage will again be legal in California. So that is a positive outcome, even if it is not as progressive as many (including me) would have liked. And if DOMA is repealed then that is a huge step forward.
the South will NEVER legalize gay marriage. so they will have to go marry in secret
LOVE AND SEX ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. IF SEX IS THE DOMINANT FACTOR IN ANY RELATIONSHIP, IT WON'T WORK. GAY, STRAIGHT, BI OR WHATEVER. LOVE IS A TRICKY ONE ISN'T IT??

They may have to go to other states to get married, but not in secret. And if DOMA passes then they have equal federal rights. I think ultimately it will be legal everywhere, but that may take more time.
I have a feeling the Supreme Court will rule in favor of the status quo and throw it back to the states. And, as some have said, this could be a good thing, even with some states not passing same-sex marriage laws. IA federal mandate to allow gay marriage might really cause an ongoing, unresolvable rift, much like the abortion issue. It's a real cultural change that has to take place, and that can take a long time.
Gay people want to get married for the same reasons straight people do, some reasons good, some not so good:
Love (but not always)
Children (but not always)
Sex
Committment and stability
Common interests and goals
Companionship, loneliness
Unexpected pregnancy
Family or other emotional pressure
Helping someone enter the country legally, and similar legal reasons
Immaturity and unrealistic expectations (common to all people)
You name it. Gay people want to get married for the same reasons straight people do. Human beings are human beings, regardless.

Meant "if there is a federal mandate..."

Love the big EQUAL sign.
The South will stand up against it. it will say "hell no"! The blood runs deep.
Oh, it's coming....the court just has to decide whether to drag it out .......
Or just make a bold move and get it done.
Florida has 22 cities/and or counties which have domestic partnership registries which give some of the rights to same sex couples, but not nearly enough. It has to be done by the federal government to be truly equal.
I don't know how the fed govt got involved in the first place, the Constitution already gives citizens equal rights....however tell that to the decendants of slaves or the
Women who had to fight for equal rights...I have very little faith in the present conservative
Supreme Court Justices, but I am hoping they will remove their blinders and do the right thing.....the JUST thing............JAK
alot of gays want their say in financial matters. If a partner was to die, the widow would get the house, car, dog etc... A piece of the financial pie.
I'm so hoping we make some progress on this issue... ad I've said before can't believe we live in one of the greatest counties on earth ... yet all are citizens still don't have equal rights....my husband was getting so upset last night when they were talking about how the people of each state should choose ... He said well that won't work .... 10% of the population is gay.... and about 60% are assholes ... that doesn't leave much to hope for the 10%.... I'm not letting watch the news tonight ... had to give him an extra pill last night....peace love and light ... rose petal
hope the supreme court consider it-equal opportunity-marriage is for all human being gay or not.
OBAMA THEN WAS AGAINST GAY MARRIAGE THEN HES SNEAKY HE CHANGE HIS MIND HES FOR GAY MARRIAGE AFTER THAT HE WON SECOND TERM-SAW HIS VIDEO IS AGAINST IT -HES FOR IT. A WISE MAN; EVEN HES THE WORST PRESAIDENT TODAY AND NOT GOOD PRES. FOR ECONOMY-HE MANAGE TO TRCK AMERICN PEOPLE.OBAMA CAR NO GOOD. HES ANTI SMALL BUS. ANTI BIG BUS.AS A MIDDLE CLASS I PAY MORE TAXES-2000 DOLLARS MORE YEARLY-WHAT A GREEDY OBAMA GUY.
Equal Rights for All - What America should be about!..nancdruuu2
if people voted Obama in for gay rights, that is stupid. People should worry about the crippling economy, violence and school dropouts instead of who is sleeping with who. America needs a new agenda or it is going under really fast.
@ 1:14 PM I agree with you but they did and unfortunately that ship has sailed.

12:51 - figured you'd come up out of the swamp to hate on Pres. Obama even tho he has nothing to do with the supreme court decision. Any excuse to put him down, you fucking illiterate moronic asshole.
The presidential election is over and finished!! Look forward and support the causes close to your heart!Quit whining and try to make the best with what you`ve got!! That is the first step to make a difference.
@ 2:03 PM
You're such a gracious winner, you have won me over with your sweet talk.
not everyone likes OBAMA. that is reality. OBAMA should worry about what is really important. He should clean up the educational system and the economy. Alot of children are not getting educated, because they treat school like a social forum instead of a place for academics. There's alot of cleaning up that needs done.
Though we won't have an official decision for a couple of months it is expected that Prop 8 will be overturned by a lower court's ruling and that DOMA will the struck down. Justice Kennedy is assumed to be the swing vote and he has supported LGBT rights in the past. The tide of public opinion has changed and the Justices may not want to be on the wrong side of history and equality.
Some people are more equal than others. Bring out the money and see what happens. As the saying goes, Money talks and BS walks.
Tea, you missed comments from the three most liberal judges then. Also, the Justices sometimes ask seemingly anti questions to prove their point. It's inevitable that marriage equality will be achieved.
@ rose petal......is it okay with you if I admit that I love your husband just a little bit? ..... JAK
One of our main problems with marriage in this country is that it has gotten mixed up with religion. It's a legal contract between two people and sanctioned by the government not by a religious affiliation unless you choose to have a religious ceremony. What makes that marriage legal is the license not the prayers or setting.
I chose a little chapel built on an Indian mound a block from my house. The chapel was a hundred years old and in an orange grove fully in bloom and the sun streamed thru stained glass windows as we were married by a minister.....but my parents who were married at a courthouse by a
judge were just as married as we were ..... JAK

I agree that religion has become entwined with politics and now more than ever substantiates the need to heed "separation of church and state." Religion has no place in government and should be a personal matter because of the diversity and right to freedom and equality in this country. Churches should have the right to refuse to marry gays if it conflicts with their faith, but they do not have the right to deprive those that have other beliefs the right to marry and have every legal opportunity that straight people have. I was raised a Protestant, but I never heard the judgemental, devisive, political agendas that is preached today. Love of our fellow man was what I remember. I just am sickened by the prejudice, bullying and ignorance. It reminds me of the 1960s and civil rights up hill battles that showed prejudice at it's worst. I thought at the time that the south was like a different country of cruel, crazy people. I now live in the south and it's much more diverse, but there are some that are stuck in a restrictive time warp. Those are the ones that give religion a bad name and it's unfortunate. This country was based on freedom, but I feel like we're going backwards with some of the idiotic remarks of some of the GOP senators and congressmen, particularly about rape and blaming women, also blaming Obama for things for which he has no control.I'm just tired of the disrespect and cruel remarks. Hope I didn't offend anyone. It really is not my intent. Just frustrated that in this day and age we are still so unaccepting of anyone that doesn't fit the WASP mold and religious constraints of some sects.
Amen sister.,......JAK
