Actually, this isn't funny to spell Ishtar instead of Easter.
Also, Adam have to read the legend about Ishtar. He wanted to fly and Gods burned his wings.

Anonymous said...

That tweet is very disrespectful to his Christian fans.

Anonymous said...

Calm down folks! Adam would not be disrespectful. Happy Easter to all!
Peace and Light!...nancdruuu2

Anonymous said...

I sure he didn't mean it that way.

Adam wants to be controversial and probably knows he´ll stir the pot with this comment. He wants to raise a conversation and my oh my...he´s good at that:) Let´s be civilized and have an interesting discussion:) IMO he didn´t mean to be disrespecful! Maybe making a statement about freedom of religion/faith:)

Happy Easter to you Adam and all 24/7 people.

Happy Easter, it doesn't seem like Easter here in Fargo, North Dakota. We have lots of snow on the ground. And we are expecting a major flood this spring. So far we are having a slow melt. We always fight the Red River, and the people here are working hard to get one million sand bags ready before it hits us. We made national news more then once.

freedom of religion and faith. Thats what I think also. He wants a discusssion, thast all. No bad no harm.

Anonymous said...

Happy Easter to you Adam, you are such a geek. lol

Happy Easter to everyone! Spring is way late in Finland too...some heavy flooding to be expected in some parts of our country because of major piles of snow we have!

But we have sun and light so all is good:)

Anonymous said...

And hey...in Adam´s newest tweet he wished everybody Happy Easter too;)

Anonymous said...

I'm sure he meant no harm. I'm going to go eat my chocolate bunny now.

I just booked my room for the Pittsburgh Pride festival in June at the Hampton Inn on Small Man St. I hope it is close to the activities and Adam's concert. Now to get tickets for his show next and the festival.Stress Stress Stress. Coming from Ohio.

Anonymous said...

I think the first commenter is getting their myths mixed up. Ishtar is a goddess of love and war. Icarus wore wings of wax and feathers that melted when he flew too close to the sun.

Some people think Ishtar is one of the pagan Spring celebrations.

Anonymous said...

Adam also tweeted Happy Easter so all is good now.

Happy for you:) I`m still flying high because of the WAG concert in Helsinki. What a show!!!

Anonymous said...

I don't think Adam meant anything disrespectful at all. I don't thnk he meant to stir up controversy, either. Just playing with words, IMO. Sometimes it helps to have a little thicker skin where humor is involved. I'm sure Adam has friends of all faiths. I say let it go and enjoy the coming of spring!!

Thanks, DRG, for your thoughtful comment. Happy Spring to all!

OMG way to make a mountain out of a molehill. Lets not take ourselves too seriously. Easter has become as commercial as Christmas.

All is forgiven in Adamland. How about in Adamfandomland? Can you practice what you preach for his outspoken (adoring but not always agreeing) fans?
Just dropped by to say
Happy Easter to all who celebrate it & a wonderful Sunday to those who don't;)

Anonymous said...

Don't start with the ignorance!!:)

If u really a fan of Adam you know that he is not disrespectful!!

So just shove it whoever you are.....????

Mostly of his fans are Christians and we love him as being dork!!:)

I could say majority how a bout that!!!:)

Happy Ishtar or Easter to all the fans that has brains he!he!

Adam is one interesting, sweet, intriguing man..and always interested in the myths and legends: the mystic. This explains his reference to the (tenuous) and romantic "Ishtar connection" to Easter, and more specifically the possible (but strictly speaking also perhaps unlikely) connection of Ishtar, Easter, and Easter Eggs. So please don't be insulted or upset with Adam's "Happy Ishtar" tweet. I learn so much from Adam. He never ceases to amaze and intrique me. By the way, this article below is from Scientific American....no "fly by night" mystic publication, and it gives some insight into the Ishtar "meme". I'll post the link, and a few selected quotes.. If interested, check it out. VERY interesting and enlightening.

From Scientific American:

"Ishtar was the goddess of love and war and sex, as well as protection, fate, childbirth, marriage, and storms—there’s some fertility in there, but as with Aphrodite, there is also an element of power."...

"The word Easter does not appear to be derived from Ishtar, but from the German Eostre, the goddess of the dawn—a bringer of light. English and German are in the minority of languages that use a form of the word Easter to mark the holiday"....

"Our helpful meme, places the egg in Ishtar’s domain, but Ishtar doesn’t seem to be connected to eggs in any explicit way. However, there are plenty of other older traditions that involve the egg as a symbol of rebirth and feature it prominently in creation mythologies...."

So agree Canadian. Some people are so precious at times, get over it.
There have been several explanations for Adams tweet. He is interested in all this stuff surely by now you realize this and not be silly, he would never put anyones beliefs down, it goes against everything he is.

Anonymous said...

I don't understand. Did I missed something? Why are some fans upset about Adam's tweet? How is it disrespectful? Somebody please explain because I'm confused.

Anonymous said...

3:11, I'm not totally sure why some might be upset. Maybe because Ishtar hints at the pagan celebrations behind many Christian celebrations? Ishtar is pronounced as easter so I saw it more as a play on words than a comment on Christianity. But I'm very accepting of other people's beliefs. Just had an interesting talk yesterday with someone who is Hindu.

Anonymous said...

I think some Christians felt he was mocking easter. He prob was trying to be amusing but not in an offensive way.

Anonymous said...

OT - I wonder why Adam and Sauli haven't been seen together lately. I'm not trying to start anything so please don't go off the deep end. I was just wondering. Isn't Sauli in LA? Are they still together?

glitzylady said...

Ishtar, in current popular mythology, is associated with Easter Eggs...see and read the article I posted at 1:39 PM.

In the words of Adam, It "ain't" that deep....

Anonymous said...

@3:20 PM, Thank you for answering my questions! After reading your explanation, the tweet seems harmless to me. I'm a Christian and I'm not offended nor upset by his tweet.

Anonymous said...

Thas how I pronounce it espcially after a really happy one.
hiccup, oops shawrry

Anonymous said...

Gee, I wonder if the Bieber fansites ever get into these kinds of discussions? LOL.

3:32, Sauli is working on his TV show. Adam is likely getting ready to set up some recording time, and he'll be performing in Miami on the 14th and in China on the 18th. I don't think we're going to see them together alot in public, at least for a while. No worries.

DRG

Anonymous said...

Thanks glitzylady for some clarification on what Ishtar means! I didn't have a clue what Adam meant. When I read some of the replies (on Twitter) to his Tweet, they seemed to get it somehow but I didn't LOL! Obviously, I wasn't offended since I didn't know what he was referring to but one thing I know, Adam would never knowingly disrespect anyone's beliefs. He's all about tolerance and acceptance and love. He loves to play with words, we all know that by now. He also wished Happy Easter with a wink on his Tweet. No harm done at all.

Hope everyone in Glamilyland is enjoying their Happy Easter Sunday. Turned out it didn't really rain, as predicted in L.A. (only very mild drizzle) so I bet no Easter Egg Hunts were cancelled and things went on normally as planned.

Being an Adam fan is certainly never boring!!!

For sure I'm enjoying the Polychromatic Adam Lambert

Anonymous said...

The best coverage of Easter done by CNN. I am watching it right now. You all must watch the whole thing.

Anonymous said...

Chill out people!

Anonymous said...

Happy Easter! Happy Spring! Let's not make a big deal out of a statement and turn it into some kind of controversy. That's one of the problems with our society today...everything has to be politically correct for fear of offending someone or some group. Hope everyone enjoyed today no matter where you were or what you did or did not celebrate. Personally I had a wonderful Easter dinner out with family and friends, then came home to relax and had a few pieces of chocolate to end up the day . Don't let anyone fool you tomorrow on
April 1st.

Anonymous said...

Didn't any of you study mythology in school? Don't leap to anti Christian conclusions until you know what you are talking about.

P.S. Adam was thoroughly polychromatic in all those neon bright suits at the end of Never Close Our Eyes video!

Anonymous said...

Well if you know so much, do tell.

Anonymous said...

Adam wished Happy Easter two hours after the first tweet. He must have gotten quite a backlash & figured he'd better do some damage control.

Anonymous said...

Adam might've posted 'Happy Ishtar' because it's pronunciation is the same or similar to 'Happy Easter'. I know, wild guess but he's a cheeky beast!!

Anonymous said...

@ 10:28 pm

Where shall I start? Norse mythology? Inca, Greek, Aztec, Celtic, Egyptian, Persian, Roman, you name it, I got it!

Anonymous said...

@11:02 pm. That was my first thought. Adam is very PUNNY! (That's P not F).

Anonymous said...

3:32 PM I dont`t think they are together anymore. Sauli is in LA and he is doing his filming job but there is so many other things that poits to that they are no longer together.. Both of them seems to be OK so it´s fine by me. there is no such thing as fairytale relationship people thought and some still think they have. Grow up people. It was beutiful while it last..

Adam would not be deliberately disrespectful to anyone, particularly towards any religion. He did follow with Happy Easter,so hope no one will be hurt or think he had any disrepectful intent. I think it was just a play on words without his filter turned on. Happy Easter everyone and also Happy Passover. The Bible series on the history channel was very well done and meaningful for many. :)

Anonymous said...

Easter is the english pronunciation of Ishtar an ancient pagan goddess. The bible makes no mention of Easter however it does refer to Passover. Many Christian ceremonies were derived from early pagan ones.

funbunn40 said...

Thanks Glitzylady for the Scientific American Ishtar meaning. Altho' Adam isn't religious, he is spiritual and believes in a Supreme Being. He just does not follow a structured religion like many, but does respect the beliefs of those that do and has an open mind, always curious and accepting of peoples personal choices.I cooked a leg of lamb for Easter which will make some very good gyro sandwiches from the leftovers. It rained early in the AM in Charlotte, but the afternoon was 70 degrees and the spring flowers are everywhere. My neighborhood has a canopy of white flowered Bradford Pear trees and lavender flowered Red Bud trees that aren't red. I love Spring!

Anonymous said...

I like Adam see myself as more of a spiritual person rather than belonging to any set religion, but I fully respect peoples right to believe in what ever religion they choose. Adam's words Ishtar and Easter got the better of my curiosity so I did some research of my own and found some very interesting info regarding ancient beliefs, the old testament and the new. It's always interesting to know where our modern day beliefs come from and how they came about. I've learn't a great deal from following Adam including some of our history.

Anonymous said...

Adams not disrepectful to anyone.
Get it together. People take comments, mis-understand and twist them into something absurd.

Anonymous said...

Christian fans should lightened up.
Adam covered everyone.

Anonymous said...

I think people need to get their facts right before making assumptions, do some research to find out about Ishtar and what it stands for, all you need to do is type it into google, it's much better to find out facts for yourself rather than simply going along with what others say, this way at least you know what the facts are rather than relying on second hand information, and no one is accusing Adam of doing or saying anything wrong, don't be so quick to jump to conclusions. I have a right to have my beliefs just as Adam and just as we all do.

On which planet do you live??

jt said...

And for you Adam, I hope you had a very Happy Pesach!!!

Anonymous said...

Yes, Happy Pesach Adam! (Jewish Passover.)

Anonymous said...

Adam didn't mean any harm. He obviously responded to blow back by wishing everyone a Happy Easter.
No biggie.

Anonymous said...

I don't think Adam meant any harm either, he loves mythology so I understand why he might say Happy Ishtar, Ishtar stemming from ancient mythology, this word also sounds very much like Easter and I think he was just having some fun with no harm intended, but later he may have realized that some may misunderstand his intentions so decided to wish everone a Happy Easter, at least this is how I see it, he seems like a genuine guy and not the type to deliberately offend people.

Anonymous said...

The fact is this ignorant person who leaves bad comments about Adam is a loner and wanted some attention...

Don't worry we always here to give your satisfaction dear!!:)

Right on!!! While it last!

Please stop the Sauli stuff, both of them will work out there private life the way it works for them, they both have projects right now.Adam has a bit to recover from that tour then back to china ect. And album making which I believe he already started a little recording abroad! It none of our damn business and I have no interest in getting into this Sauli thing again! Whatever is, is. It there life there business and not ours! Sue

Anonymous said...

Sue, almost everybody ignored the Sauli troll. Please do not respond to the trolls. Thank you.

Agreed! Almost succeeded...damn it!

Of course the bible mentions Passover , the Old Testament is a loose history of the Jewish people. Jesus was Jewish he celebrated all the Jewish holidays, went to synagogue , read the Torah and practiced his religion - Judaism!

If he returned today, he'd probably head for a rabbi and ask "who are these people called Baptists, Methodists, Mormons, Catholics, and what the heck is a scientologist?"

Anonymous said...

Dear 10.16 stop telling me what to do, thank you! Sue
