Well said, Adam! Glad your well-expressed thoughts were published! Bowie is truly a boundary-breaker, and Adam is walking in the same shoes. No wonder Adam admires him so much. I too wish the two of them could work together. I'd love for Bowie to know that Adam has true credibility and talent. I wonder is Brian and Roger know Bowie? It would be so cool if they gave Bowie a positive heads-up about Adam. I wonder if Bowie is at all aware of Adam's performances with Queen. Maybe not, but he should!

Bowie definatley broke the rules and made new ones. Nice job expressing that, Adam. We can see how much Bowie means to you.

Funny I saw bowie live way back when he was just starting out. He was huge in the 70's I believe it was. History always repeats itself they say. anyway, where does adam find the time to do all this stuff? I really hope Bowie responds to Adam's write-up whereas for years Adam has clearly made it known bowie is his idol. Personally, i did't think he was around anymore but it would be nice to acknowledge Adam and his on-going support of this artist imo. kids today, probably never even heard of bowie. I hope Bowie acknowledges Adam.

Adam performed with Queen and did an amazing job during those shows. If he and Bowie did a collabo, I am sure it would be a hit. Nice article from Adam. He is certainly intelligent and expressed his thoughts very well.

Adam needs only write the way he speaks and it will be well written.

I also like that I learned a bit more new info about Adam himself.

Great article but I have to say the thing I enjoyed most were the terrific comments. Adam's Glamily is growing and growing. It's just my opinion, but I think he is finally getting the respect he deserves as a musician...can't wait for the next album.

Bowie was a trend setter, a trail blazer, a unique concept artist, but as far as a vocalist, he was just okay. If Adam worked with him in a duet, Adam would out sing him completely. Sorry, but David Bowie was never and still isn't a great vocalist.

Please post positive comments about Adam on the San Diego fair site, maybe we can get him some new fans.

I'm so impressed with Adam's writing abilities. Yet another artistic talent of our RockGod.... he writes wonderful lyrics to songs I'm not surprised he writes beautifully too.
I'm sure he was asked by Out to write this article and I bet, IMO, the original article was longer but perhaps the editor had to shorten for space limitations.....we know how Adam loves to talk! His ideas are always spot on, clear and easy to understand. I hope this is the beginning of other projects of this kind. He's obviously so knowledgeable about all genres of music and loves to explore them.

I'd be eager to read any article Adam writes just to learn more about his opinions on things.

So excited to hear he'll be performing at SD County Fair! This may be a possibility for me !

Adam writes with storytelling flair and an historian's insight. From his personal vantage point as a child discovering and growing into Bowie's music, he provides an astute backstory of his search for identity, and gives us a glimpse of Bowie's place in his life and in music history. Adam writes like the true artist that he is, no different from his conversational speech, which is both insightful and captivating. Because he expresses himself in writing, speech, or song with a keen eye to enthralling his audience, Adam has to be an intelligent and engaging observer. Adam has the smarts, therefore, to be a chronicler of events; he does not know how to be boring. I've known him four years, and he has never ceased to amaze me with his generosity of spirit and his ability to connect, hallmarks of a good writer. Because his mom said he was a voracious reader, I am not surprised he has the vocabulary to express his throughts. I should now stop gushing. atm

JAK here....I was never a particular fan of Bowies, but he did have a sort of mystic aura and he was very innovative. When I read the book Interview with a Vampire I pictured Bowie as Lestat.
He has a vampire look about him.

Don't forget to take a trip down memory lane and watch the David Bowie Medley Adam did at the end of this article. I just fell in love all over again.

Would love to meet you! Met @Adamluv and PRS at Orange county last year.

I have tried to get ahold of both of them tonight, but to no avail. Are you buying your ticket tomorrow?

glitzylady said...

@Magiclady
Yes, hoping to buy a ticket tomorrow...Here we go again: Stress!

I suspect that at least @Adamluv will be there..

Magiclady said...

@glitzylady

I will be unable to go online tomorrow at 10:00. I am having a medical procedure. Do you think there will be good tickets available in the evening tomorrow? I wanted to buy the $139.00 ticket with the dinner or a floor seat.

Short but sweet article. Good for Adam for expanding into another medium.

It is an amusing turn of events to see Adam writing for Out.

Anonymous said...

@anonymous March 12 at 9:24... you are right.. I still remember how pissed the editor was because he felt that Adam was "not gay enough"... just because Adam's PR people (on Adam's request) did not want Adam to be interviewed about gay political issues...

@DRG ... Queen once did a duet with David Bowie on the sing "Under pressure" but things went wrong and therefore there was never a video shot with all these artists together...

Not sure whether they are on friendly terms again.

Anonymous said...

JAK here....Under Pressure was a mish mosh of a recording done spontaneously when Bowie stopped by Queen's recording studio in Switzerland. Bowie and Freddie wrote together and separately and each recorded their parts alone improvising. Strangely it turned out pretty good so it was released with a video made up of bits and pieces of old film of crowds, movie shots, demolitions, etc, if you want to hear and see that original....google....video queen & Bowie's under pressure..........it's the first one listed, dated aug. 10, 2007

Anonymous said...

JAK, thanks for the Bowie/Queen info. I can't believe you remembered that great tidbit of music history. We don't know if Bowie and Queen really do know each other or keep in touch, but I do dream that somehow their connection would benefit Adam in some way, esp. if he could at least MEET Bowie. I think if Bowie saw and heard Adam perform, he'd be impressed.

I lived the glam rock era as a kid and it wasn't about sexuality in the first place. It was the best dance music at that time before disco music. I was never a fan of Bowie, so maybe that's why I had no idea. I just went to school disco and danced till I dropped.

Anonymous said...

@DRG.....JAK again....Bowie has the rep of being stand-of fish but there's a clip of him from some time back on Ellen's show and he's delightful...if interested just ..google....David Bowie on Ellen de Generes Show.

Anonymous said...

I mean sometimes I think Adam has no clue and then he asks Eber about music.

Anonymous said...

Bowie didn't record an album for over 20 years and during that hiatus he lost what little vocal talent he had. If he and Adam were to collaborate on a duet, Bowie would have to sing the best he's ever sung in his life and Adam would have to whisper not to outshine him. Bowie's new album is selling well, but I think it's due to the "what's he sound like now" factor in his 80's fans hearts. He was innovative and very different, but his time has passed. I don't see a collab in the future even if Nile were involved in the process. JMO

I have always liked David Bowie. I like his music and like Adam, has his own sexy going on. I love Adam because he is so different, as Bowie is. I was growing up in the era Bowie emerged & liked him then and like him now. Haven't read the article yet but fully intend to after I post this. But when it comes down to the wire, Adam has definitely rocked my world. What a nice thing and how good it feels!
