Avicii revealed Adam's vocals were perfect for the track, saying: "I really fell in love with his voice. He just captured something on that first take."
Nile added: "I need someone to do a lead vocal so I call Adam Lambert."
The song has been made available to stream online in full, ahead of the album's release on September 17.

I thank the universe that Adam hooked up with Nile for Shady because look where it led. Adam and Nile doing a killer song on Avoicci's album. Lol of course it's not the official cover. Avicii doesn't even credit his vocalists on his cd. That's why he doesn't use big name singers. His songs are all about him.

Avicii has been quoted saying he doesn't go after big names. Adam is only a big name in the fantasy world that is this fan site,
Avicci album True is no. 1 on iTunes in 16 countries in less than 24 hrs. True will be avail. on 9/17 here in US.
The singles from True albums that are high on iTunes chart worldwide, ofcourse first is Wake Me Up and second is Lay Me Down.

that's right Avicii is brilliant enough to know the big names don't always have the talent. Everybody sure knows who Aloe Blacc is now. I think word is out it's Adam singing vocals on LMd too.

Whoa...Avicii's album is going viral and Glamhoppers making Lay Me Down no. 1 on iTunes overall. Obviously in countries that it's been released for now. Can't wait until Tuesday 12:00 AM ET/Monday 9:00 PM PT to make LMD go viral here in US iTunes overall.
where in the heck is Adam Lambert? I think he is working a lot on Glee. You have the acting and singing, choreo and studio recording.

So happy for Adam I just had a gut feeling this collaboration would be special. Adam has worked so hard the last few years and deserves all the accolades. .Maybe another Grammy Nomination.!!
JAK here....I have a kind of shivery feeling about Adam...
no, not THAT kind...a maybe fate is guiding him on his path kind of feeling.
He met Queen thru Idol and that was a wonderful happenstance because Brian and Roger recognized Adam's spirit and that led to good things.
Then a Tweet brought Nile and Adam together and again Nile recognized something special in our boy and that led to more good things. And now a young man none of us had heard of until possibly a couple years ago is at present a hot commodity and Nile brought Adam to Avicii. Slow but sure Adam is making connections with past, present and future artists. All good things.......
JAK, I share exactly the same thought about events in Adam's happenstance.
Adam's Master Plan is at work in the Universe. Something is happening here; resistance is futile. Glory days ahead.
According to iTunes, right now Lay Me Down is #2 on the Pop Song chart in Finland and #1 on the Dance Song chart in Finland. It's not appearing on any other iTunes chart at the moment.
