This is perhaps one of the latest Adam interviews. Hey Adam, you did floor-twerking and pretty genuine when I examined it more closely. lwl! I also have other words for your special floor demonstration... undulating, writhing, slithering, fluctuating, oscillating, heaving. All scintillating lol! Okay, that is not to overshadow your Starchild performance; your singing with song actions takes 1st prize A**! lwl! I've watched your video 12 times already, still on-going.
Just a few comments about Adam's Glee episode. First, that little gal, Demi Lovato, is absolutely precious-what a beautiful smile. She is just shining as she is playing the guitar while Adam is singing. I totally love her. Second, Adam is the BOMB! I have watched the video about 15 times-it is so top notch. What a talent he is! One question, what is that strange apparatus which Adam has around his neck with the Starchild outfit? Is it a pair of goggles? Margarita Lady
CT It's almost like a daily dose of a special brain vitamin. lol! Also an internal heart jogging exercise. His suit is very avant-garde despite what seems like older-fashion with coattails; he even dangles a kind of round silver, olden monocle or watch. His suit simply fits his handsome demeanour; especially at the point where he stands at the piano about to jump up, even that is done so gracefully. I also like the on-the-spot, vigorous, quick-step dance. That is a Gaga movement. I watch it many times because of these fine details but mostly for his singing. Naya/Santana's acting in this scene is very cute; like poking at Kurt to tell him to watch and shouting Bravo! lol! Kurt also acted very well, looking so stoic and very funny, leaning his head back like trying to avoid a swipe. lol! Demi/Dani looks effervescent. If there is a prize for a scene on Glee, then this one takes it. :)
Margarita Lady That strange apparatus as you call it, also attracted my attention and I called it 2 knobbly accessory in an earlier comment. lol! They look like small binoculars or yea perhaps goggles. lol! If they are binoculars, probably used in the olden days for bird-watching or horse races. lol!
As one embodying the philosophy of being true to oneself, Adam is polarizing, both by choice of his artistic vision and by his orientation. Whether by design or default, being polarizing can be rewarding, as has been for Adam, but it is also a risky proposition, requiring guts of steel to navigate. Fortunately for us, Adam is an irrepressible genius who scintillates and titillates on our computer screens. Otherwise, we'd be dull from getting more sleep and rest than we really need.
Lam-my, thanks! I wonder if Adam was allowed to come up with Starchild's outfit himself or if management chose the ensemble? I laughed so hard when I saw those goggles around his neck. The scene with MTN is a masterpiece and I cannot even imagine that Starchild will be retired on the show. Please, Glee, bring back the dose of medicine that will help cure your illness! Margarita Lady
Margarita Lady Yea agree, Starchild is such a fascinating character, should be kept on longer; but like you said it's going to be turned into a goodie-two-shoes. lol! I think Adam does have some say on the outfits but he looks nice in any outfit so he'd probably go along with most of them. Those people are experts, so is Adam. I feel Glee not only got the best singer but on the sideline they got the expertise of a fashionaire and a competent director. Basing on the Starchild scene, it seems so different from the other Glee scenes which do not show that kind of flair as seen in the Starchild scene. Like the suit itself, that is really classic fashion. I wonder how many times he practised flinging the hat; a very stylish, forceful fling; lol! Also the way he throws the mic at the end plop! so fierce. lol!
Wonderful interview with Adam. As usual, he is articulate, smart, honest and so charming. Adam seems to be happy at this point in his career adnd I hope that his performance on GLEE is just the beginning of many other opportunities that will come his way.
@ Margarita Lady He's wearing a pair of goggles round his neck, I think by a company called steam punk (or with that somewhere in their name), I did have a link, they actually tweeted out about him wearing their goggles a few days ago.
By the way where does your tag come from??? do you drink Margarita or do you come fro the Island of Margarita???
Adam is so real, no fake, what you see is what you get. Isn't he adorable. I would like to keep Adam in my little jar. And let him out, when I want to. How about you. Don't mean this bad in anyway. A mini Adam. All is good. Just a figure of speech.
Visited Adamtopia the other day and they have posted a tweet by the manufacturer of those "steam punk" goggles. They thanked Adam for wearing them on the show. They really make an interesting and funky neck ornament, very suited to Adam's avant-garde look. For those who are not familiar with steam punk, it is a popoular genre that applies to style and literature. It takes on the look of the 19th century industrial revolution. Lots of gears and copper colors and mechanical-looking things. Very Sherlock Holmes-y type of era. My friend just got a short story published that is in the steam punk genre. The story takes place on a large dirigible with propellers and gears and wires. Very cool!
As for Adam being polarizing, I agree with many comments here. It has its pros and cons. Adam tends to be a "love him or hate him" kind of performer. Not too many in the middle. Luckily, the "love him" group seems to be growing slowly but surely. Adam will never be mainstream in so many ways, professionally or personally, but even performers like him are able to gain large audiences. He definately knows how to use nuance and strategy to endear himself. (I think that short scene in the coffee shop with Kurt really opened some eyes for those who thought Adam was all just over-the-top schtick.) I think his natural likability shines through. It should pay off in time, even for those who have made up their minds that they don't like him. He's hard to resist.
Adam's performance style may not be for everybody, but if you listen to Adam speak, his intelligence and honesty will grab at your heartstrings. He has more charisma than any current artist out there! nancdruuu2
I also wondered about the steam punk goggles, which I would not be surprised if it wasn't Adam's idea. It's a signature touch of his, embellishing his brand with something unexpected, out of place, even jarring. I thought this artistic habit of his might signal a badge honoring his freak flag. More so, it serves as a visual tweak equivalent to the variations in the riffs and runs he infuses the same songs. It's what makes Adam unique, riveting, and always fresh. Lest any feature of his look or sound become predictable, or God forbid boring, the artistic tweaks not only change it up; they wake it up, pique our senses, and drive us nuts, like these freaking, WTF for? goggles.
@HK, 6:10AM, I was named Margarita Lady by Lam-my because I would post under ANON about my small get togethers with a group of friends at which I served big pitchers of margaritas, chips and dips, while we watched Adam videos, concerts and danced to his music. May I say the tag is perfect for me and my personality as I love to party and I am a proud GLAMBERT, plus love friggin' margaritas! I wish I could say I was from "ISLA de MARGARITA", but I was born in Paducah, Kentucky. There you have it-Lam-my tagged me! Margarita Lady
@ANON 9:10AM, Wow! Your post was so beautifully written and spot on to describe the uniqueness of Adam F***ing Lambert. I would never want him any other way-after all, he is from another planet!!!!
The googles around Adam's neck are a very popular accessory in a look called steam punk. Lots of people are in to dressing up in that style, a cross between the victorian era and technology, where things are powered by steam. Lots of watches and gears involved in the look. Probably part of the costumers idea to go with the glittered victorian top hat and tails and the whole OTT look of Starchild. The band was dressed steam punk for the Pretty Little Liars episode last year.
I couldn't put an era or name to Adam's Starchild antique-look do; but I knew it was olden by the top-hat and coattails and thought it was early 19th century as pointed out by DRG and Victorian as pointed out by 1:38. Thanks! It reminded me too, of My Fair Lady era when they attended grand horse races, so the binoculars came to mind. lol!
Hey Margarita Lady! I was actually very impressed by your forthrightness when you used my nickname as your pen-name. It happened because I wanted to thank you for coming to my rescue and so since you wrote only a few sentences then, I desperately grabbed at Margarita because you said you only need margarita and Adam to get you 'high'. lol! Kentucky people seem quite amicable; there is another person I used to chat with, her pen-name, Kentucky Fan, a psychologist who deals with troubled people at her clinic. She left me with a "12 inch" joke, which she reduced to 7" when I put a dampener on it. lol!

This interview was so charming...Adam being relaxed and honest and humble as usual...Not bad looking either....sigh.

HIS PERFORMANCE IS REMINISCENT OF HIS GLAM TOUR. DRESSED TO THE NINES AND KILLING IT ON STAGE. SOOOO!! GOOD.
