How long before Adam can break free from RCA/SONY. I am surprised they own his GLEE music.
He only sang the songs, didn't think he wrote them. I am aware they do own everything he ever wrote or sang while he was in contract with them, and does still own all of it. Thank goodness he will be touring with Queen, they cannot touch that, and hopefully we will get a DVD from that tour, as we did with GNT
They probably own his soul, including his underwear.

Glee music is released by columbia records which is a division of Sony, just like rca is a division of sony. This album is released by Sony.

I hope they won't raise the price more.

Don't worry, Adam is a fighter; and a talented one at that; nothing will get him down. This is just the nature of the beast. Adam and all entertainers go through the same thing. The bright side is that Adam will get more recognition and will gain new fans. People will want to want to hear more from him. He know how this business works. He will probably get money from the songs he worte. Adam is doing great! Not to worry. It's only going to get better!

I am already to move on and support his new work I think we have heard enough about this on here.

Will get a few again of this for gift giving.

They have been watching Adam; and are ready to make their move; "Marry the Night", really? Could this have something to do with the over 6 millon You tube views? Go Adam Go! "I want to Break Free", is such a beautiful, meaningful Queen song!

Just pre-ordered three copies. Will keep one for myself and gift the other two. I love "Tracks of my Tears".

Does Adam profit from this?

Since the previous (several...) posts about this subject are now on secondary pages, and we've discussed this at length the past few days...with the same valid questions being posed on each thread, this is what I got from Shosh's tweets a few days ago re this "Best Of" album: I posted it on the previous thread, but I'll post it here again. I suspect this will be an ongoing discussion ad infinitum tho :) Just my opinion of course...

My thoughts, for what they're worth..... :))

I really like the idea of buying this CD for friends and other potential Adam Lambert fans as a nice variety of Adam's songs, in a professionally packaged album. I sometimes will burn CD's from my (extensive) Adam Lambert music library on iTunes, for people who are interested in Adam, who perhaps remember him from his days on Idol, but who for whatever reason haven't followed his career in the years since then as **closely** as some us have... Really nice intro to his other albums, and his work on GLEE.. It also confirms that he has been around long enough to have this type of album (The Best Of..) out there.. Some people may not be quite ready for the full "Adam experience" (I introduce him gently and then.. spring things like Fever and Fantasy Springs 1 "Whole Lotta Love", etc.. on them: they're toast after that one!) right off the bat, but a great intro for him... (because he's just that addictive..and talented) and perhaps that will lead to future album sales of his "For Your Entertainment" and "Trespassing" albums from 2009 and 2012... Who knows, why not???

For those who are concerned about whether this is okay, whether it is ethical, whether Adam gets paid, whether we should buy if we so choose, I personally believe this: Adam's music is always worth listening to, and if RCA/Sony wishes to promote Adam this way, even if they are no longer his label, they have my blessing. Because any way to get his name and his music out there for people to see, is fine by me. I find music that way all the time...Perusing iTunes, Amazon, etc...

Shoshanna Stone (Adam's publicist) recently said that artists do not make their money so much on the proceeds from the music sales, (they get their up-front payment, and then not so much as a general rule, but they do get writing royalties, etc..) but from the other ways that they are involved in the music/entertainment business. [The music helps to promote the artist...]. The real money is made through touring, concerts, various promotions, endorsements, live appearances, TV shows, etc.. etc..

And she said "if you will enjoy it, buy it, if not, don't.." when asked about this CD release by Sony.. Makes sense to me..

Yes ,let's try to make this album a success so Sony will drop another one close to Adam's new music and while people will still be enjoying a The Very Best of Adam Lambert music. Total win-win.

Where did "If you believe" come into it. Was it on his first album, or before that? Was it on the cd "One"?

LOL

Adam is a good businessman. He may not make any $ on this, artists rarely do. Ddi you see the Doc "30 Seconds to Mars" just make about the record companies. However, since he supposedly parted RCA under good terms it is best not to burn bridges, you never know what will happen in the future. This CD should bring in new fans, even if it's just one at a time.

Adam sang "if you Believe" at the AI auditions.

Title of song is Believe - hit for Cher

Could someone please tell me how you can you find out what songs are on this CD? Thanks!

Sorry I spelled it wrong initially.

What about the American Idol performance songs ..... are they the live performances or the recorded studio versions?

glitzylady said...

I'm assuming that they're the full length "studio" recordings.. The Idol live performances are abbreviated, shorter, versions of the full songs.. The live version of Mad World, for instance, is just over 2 minutes long.. The Idol Studio version is just over 3 minutes... Although both would be excellent!

We'll hear soon I would imagine....

I am extremely grateful that Sony thinks so much of Adam and his potential. Can't see why everyone isn't!
