Thought Adam was going to stay out of politics. This stoning of gays is not a new issue. I don't believe we can stop other governments into changing their policies. Adam has actually had concerts in some of these countries, that believe that is the right thing. He got through I think because it was good for their economy. Even then he and his dancers had to dress appropriately, and he had to tone down his sensual movements.
Some of these people have businesses in the US. 2 big hotels in CA. Babyface and the Kardasians have already canceled events there. We can hit them where it hurts, their pocketbook. I don't think there's anything wrong with performing for the general population, as they are victims, as well, but not a private show for a dictator.
Adam is sharing his concern for the lives of other fellow human beings.
Just think about the fact that Adam could theoretically be one of those stoned to death for being who he is, a gay man.
This is beyond "politics" or "religious freedom". This is about trying to help enact official sanctions to perhaps prevent killing a living human being because they were born gay or lesbian. Because they are different.
I support Adam's use of his celebrity status to reach millions of others who may feel as strongly as he does that no one should die simply because they are gay..
At this moment a woman 8 months pregnant has been sentenced to 100 lashes, then will be hanged in Sudan. Her crime?...She married a Sudanese man who is Christian.
@2:31 She also left her religion and became a Christian. God will handle the leader of that religion. We can do nothing to stop this brutality. Most of the atrocities in this world come down to religion. I am so glad that I can worship my God, without punishment from the government. Although there are many people who want to change the Pledge to omit "under God", and also not to have children say the pledge in schools. I have not looked at Obama lately, but there was a time a couple of years ago, when he wore the flag on his lapel on the wrong side, and also did not put his hand over his heart for the Pledge.
3:34 PM, the words "under God" were not added to the Pledge until 1954. The Sumpreme Court has ruled several times since then that school children are not required to recite it. This is nothing new.
Not sure what the last half of your comment has to do with Adam or the petition.
Nobody telling them to change their religion. People are protesting for human rights. The laws of Abrahimic religions are outdated and not in benefit of today's humanity. They were set for when people couldn't read or write. With today's technology and advancements, these laws bring nothing but destruction.
What you also want to do for human rights, write to your state representatives and senators. You will save lives.
Just because something is part of a religion doesn't make it right. Human rights must be fought for as universal rights, regardless of the particular religion. I realize that religions beliefs are often based on ignorance and misinformation from many generations ago. Religious beliefs often defy logic and truth about human beings. But things can change for the better if people keep working to change attitudes.
Unfair, cruel practices do not have to continue forever, nor should any religion use their so-called faith as an excuse for cruelty. Knowledge and understanding can win out over time. There is such ignorance and fear about homosexuality. But it doesn't have to stay that way. Human rights world-wide are worth fighting for. People are suffering and dying as we argue about a religion's "right" to do these things. I say, no religion has that right, regardless of what its "teachings" happen to be. A defeatist approach to this issue helps no one. I'm glad Adam is speaking out on this issue.
The Old Testament in the Bible contains many laws that if followed today would condone killing children who disobeyed their parents, among other laws that would no longer be followed by modern Christans or Jews. The Sharia Laws have been modified as well, depending on the country etc.
No one should be murdered for being who they are. By anyone, in the name of anyone's god.. Millions have died in the name of one god or another over the centuries. It doesn't hurt to at least try to effect change. It's one thing to discriminate, it's another thing entirely to kill.
I would gladly sign that petition. Since I don't have the time to search for.details. Could anybody please post the link to that petition or tell simply what to do to get it signed ?
There are over 76 other countries in the world where homosexuality is illegal and the punishment ranges from prison to death. No influence from the outside is going to change this. Change will have to come from inside these countries. It's sad but true.
@8:13 That makes it sound that being a homosexual is illegal, when what they really mean, is living the lifestyle , is really what is illegal. That is because the sexual act of a homosexual is un-natural.
Wow! Kim Kardahsian pregnant again? Be honest, I never heard about this country and don't care about this sh...at all. They have own laws, rules, rights, and life. I' m sure all of this tweets, petition to our president, etc. never change laws and rules in this country. We have to support our children from bulling, discrimination, and crime.
Having sex, with the same gender, is not natural. What else would you call it except a lifestyle. A male and female straight couple sharing sex is also a lifestyle. I am proud to say I am homophobic. You can be a homosexual, and take care of your own sex needs, you don't have to do it with a same sex person.
10:07, if its just a lifestyle why don't you stop having sex with your spouse and take care of your own needs and see how easy it is and how happy you are.
A lot of countries and religions discriminate women rights for many centuries. Like wearing stupid trench coats, covering their faces and afraid their husband. These women live in US. And we say US is country of freedom. But these women are discriminated in front of us and nobody even thinks about sending petition to our president. But we so upset about gay rights in whole planet. How come nobody wants to ask Irian's "refugees" why their women have to be slave of their husbands and thier daughters forbidden to go to the proms and show their hair and bodies after 8 years old? We still care about gay rights in all countries around this world. But we don't have rights to protect slave women in our own country. After all, who cares?
9:28 PM....JAK here...."Homosexuals don't mate"......I disagree. Mate has several meanings, friend, companion, spouse, lover...or as a verb...to copulate. Many heterosexuals seek a mate and have no desire to procreate....in many cases...ever.
Have you noticed the ages of the newly married gay people in the states where same sex marriage is legal? Couples who have been together 20 years or more are numerous. I would say they were mates and have mated.
I don't believe anyone, any religion or government is qualified to judge the human rights of fellow citizens. If you are a person who believes in God, then leave it to Him to judge. It's not our job!
10:29 PM....JAK here.....your statement is full of holes. There are many religious practices I , a Protestant, find peculiar, but since we are a country of religious freedom the people in these restrictive religions would be protected by our laws if they chose to leave. They could not legally be forced to return.
What should concern us is the number of states and political leaders who want to strip women of their human rights. Male politicians who want to make laws concerning the reproductive rights of women.
Of course it's barbaric, but what can we do? It's their religious law, their form of government. It's despicable and saying we disapprove won't change anything and we certainly aren't going to Brunei to force them to change their government. There are too many countries with the same religion based governments....JAK
Yes, I signed the petition, but I have no hope it will change anything.
@JAK Honestly, I don't have a huge amount of hope either, but if nothing else, we are making our feelings known.. And asking that this particularly law is abolished... Perhaps eventually.....
Sharia Law/religious law re killing by stoning for adultery, etc.., in the US is of course over-ridden by US Federal Law.. And in other many other countries as well. The law of the land supercedes religious law. But of course in Brunei, the civil/criminal laws support the religious laws..

Come on fellow human beings. CARE!!!

Signed the petition. I wouldn't have been aware of this if Adam had not alerted us.

You do realize that this is part of their religion. Nothing we do will change that.
@12:50 Did you tweet that to Adam?
Adam is sharing his concern for the lives of other fellow human beings.

How many posts do we need about this?
glitzylady, it's how they act on being gay. Not being gay itself.
12:50 -- And that's yet another reason that proves that man-made religions are the cause of most evil and wars on this earth!
1:37, you sound homophobic.
At this moment a woman 8 months pregnant has been sentenced to 100 lashes, then will be hanged in Sudan. Her crime?...She married a Sudanese man who is Christian.
Signed it . . .
Thanks for heads up Adam!

You cannot change some ones religion by petitioning .
You cannot bring about change by doing nothing.
Looking the other way and doing nothing is the same as supporting what is happening. I hope the dissenters never find themselves being attacked.
You cannot change a countries religion.
@4:46 PM PM Why are you trying to stop people from defending human rights? What's in it for you? Do you get satisfaction from doing this?
Nobody telling them to change their religion. People are protesting for human rights. The laws of Abrahimic religions are outdated and not in benefit of today's humanity. @5:25 PM get out
If religion is cause of discort and disunity, NO RELIGION is better than to have any religion.

Well if that's the case, tell Mother Nature, because humans are not the only species that indulge in same sex mating.....JAK
Ah yes JAK, but we are slightly, at least most of us, are above the animals.
Homosexuals, don't mate, they have sex, not for pro=creation.
Well said, JAK!!! And true!
8:41 pm, you cannot separate the two. Being homosexual and having sex with the same gender are natural.
You calling it a lifestyle is insulting and homophobic.
Having sex, with the same gender, is not natural. What else would you call it except a lifestyle. A male and female straight couple sharing sex is also a lifestyle. I am proud to say I am homophobic. You can be a homosexual, and take care of your own sex needs, you don't have to do it with a same sex person.
OMG to feel defeated because it's never going to change is such a negative viewpoint.
I'm proud to say I am NOT homophobic. Equality for all people.
You probably believe in abortion too, pro choice.
10:07, if its just a lifestyle why don't you stop having sex with your spouse and take care of your own needs and see how easy it is and how happy you are.
I do, my husband is dead. The urge doesn't stop because you live alone.
I think we are being trolled. Just ignore 10:07 and their other comments.
@anon 9:28 PM
My husband and I have an adopted son.. and did not procreate, ie reproduce ourselves... so are you saying we shouldn't be together???
A lot of countries and religions discriminate women rights for many centuries. Like wearing stupid trench coats, covering their faces and afraid their husband. These women live in US. @glitzylady OMG! Finally, I got it.
Speechless...

Now, that's something to be upset about!
I respect any religion beliefs, but killing innocent people is beyond cruel indeed!!!
Canadian
