In the next two or three months; or maybe more, Adam Lambert's name will be seen in print over and over again regarding the Queen/Adam concerts, and this is a very good thing!

It sure is somewhat ironic that Adam is putting on hold his own, original music in order to sing "covers" with Queen. Buy hey, if you are the one in a billion who gets to be the front man for an iconic band for a "Once In A Lifetime" tour, how in your right mind would you resist? Plus, who knows how many more opportunities arise from this gig. Queenbert is worlds away from what RCA wanted him to do. No comparison really.

Yes!! As I started reading your comments, I did not know which way you were heading; but fortunately, you went in a very thoughtful and factual direction; in my opinion.

I certainly do agree with you. Also, Brian and Roger have been hinting at some never before recorded songs, that Adam may be performing. Also maybe some that Queen and Adam may write and perform together. We shall see. So glad that Adam was offered this once in a lifetime opportunity, and that he ran with it.

Adam is not only a remarkable artist, but, a very intelligent man. Those who choose to forget that fact; does so at their own lack of knowledge of this extraordinary man!

10:16, Exactly right! The Queenbert gig is NOT "doing covers." Not by a long shot. It's a whole experience of BEING CHOSEN to perform and tour with an epic band. It's an honor and a privilege that no singer in their right mind would say no to. It will be a high point is what will be a long career for Adam. No way is this " just doing cover."

In the grand scheme of things, the longer wait for Adam's third album is just a blip in time. It will be out when the time comes and we'll enjoy it just as much.

Great times in the fandom right now!

Don't mix up any non recorded songs, with the ones that Freddie did record, but were not finished or released. Roger and Brian are digging these up from the archives, and piecing them together with modern technology, and want to make an album of them if there are enough. This is separate from any recording with Adam or collaborating with him on any future recordings with him.

I can't figure out how anyone thinks making an album of covers is the same thing as doing covers on a tour. I see that as two different situations. apples to oranges

Dr. Brian May and Roger Taylor have said they are definitely releasing a new album (most likely later this year) with the songs that they have put together and remastered from the bits and pieces of Freddie Mercury's vocals that he recorded, mostly in the 1980's.. He has said recently in an interview posted in Rolling Stone, and repeated elsewhere, that it will be called "Queen Forever".

The article with Dr. Brian May, and the quote:

"I've just been doing something very similar because we found a few more tracks with Freddie singing and all of us playing and they're quite beautiful. People will be hearing this work toward the end of the year."

May revealed the album will "probably" be called Queen Forever, with the material primarily taken from the Eighties "when we were in full flight." "It's a compilation but it will have this new material on which nobody in the world has ever heard and I think people will really enjoy it," said the guitarist. "It's the big, big epic sound. It wouldn’t have been if we hadn’t have done this restoration job. We only had scraps, but knowing how it would've happened had we finished it, I can sit there and make it happen with modern technology."

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/queen-to-release-new-album-with-unreleased-freddie-mercury-songs-20140527

Adam also hinted, also in a very recent interview, that he **may** perhaps write something with Dr. Bri and Roger while on the concert tour..

"Ironically he’s putting his new originals album on hold to sing covers with Queen. He won’t reveal details of his new label but says his new music will “surprise and impress people — some of it is unexpected, which I love”.
However there is a chance he may write with his Queen band mates.
“It could happen,” Lambert says. “This will be the longest we’ve spent together so I’m sure we’ll get to the point where we want to do something creative. Now we know the show let’s do something new. It could happen."

As to whether Adam will sing any of the new songs by Freddie and Queen on the tour, anything is possible.. as was stated by Brian May, in another interview....

So many great things happening! Guess we just need to wait and see!!!

The thing that blows my mind, and don't quite understand, is why is Adam being the front man for Queen seemingly so much bigger, than Paul Rogers, who was the front man for 4 years. Is it just us as Adams fans make it seem bigger, or is it really epic, and why? I am of course delighted that Adam has this chance. I think it will help his career as nothing else could.
Paul Rogers being front man did the world go as crazy as they are about Adam being with Queen
Glitzylady good question for you?

Anonymous said...

I was fortunate enough to see Q+PR and it was pretty epic with Paul. It was exciting for a chance to see Queen. But Paul brought something different than Adam does, so this is a different epic now.

glitzylady said...

@Anne Marie
I didn't see Queen when they did the Tour with Paul Rogers.. but here are some articles relating to that..

"Queen and Paul Rodgers aren't exactly a match made in heaven. Queen and Freddie Mercury were. But the surviving members of Queen have done everything in their power to preserve the band's legacy--except perform. Enter former Bad Company frontman Rodgers, a roadhouse bloke who could never be confused with the flamboyant Mercury. While Rodgers does an admirable job fronting the harder-edged Queen tunes like "Tie Your Mother Down" and "Hammer to Fall," he seems completely out of his element on the cheeky "Crazy Little Thing Called Love." "

http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2005-09-20/news/0509210001_1_paul-rodgers-freddie-mercury-queen

And Roger Taylor's comments after iHeart:

"Queen's Roger Taylor: 'Adam Lambert's closer to Freddie Mercury than Paul Rodgers'

Drummer Roger Taylor has opened up about the performing dynamic in iconic rock band Queen and revealed that vocalist Adam Lambert is 'closer' to Freddie Mercury than Paul Rodgers, who has been fronting the band for a while now.

During an interview with Mojo magazine, Taylor explained that the two singers are very different in their respective vocal delivery and style, but Lambert is more like Mercury in how he treats the songs:

"Paul has a perfect blues and soul voice, but our songs are big — and dare I say it, theatrical — and Adam fits that more easily... Adam is closer to Freddie. Paul was macho, but Adam is a diva. His range is staggering." "

http://www.pressparty.com/pg/newsdesk/londonnewsdesk/view/91914/?isworld=y

And one more, a quote from an article from the magazine "Classic Rock" 5 years ago:

"The 2005-06 tour featuring former Bad Company frontman Paul Rodgers fronting Queen had been, at best, a head-scratcher. At worst, it was an embarrassing mismatch, since Rodgers’ street-wise R&B-laced style was miles away from Queen’s super-sized pomp."

But as @Anon 2:19 PM said, it was a different kind of epic.. Still the music of Queen, but with a different focus and interpretation by a lead singer, who was not Freddie Mercury..

As an aside, a couple of years ago, I was chatting with someone who, as it turned out, is a "casual fan" of Adam Lambert, one who loved him on Idol but hasn't followed his career.. I mentioned that Adam had been doing some concerts with Queen..

She said "My husband and I saw Queen performing with Paul Rogers as frontman, and while he was good, and we really enjoyed hearing all of the songs, I'm SURE that Adam Lambert would be a better fit. His voice is more suited to sing those Queen songs.."..

So I guess we'll see how Queen + Adam Lambert as a group are received.. Some will love him as the lead singer, others won't..

Just my thoughts..and my friend's.. Who I feel is a reasonably unbiased critic of both..

Personal preference I suppose..

Anne Marie - I think a lot of it is just us, Adam's fans. The majority of the people I know, don't know anything about the tour or even that Adam is still singing after Idol. They've never heard of Paul Rogers either. Adam is big in our world. He's known in spots around the world, yay! But he is not a world wide superstar as some are fond of saying, maybe though he's on his way . The name of Queen is still respected, even among those who weren't aware they were still performing. Let's hope this becomes a super big deal, I'm glad there are so many dates in the US and Canada.

It seems they have gone crazier for Adam and Queen. Brian M. Said himself that Adam was just a better fit for their sings than PR. He complimented PR very nicely said Adam was just a better fit. Done recall them ever saying PR was a one in a billions singers. Paul R. Has had his own success as Brian pointed out but he specifically said Adam was a better fit for them . I have heard more than one person say that after all these years Queen as finally found a suitable great singer to front them.
Adam himself said and Queen said after the I Heart show that people just went crazy for them to perform. I think most people are going crazier for the Queen Adam duo than the PR thing. Except maybe PR fans. This is not against him he had good success himself. But lets face few on this earth can do the job Adams done for Queen and Brian M. Will tell you that. He said Adam was the only one to do it.
Adam has more than just the voice, he sexy, theatrical which they love and has charisma dripping from every pore of his body. Believe me there is a difference. On top of that they get a long so well. There have been comments made that both parties did not get along as well as the Queen Adam association. Paul R has even made that comment. Adam and seems to love Brian and Rodger and get along famously with them. They feel that way about Adam said he was like family. If you are on tour a good while that's means a lot. They respect each other and work well together. If it had been as good with PR they still been with him they are not. Adam has a career as well but he made time for them and will do great things for his career.

It is a personal preference thing. We obviously are excited to see Adam in this rare and honored position.

But if you browse twitter you get the range of opinions from who?, to interesting idea, to hate it, to love it.

If you go to the Queen fan sites you get those who preferred Paul's voice to Adam's, those open to Adam, and the Freddie fans who think the band should have ended with Freddie.

That's life, a wide range of personal preference.

Lots of people just walking around day by day don't know what Gaga is doing or what Bieber is doing or what Bruno Mars is doing or what Katy Perry is doing, etc. etc. Even lots of younger people don't. Depends on who you're interested in. The Queenbert tour is pretty major right now in the summer tour line-ups. I wouldn't diminish it at all. Lots of big acts go through the venues where I live and they are not necessarily all heavily covered in the local media. Even the biggest ones aren't always. Queen is an acknowledged major name, even to non-fans. I think the excitement we feel as Adam fans does spill over a little beyond our "Adam world." It's a major tour in the world of rock/pop music. And, as part of it, Adam will be part of music history. Let's revel in it and ENJOY!

Brian and Roger sure "prefer" Adam!

Anne Marie said...

Thank you for your comments on this. Yes I heard PR once on you tube, and did not care for him at all. His voice is nothing compared to Adam's.
But I see your point that Adam is a better fit, in every way. Their personalities are all very much alike, to say nothing as to how they each put their heart and soul, into every single song.
I don't think Adam could feel any closer to them as he does his own family. What a difference this makes in the work force, or in this case performing on stage. They seem to be totally in sinc with each other. Very unusual to find this in performing groups.
Well I hope that they set the world on fire, just as they have for their fans. Adam wants to please them so much, he is so totally in awe of them, and it is obvious he loves them all dearly.
To see them laughing together at times just warms my heart. We don't know but this might be a changing path in Adam's career.
One little side thought, that I had, after playing with the best, for several months, how will Adam's sweet little band seem to him. I am not putting down any of his band members, but they are not of the same caliber as Queen.
But then he may be satisfied with what he has. Trouble is they are mostly good friends, but business is business.

1:54 pm, are you looking for confirmation that everyone will love Adam and this will be huge for him? As much as we know Adam is incredible and we know Brian and Roger think his voice is one in a million, realistically we also know Adam's name isn't a household name like Queen and many people may not know much about Adam. We are inside the Adam bubble. From the reaction to Adam previously and the reviews for Paul with Queen I expect mixed reviews but I am cautiously optimistic that most of the reviews will be great and the tour will be considered amazing. I don't expect this to "help Adam as nothing else could" though. But that is a whole other conversation.

I watched QVC a while back one of the host said going two big concerts this summer.LG in June Queen in July another host said heard about that so excited. More and more people are finding out about these concerts. Many articles in magazine and papers and even rolling stone many are knowing about these concerts. They certainly have sold well. Madison square Garden sold out almost immediately then a second one added doing almost same thing. Sure most people know just who the front man is . Adam been on Glee and other tv shows PR has not. Adam is an international star and known in quite a few countries especially Asia but certainly not just Asia. Yes he on his way to being a bigger star both in America and abroad. glee, Divas, and other world wide tv shows has helped his international fame as well as just his concerts. The Queen concerts are getting quite a bit of press and sold very well so obviously quite a few know something about it. Adam has is on his way to more fans and more fame and no one deserves it more than Adam L. When those queen concert goers here that voice and hoe he delivers those done new fans will be born. Soon after his new music should be out can't wait. So many great things happening for Adam he deserves them. He worked his way up from nothing and done quite well. So happy he got that house he worked hard for he deserved it. Next few years , next couple years I really believe will do well for Adam. I really do not think its just us going crazy for the Queen thing. Both Adam and Queen said after the I Heart shows so many went crazy for them wanted them to do concerts in the US. Obviously Adam and queen fans abroad want it as well. Can't wait for concerts and Adams new music. I do these concerts will be a game changer for Adam in the way so many more fans will fall in love with him and his voice. Soon after new music coming hopefully wonderful new single first. Good times for my boy Adam are in its way. Can't wait for the concerts this summer!

Anonymous said...

3:19, Paul Rogers/Bad Company is certainly as well known as Brian May/Queen. Adam isn't nearly as famous as Paul.

Anonymous said...

LOL, I think the biggest concerts of the summer depends on the type of music you listen to. I was forced to listen to a country radio station against my wishes (LOL, I wasn't driving, a friend was) and the DJ announced the biggest concerts of the summer are Tim McGraw and Luke Bryan!

Anonymous said...

I think Adam going to have excellent reviews for these concerts. He not PR some may prefer PR but many, many more seem to prefer Adam after they here him that number will hugely increase. queen said he was on in a billion not a one in a million and they know more about music than most people ever will. Adam got fantastic reviews for I Heart no mixed reviews .Paul R. Got Not very good reviews over all for his entire stint with Queen sure he has se mixed ones. I read all Adams reviews for I Heart they were glowing. One said after all these years they finally found the best replacement for Freddie M. We know he being himself not trying be Freddy but they meant he was the best to date. Twitter we all know is a nesting place for negativity and people love to run down other in most cases so why being that stuff here. I guarantee there will he many that will fall in love with Adam. Sure there always nasties that never change . Adam has been quoted as saying the haters can just stay home but they will be missing a hell of a show. I really so think this will help Adam these concerts a hell of a lot negative people can think what they want who cares about them. This is Adam site and I don't think it's just in Adam world that these concerts are getting noticed. Adam is becoming more of a house hold name Glee, and much more has helped that and these concerts and new music will as well. It's true no body mentioning LG and others every minute if the day and know what there doing., these concerts have had much press and sold well.

Anonymous said...

Paul has obviously had a longer career than Adam has, and he's been with major bands, but Adam may ultimately have the bigger impact with Queen in the long run, esp. since this will likely be Queen last major tour. Brian and Roger seem incredibly enamored of Adam, both professionally and personally. I'm sure they've liked their other "frontmen" just fine, too. But this time, it just seems different. It's like they finally found "the one." They've said it themselves. Adam is as close to Freddie as they can get.

There have been plenty of high-profile guest frontmen for Queen, but there is no denying that this time, it's very very special to them.

3.27 I know very well who Adam l. Is did not have clue who PR is unless Queen mentioned him. Adam has not been on the music decent nearly as long as he has. His popularity will be growing quite a bit next couple years. He is famous.Adam did get very good reviews for his work with Queen PR did not. He was not good with Queen and heard they did not do well in from their concerts with him in US and others. Your obviously a PR fan and it does not really matter how famous you are if your bit a good fit for the band your playing with. Many have said it but more important Queen them selves said that Adam was just a lot better for than PR for their music.

Anonymous said...

3:43, OK, don't believe random regular people on twitter who were excited about Queen and asked "who is Lambert?"

Anonymous said...

What difference does it make how frigging famous how famous Paul Rogers is suppose to be if he not a good fit for Queen. queen themselves have said Adam is a much better fit for their music. They also seem to have a lot of respect for each other they seem to be missing with Queen and PR.

Anonymous said...

I heard Queen has had 11 singers as their lead front man!!!

Anonymous said...

It doesn't look good to bag Paul Rogers online and it doesn't do Adam any favors. Be happy that Adam is fronting Queen without giving negative comments about others who have fronted Queen's band.

Anonymous said...

4:37, calm down. The point was made Paul is more well known than Adam is all. Just because you have no idea who Paul or Bad Company is but know Adam doesn't mean all other people are the same as you.

If I were a newcomer to this site and read this thread, I'd have a pretty hard time believing this is ADAM LAMBERT FAN SITE!

Your question shows that you know little of the whole music scene of rock, classic rock, Queen's place in it, of their front men Freddie included. Adam fronting the Queen is like the RED Nose on Rudolf the Reindeer!!!
A Must!!!!

The minute I saw Adam on Idol I knew something "Once in a Lifetime" just appeared for the whole world to admire --- and I have been a music lover all my life!

Anonymous said...

@2:18 GL . . .I think it has to do with the passion and emotion that Adam sings the songs with.

You know the "sound bath"

Adam is like a spark

He has me "Listening to Music Again"

And when he performs in other countries . . I kinda get a history lesson. . looking up the countries high points

Looking up his charities

Just purchased 4-set CD of Queen's greatest hits

All of this because Adam and his voice came into my world.

Even if you don't like Tim McGraw and country music - be happy his tours draw in excess of 20.000 people nightly.
In 2013 in partnership with Operation Homefront, at every tour stop a mortgage free home was given to a military member in need and/or wounded in service. The tour awarded 70 homes. Country stars have a lot of heart <3
