Thanks for posting the videos glitzylady. I'm sure we're all in for a big treat with these. <3

Fabulous videos, as always. Thank you so much for posting them.

Wanted to ask y'all -- and if this was already discussed in another post, forgive me -- but is everyone hearing some extra echo effect now being used in the last 2 or 3 shows? I can see it sounding cool for one song, such as maybe "Somebody To Love," to which Adam gives so many twists, turns, bends and nuances anyway. But in just watching "Love Kills" and WWTLF, unless I'm imaginging it, I've heard the echo being used again...right?

To me, Adam's voice is big enough, beautiful enough, dynamic enough and has quite enough inherent projection that I don't see the reason in using echo on so many songs -- and even it takes away from hearing some of those fabulous notes just as they ARE.

Thoughts anyone?

These videos are fantastic and no, I can't hear some extra echo effect being used. The sound is really clear at my end.

Glitzylady, thanks very much for posting these videos.

Jadam NZ said...

Adam is making these songs his own, more and more as each concert comes along.
MSG sure went off.

Anonymous said...

Yes, there are echoes here and there and I think they're done deliberately to be part of the sound.

Anonymous said...

OT and sorry to announce (but I'm sure Queen & Adam agree):

One more missed from the Gallery of Living Legends...

RIP Johnny Winter.

Anonymous said...

Toronto concert had echoed but it was great indeed!!!:) No complain at all. Adam is pure and solid...:)

Anonymous said...

Maybe the echoing is needed to support Adam's voice. Maybe something missing in his voice that Freddie had.

Anonymous said...

There may have been a few minor sound issues during ABTD, but generally the sound came across as loud and clear as can be expected given that we are watching video's and not the live performance. I agree Adam has made these performances his own and he's doing a magnificent job! I have tickets for the Australian tour, it will be amazing to see Queen and Adam performing in our country and I hear talk of possibly extending the tour to include Europe now, in particular a big demand from London, not bad for a tour that originally was only going to cover the US and run for around 4 weeks, people are so excited to see them it could go on for ever, still it is a once in a lifetime opportunity so why not.

It sounds as though the echo is there to extend the long notes that Adam sings.

Happy to report on the billboard.com Adam is ahead of Kay Perry at 51.38%. Keep voting; poll closes today. Glamberts are awesome.

4 54 & 5 39 AM

I see that all the Adam adulation is killing you; best show ever! Apparently, you just had to find something to complain about because of all the great things that are happening to Adam.

5 39 am, if you had any brain matter and your homophobia towards Adam; you would realize how stupid you sound. Freddie Mercury was also a Gay man, and it has been said that he received many of the same type of hateful remarks that your beyond ignorant nut case self is saying. Believe me you would be the last person that Freddie Mercury would want as a fan. Also, Adam Lambert is much better off not having your kind of hateful person among those who are his fans! What a waste you are to the goodness of mankind!

So very proud of Adam; he really nailed it last night. Queen plus Adam Lambert are the talk of the town. So proud to be the fan of the person that Brian and Roger call the voice of One in a Billion! The fact that Adam is one of the most sexiest, most gorgeous hunk of man around certainly does not hurt!

Anonymous said...

Adam was so fantastic last night. That voice is unmatched. Sounded great to me. Nitpicking is beyond ridiculous!

5:54, maybe that is what Adam can't do, carry the notes long enough, so they have to use echo.

Not good that the New York Times gave a bad review :(

Anonymous said...

These trolls are beginning to sound like zombies very creepy.

Anonymous said...

@6:19 A.M.

Just because there's a bad review doesn't mean the 'reviewer' is right or has credibility. The L.A. Times reviewer gave Britney the same 3-star rating he gave QAL,so that's a bit telling...can't differentiate real vocals from auto-tune..not a good reviewer of great music and great vocals.....considering Spears is not exactly a vocal powerhouse or 'live' vocalist for that matter. I suspect the N.Y. times person lacks the musical integrity too.

The people will speak. Their voices will be heard and from what I've been reading, the musings of a few ill-informed biased underqualified critics will not stop the show.

Anonymous said...

Adam can sustain those high notes just fine. Don't know why.they are using that echo thing. The nyt reviewer obviously wants queen to be just like it was with freddie. It looked to me like the audience loved the show and adored adam. Wish this guy had mentioned it.

There are some Glamberts who always say critics are ill-informed, biased and unqualified or similar when they don't like a review. That isn't necessarily so. As Adam's fans, we should be able to take the bad with the good reviews and move on. Critics are entitled to their opinion just as much as we are entitled to ours, whether we agree with their opinion or not.

Not every critic gives Adam the time of day. They go in with a preconceived negative view and won't change it even if the opposite is true. This is not the mark of a respectable reviewer, imo. A good reviewer will cover BOTH great and not so great aspects.

Anonymous said...

Nacho man is here.

Anonymous said...

7:11 I know, just ignore. Singing the same tune over and over it gets so tiring and boring.

Anonymous said...

7 10
If they think the show is a mess they are going to say so. That's what they get paid to do. Calling long time music critics for major, very respected newspapers ill informed just makes you sound like a defensive fool. One can only hope adam learns some lessons from reading these reviews.

Anonymous said...

Furthermore...when a reviewer can't differentiate 'live' vocals from other, then they really don't have any business reviewing.

And if Adam's vocals don't come across as strong (whether it be sound issues) then it's very hard to believe they could possibly be in the arena. The show I went to was clear as day that Adam possesses an arena-worthy voice.

But,alas, the negative reviews rarely make that connection. Too busy pining about Freddie and how Adam isn't him.

Anonymous said...

7 17
Well the reviewers are obviously in the arena. I mean what a dumb comment.

Anonymous said...

@7:17 A.M.

Do you ever read anything anyone writes...

I said I respect reviewers who can bring forth qualified observations and highlight both good and bad in a balanced way. There is absolutely no way the N.Y. Times guy did that. So....his review, imo, didn't meet the qualifications I have set for a legit reviewer. Reviews don't have to be glowing but they have to be somewhat balanced and to a degree, unbiased. If you have a hatred for an artist going in and you don't articulate based on what was true, then you can't separate your feelings from your objectivity and give a fair assessment.

IMO.

Anonymous said...

I do think Adam's patter could be improved. Singing-wise, he's great every time.

Anonymous said...

The daily reviewer gets it. To bad the Times guy doesn't.

Anonymous said...

7:29 AM
You think the New York Times reviewer had a hatred for Adam because you don't like his review. You're not in any position to make such a presumption but there are Glamberts who always do this, and the comments they make on critics' sites when they don't like their review, are embarrassing, and don't do Adam any favors.

Anonymous said...

The reviewer said Adam sounded like R&B/HipHop. Really? Doubtful he was even there.

Anonymous said...

7 38
Well the hollywood reporter tweeted during the show that the New York Times reviewer was there, but don't let facts bother you. Do you know what a scandal it would be if reviewers weren't actually at the event? This is such a stupid comment, really you should be ashamed.

Queen + Adam Lambert concert review: Brian May, Roger Taylor prove that they’re far from biting the dust at Madison Square Garden gig
Former American Idol finalist Adam Lambert channeled the late Freddie Mercury to reinvigorate the legendary band’s classic tunes, from 'Radio Gaga' to 'Bohemian Rhapsody.'

I don't particularly care for when an Adam fan is absolutely blind to what may be the realities of any given show or performance, based on their devotion, that sort of peeves me actually... HOWEVER, with that said - you there above, don't give sooo much credit and validity and reverence and respect to any long time music critique with similar blind faith... such critics and reviewers, especially in major markets, are notorious for caring more about how their own intellect and knowledge is coming off in their review and writings than the show/performance. Many long time critics, especially in major markets, are notorious for prioritizing displaying their supposed knowledge and prowess in favor of reviewing the specific show in question. Many such critics are notorious for going into events with pre-conceived notions. So, someone can put a little blind faith & devotion in Q+AL, who seemingly are pleasing fans left and right... or someone can put their blind faith in a reviewer (of which many have agendas of their own, I am NO conspiracy theory type, at all! But there is a reality in what I am saying as well, get informed). It will be any reade'rs choice of course... that little thing called free will. But to call someone to the carpet for their unwillingness to acknowledge potential misfires in the QAL show or specific performances, but not themselves acknowledge the very present questionable practices with many major market critics and reviewers is both ironic and hypocritical. JS.

Anonymous said...

@7:29. That was a good post. You were not OTT or cray. Fair post.

Anonymous said...

"You think the New York Times reviewer had a hatred for Adam because you don't like his review."

True...I don't like his review. I don't think the reviewer liked Adam going in. I've seen reviews where the critic isn't an Adam fan per se but gives Adam his dues. I've seen reviews where they weren't necessarily glowing, gave credit where credit was due. Reviews that actually discuss the things that are important...music...vocals...crouwd enthusiasm...feeling in the arena.

Fair, balanced and unbiased. Is that too much to ask? Instead...this reviewer comes off as someone with an axe to grind.

Anonymous said...

7:41 you know what the fact is. I went to QAL and what the reviewers write doesn't match what I heard, saw, felt, and talked to others around me and on my way out to hallways and parking lot asking strangers what they thought of the show. BTW which QAL shows did you go to since you have the loudest voice around here?

Anonymous said...

Anyone who has seen the negative review from New York Times, that is just a repeat from some other blog. I was looking at the news timeline on google and saw that same exact review posted by several other blogs before them. This is often the case with internet news sites.

Anonymous said...

Different strokes for different folks.

Anonymous said...

These last 4 posts or so are very valid... expressed without an ugly attitude, and fair observations, imho

Anonymous said...

No one is ever going to agree so how about giving it a rest and enjoy the videos which are, after all, the topic of this thread.

Anonymous said...

@7:37 A.M.

And just to let you know...I'm one of those fans who would rather hit a review I agree with and comment rather than give the time of day to a review I don't agree with. It can be done. So please do not 'presume' what type of Glambert I am.

Anonymous said...

@8:01
People are keeping it civil. I think that last 10 posts or so have been civil and even thought provoking. This is a blog afterall. I know the thread is for the videos, I get that, but there is no new thread and the reviews are a valid topic for discussion for participants here. At least the discourse has been fairly civil so far, fingers crossed for the continuation of that.

I can hear the echoes on this show...hadn't heard it before this one, apart from on Now I'm here....I don't really like it, I don't think it adds anything to it.

Many fans who know the NYTimes were expecting a negative review even before it was written. Same with another of the bad ones...the person who wrote it tweeted out negative tweets even before the show began...obviously went in with a preconceived idea.

and @7.02am
the producers of Hedwig have approached Adam several times about the role....he has said he's too busy, and will be for a while.

Anonymous said...

The ny times review resonates with me because he calls adam out for all the things I find unwatchable about his performance. His embarrassing patter. When he tries too hard and does stupid things like laying down on the floor, spitting water. The fact that his voice can not favorably compare to Freddie's. those are what I notice as well. I saw many comments about adam taking a rock show and over singing, making it broadway instead of rock. All valid criticisms that have been mentioned by critics in every city.

Anyway, I am done here. Have a lovely day

Anonymous said...

8:02 AM
No one is presuming anything except those who presume critics who do not review Adam well, actually hate Adam. That is beyond ridiculous!

Anonymous said...

8:05 AM
How do YOU know the producers of Hedwig have approached Adam and his response? Geez, Adam deserves privacy.

Anonymous said...

I heard Adam was on fire last night from people that were actually there. I question that NY times review if he was even there? he said ( Adam sang love of my life, which he did not! The Ny daily times gave a great review.

If an article has a comment section that means Glamberts are graciously invited to write comments and they do. Most of the Glambert comments I read are sensible well thought out opinions. Too bad you find them embarrassing some comments I find fascinating and educational too.

"No one is presuming anything except those who presume critics who do not review Adam well, actually hate Adam."

As Admin/Admin helper please read this: Admin together with your influence & help could delete the whole awful review thread (posted by Admin fan), but you all three can't get rid of this constant LOL pest - you just allow it to continue its posting! WHY??? Easy to recognize, easy to delete. Nothing it says is of value to this site. Do you really want to lose more people from this site???

This is a fan site. People here should feel comfortable flailing and gushing about Adam as much as each and every one wants. This (being an Adam fan) is one of the best forms of feel good escapism I know. On this site it is virtually impossible to be OTT happy, joyous and loving.

Why do you, @Admins on this site, let this continue? They are not even fans of Adam.

Ps. Have nothing against constructive criticism or 'realistic postings' as long as they are respectfully written AND most of all not bashing those who find Adam one of the rare wonders of music world! Cause that's what he is from a TFP, a true fan's perspective, hope you get what I mean, LOL (pun intended).

Sooooooo fed up with this Lol shit. Get ridd of IT, pleeeeeeezzz!

Give the Digital Journal some love too, link at Lamberlust comment. Omg he is so right on when he said you can't keep your eyes off Adam, that was me!!!

Anonymous said...

@8:52 A.M.

Interesting.

The New York Times reviewer didn't stray too far in sentiment from his 2010 review. Would it be fair to suggest then that he most likely had a preconceived 'opinion' of Adam before the QAL concert?

Anonymous said...

After watching the videos from all the shows so far, I believe that Adam is doing a fabulous job on stage peforming those iconic rock songs of Queen. He seems freer, happier and more comfortable with each show. Maybe the banter at times is silly or pointless, but nothing compares to his amazing vocal talent and mesmerizing stage presence overall. Sold out venues and enthusiastic audiences standing and clapping during the entire show say it all. A few negative reviews are not going to make any difference: tickets are already sold and extra dates have been added. Let Adam, Brian and Roger bask in the glory of their time together on stage. With all the ugliness, horror and fighting going on in the world, let's just enjoy the music and feel good even if it is for only a short time.

Thanks for your comment.

I don't agree with certain of the comments here either, but at the same time, there is a fine line between allowing a conversation to develop, with a variety of points of view, and deciding who is a true internet "troll" and who is not.

And certainly sometimes the comments that are ugly, mean, extremely derogatory to Adam, to another fan, etc.., and the outright lies, when proven to be so, are deleted.

And when they are deleted, as a last resort, Admin and Admin helpers are sometimes criticized for that as well.

It's the old "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation..

Admin choses to keep this blog as an open forum, for the most part.. There is however moderation when needed. That will be happing here today..

In the meantime, go to the next thread, the one I just posted, with the New York Daily News review, and leave some great comments.. And if allowed on the actual NYDN site, do the same on the actual Review as well.

As an aside, I was personally dumbfounded and honestly rather shocked, by the New York Times review.. And I disagreed with most of it..

I've seen the Queen + Adam Lambert concert live three times (Vancouver, the 2 Las Vegas shows..), and the audience response was extremely positive.. the applause was deafening. People loved them. It was apparent to anyone who was there in person.

I spoke with some long time Queen fans at all of the shows and they loved the concert, and thought Adam was awesome.. But the NYT reviewer apparently did not.. For whatever personal reasons he may have had.. I won't be posting the NYT review as a thread topic. My personal choice.. But I respect the reviewer's right to have his say, even if I don't agree with it..

Most of the reviews have been good, and many have been glowing re the Queen + Adam Lambert Tour..

I think Dr. Brian May, Roger Taylor, and Adam Lambert feel the love coming at them from the attendees at the concerts.. And I suspect that's what really matters to them..

There have been more than a couple and most have been good. Glambert reviews are just as wonderful as some Queen fan reviews of Adam. I was at the Houston show everyone I talked to said Adam did great and he beautiful. Everyone was just having a wonderful time. Best show ever. My daughter a hard sale said mom he so good! He should be huge. The best review is they are sold out shows. People that can are seeing multiples and the majority of the reviews are good. There are more than a couple of reviews a city. Professional or not the majority of the people are loving that show. I never ever enjoyed any show more than the QA show it was amazing. As much as I love Adam if it was not i say so. Sue

Folks, Queen with Freddie were killed by the press throughout their careers. It got so bad that Freddie stopped giving interviews. Just totally stopped. Freddie would be shocked at how much credit the press now gives him i think.

But the music stood the test of time and now most people don't give a crap what the music critics say about Queen. Yes, they are more gracious to the remaining members now - but they have to be! They are selling huge amounts of tickets in their freakin' 60s!

Adam is the new guy here, so he's an easy target for the critics. It kind of comes with the territory when you are a Queen fan. If you let it bother you it will steal your joy. I learned long ago to let it go. They guy is doing great. Enjoy the music!

If someone feels that they want to express themselves to a comment that is disrespectful to Adam on this blog site dedicated to him and his fan; then, who are you to intervene? I never forget when Shawshank Redemption got horrible reviews when it came out on big screen. Sure it costed the movie an Oscar. But it is one of the best most watched movie of the century.

This tour thus far got almost 80% great reviews from online publications' reviewers in each city. Fans recaps are great. Tons of great tweets during the shows from fans. Great fan videos of the show.

I went to three shows and I had a memorable epic time.

After seeing this show; people are tweeting that once is not enough, and are getting tickets for the New Jersey show; if there are any left.
Adam an Queen are getting rave reviews from the people that were their. The ones who really count; not paid critics.

Someone said that Adam can learn from the harsh critics in a post above. Yes, he can learn by doing exactly what he is doing and getting better with it at each show. Adam and Queen are doing this for the fans who are very, very happy. They are very happy about this. Queen has been in the business for years; pretty sure they are not going to let a few media critics effect them in any way.

Try as some may to convince otherwise this critics do not have magic in their pens or minds; they are just like anyone else, except they get paid to do it. Some of them are bias, and we all know it. Believe what you wish; but, don't try to convince others that these critics walk on water. Queen and Adam were fabulous last night, and any fair minded person would have given them their just dues! The most important thing is that the fans are enjoying them a hell of a lot wherever they go. So on with the shows and let the critics bite their dust!

Hollywood Reporter review:

Queen + Adam Lambert Create Magic at Madison Square Garden (Video)

Back in March, when the Queen + Adam Lambert tour was first announced, Lambert sat in the front lobby of Madison Square Garden and told reporters that playing the famed arena was a dream of his.

On July 17, Lambert’s dream came true as he stood in front of a packed house that included View host Whoopi Goldberg, stepping in for the late Freddie Mercury on a summer night that Queen guitarist Brian May said was filled with “magic.”

Standing behind a curtain and shrouded in a dark silhouette, Lambert seemed to take a moment to gather himself before unleashing his masterful vocal acrobatics on the opening number, “Now I’m Here.”

It was a dramatic moment -the realization of a boyhood fantasy come true.

When May asked the crowd how they liked “the new guy,” Lambert was greeted with cheers, to which he humbly responded, “Thanks, guys.”

Yes thank you Brent. You made us all feel better that love Adam. All I know is I was in very bad pain and for a little over two hours I just about forgot about it. That concert was wonderful I enjoyed it so much. Adam was out and out great period. You saying that about hie much more nice things are being said about the very talented Freddy now that he passed. That brings to mine how much nicer some people not all are about MJ after he passed. Would it not be nice to give these greatly talented people there just dies when they are alive. Ad doing a wonderful job wish I could go to more of them. I have got to get a new phone when I can get to it. It drops all the vids hardly get to see them. Hard to type on it. The vids would have been dark on my phone why I did not get any sorry when I went in Houston. Hopefully when Adams album out and he does concerts and he Will i will be strong enough to go and get this vids for you. Soon as get eye fixed get new phone. Again anyone that could say anything bad about Adams performance is seeing a different concert than I saw. He was amazing they all were. That was does not dies made few mistakes hard to type on it right now. Again thank you Brent help my blood pressure as well. Sue

There seems to be a loss of perspective and reality among some fans where the glowing reviews are considered accurate and good reviews and the not glowing reviews are considered hack reviews by somebody who has no idea what they are talking about. This is ridiculous thinking. Both types of reviews have valid points. By trashing a less than glowing review fans just look narrow minded and sour grapes and it reflects poorly on the fandom and Adam as well. No need to belittle a professional reviewer from a well respected newspaper. I recommend just ignoring and leaving alone any reviews you don't like.

Brent Bradley is a long time Queen fan who recently attended one of the concerts and came here to express some kind and supportive comments about Adam and his association with Queen, a week or so ago.. He was not familiar with Adam or his voice before that.. I very much appreciate his words, then and now... And thank him again...

So typical of this place. A well known reviewer is accused of not even being at the concert and his opinion is considered invalid while people worship at the altar of a random Queen fan who tosses a few crumbs our way.

Shouldn't "total failed human being" be deleted too?

I think all the negative personal attacks should be deleted or none at all. That would be the fair and objective thing to do.

There were more positive reviews from last night's show than this one negative review. Hollywood Reporter write a nice review of the show. Let's concentrate on all the good things. Read great recaps of fans who went to MSG on twitter, IDF and Adamtopia. NYT didn't give a great review to two nights of Bruno Mars and Pharrell shows. It's one person's point of view about music. The reviewer got his degree from Yale in music. Couldn't do much with his top notch degree to impress. So he decided to review other artists who made it big in music scene. Good for him.

Adam gave a SPECTACULAR performance while enjoying every moment !!! I am proud to be one of his fans !!!

"What do I think about critics? I think they're a bunch of shits." — Freddie Mercury

So Sue is allowed to call people names?

@ 9:16; Here, here! Yes, the critics did hate Queen back in the day, but who has some of the most iconic, recognizable music on the planet? Those that can't do, critique. To hell with the narrow-minded fool from NYT. As Adam says, "It ain't that deep." Ticket sales tell the tale, and they (Q+AL) can laugh all the way to the bank.

Agree - well said.

What's all the kerfuffle about this supposed "lol" person? There's more than 1 person using the expression "lol" on this site. There seems to be a lot of aggro about it.

I've read the NY Times review. ...
Let me firstly say that I am a genuine Adam Lambert enthusiast. I have a high regard for his undeniable talent, stage presence, his extraordinary vocal ability, tonality & technique, as well as his music.
I am also admirer of Freddie Mercury as well. One can be both, and recognize the unique and iconic placement and timing for both men and their contributions to music and history.

I, too, wasn't pleased with the things I read in the NYT review, disagreed with his opinions.

Yet, there is something that he did mention that I thought was worth considering, but within context. It's a concept the reviewer brought forward that I'd even objectively considered before myself. It was in reference to (toward the end of the review) Adam's "authority" in performing/stage presence with Queen. Although the reviewer was way off in implying that Adam demonstrates NO authority (as this is not true at all), and certainly, there was no need to compare Adam to Freddie Mercury (I know, many of us are tired of hearing it)... Yet, there may be valid reasoning as to why it was mentioned it and perhaps a few things to consider as to why the "authority" concept may have a bit of merit.

Here's my two cents....
ONE: Adam does, indeed, demonstrate definite "ownership" of the stage, a strong connection with the audience, leadership fronting Queen, and undeniably in delivering Queen's songs (as his own).
Yet, there is a certain 'authority', as displayed by Freddie Mercury in those same Queen songs....(no comparison intended here. ONLY reference for understanding - no intent to offend, please. It's just that for many, Freddie's style of delivery IS their reference for Queen songs -synonymous with the songs themselves. It's a fact. Not recently a pleasant one, but a fact. So, please, indulge me for a bit, if Only for reference, not comparison. The REVIEWER made the comparison. I am simply citing the comparison)... that comes from within a singer who is singing his OWN songs & his OWN music. And, THAT, my fellow AL enthusiasts, is something Adam certainly shows, indeed, with his own music on stage without question.
TWO: The reviewer compares Freddie's older, more mature demonstration of "authority" to Adam's current stage presence. Realistically, Freddie was in his late 30's, early 40's when he demonstrated the prime of that "authority" that legendarily commanded an audience. In truth, Freddie wasn't always as commanding in performance in his earlier years, and, likewise, Adam will demonstrate that more and more with time and maturity as an artist.
Finally, there is the consideration of good ol' personality difference. Not BETTER, not WORSE. Just DIFFFERENT. Freddie's stage persona was naturally grittier, harder, edgier. Adam's is a bit more sensual...very confident, classy, playful, seductive....Powerful nonetheless...not unlike the Elvis genre. (thus, the salivating about him from both genders with ample bra & panty throwing).

Two different styles - both powerful and authoritative in their own right.

Thanks for your rational post - good reading - I agree.

Thanks for the link to that article. Sadly, there are the usual OTT comments.
