The Sydney Morning Herald just couldn't wait until Tuesday — the day its city's two-night Q+AL extravaganza starts — to cover the show, and we're just fine with that because this review from the morning paper of Australia's largest city is another outstanding piece of work!

"While his powerful, impressive voice proved more than capable of doing justice to Queen's iconic rock anthems, Lambert found his own during Killer Queen. For the first time in the show, Lambert gave the audience a sense of who he was and seemed fuelled by the welcome response he got."
"...Who Wants to Live Forever....was better than the album version (and I am now awaiting hate mail from the die-hard Queen fans…)."

Freddie is Freddie
and
Adam is Adam
Love them both
Vocals . . . . you know how your heart and mind respond
Totally agree about WWTLF, that I watched live from Budapest. Adam wins that one, hands down, although I still love Freddie. These 2 shouldn't be compared , but celebrated for their talent.
@Allysa Mentor: I couldn't say it better 'These 2 shouldn't be compared, but celebrated for their talent'
The only criticism, I have heard, actually since the tour started, was that much as everyone loves Brian, and love his guitar playing throughout the show, with Adam and band, they have almost universally felt the 15 minute guitar solo was a bit too long. He is playing almost continuously through the show, with a lot of solos before and after songs, the show lost some momentum during his solo time. It picked up again when the singing started again.
I saw the show in Md, ninth row seats and it was pretty crazy. Standing, singing, and dancing the whole time, so by the time Brian started his solo I was exhausted. So most everyone sat down and it was an extremely enjoyable intermission. The energy in that show is incredible, I don't know how they do it.
I agree with you @Allysa Mentor..
Quite honestly, I enjoyed Brian's solo interlude, and in a way, it occurs to me that they may have planned it not only to showcase Dr. May's iconic and incredible skills as a master class guitarist but also to give those of us who needed a little "intermission" ie a chance to go to the restroom and/or sit down for a bit.. Since the show was over 2 hours long and all.. with no "official" break/intermission... Actually very smart in retrospect...
I attended three shows in the US and at the 3rd one, in Las Vegas, I made the slight error in judgement in having a large (tall, cold) drink at the beginning of the show.. I contemplated long and hard about jumping up and heading to the "facilities" during Brian's extended solo, but honestly, I admire his playing so much, and because this one was the last of the Queen + Adam Lambert shows that I may ever see, I just stayed put.. and enjoyed and admired.
So for those who felt it was too long.. to each his own.. But what an HONOR to be there to hear the iconic music being played live.. I honestly loved every single minute.... whether there was singing or not.. I was there to see and hear Adam certainly, but also to see and hear the music of Queen being played live once again.. Every single moment of it..
Hoping to have another chance again in the future, which I think is a very good possibility considering the massively positive response to this 2014 Tour..
@Allysa and @glitzylady -- count me in. Especially for me having had a seat on the back half of the floor where you HAVE to stand if you want to see everything on the stage and not just watch the screens, it too was a relief that most of the people in front of me sat down and took a break when Brian started his solo -- so I could sit too! :) And, actually, I am REALLY into that "spacey" sound that was Brian's solo -- it reminded me a lot of one of my favorite PBS series when I was younger (which was recently re-done on FOX): "Cosmos."
And here's another thought: Adam might have found WELCOME relief in having that much of a break -- sort of like how they have intermission in a musical -- so he can take a brief rest. I know he tweeted something recently about "taking it easy is for amateurs" (what was that tweet again?), but singing 10(?) songs straight, I'm sure having that 15+ minutes to chill is a great help to him.
I agree with all of you who appreciated the Brian solo , and took it for a break. I was just saying what I had read in several comments and write ups about the shows. Unfortunately I cannot go to any of the shows, but I do see all the videos, and write ups. That has been the only negative thing I have read. All other comments have been extremely positive about Queen, and especially about Adam, even from die hard Freddie fans.
@broddybounce
Yes, exactly right about giving Adam..and his voice...a break.. A little time for some of his favorite "Throat Coat" tea, and just a chance to let the voice rest a bit.. And for him as well, to cool off after working so hard up there on the stage.. .. maybe a little shoulder massage.
Either way, such an amazing experience! Although I've always been a Queen fan, I had never had the opportunity to see them perform live, with or without Freddie..
