The openly gay singer and former American Idol contestant has returned to the show, but this time as a member of the judging panel.
Adam Lambert took the leap from Idol alumni to judge this week, but only as a stand in. Lambert joined Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. at the New York American Idol auditions, acting as a temporary replacement for Keith Urban, who has taken a leave of absence to be with his wife Nicole Kidman following the unexpected death of her father.
Lambert, who has just completed his summer tour with Queen, was the runner up in the either season of the talent finding competition, and has since gone on to become one of its most successful discoveries.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight about his guest spot on the panel, Lambert expressed his joy at making the jump from former contestant to judge but added “Unfortunately, it’s under these circumstances. My condolences to Keith and his family”.
Meanwhile, fellow judges Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. have embraced Lambert into the fold and expressed their fondness and respect for the ex-contestant.
Lopez said “Adam is so fun. He brings in a whole new thing. He’s a sweetheart”, while Connick added “He brings what no one else can bring which is the perspective of a contestant who made it all the way to the finale”.

I loved JLo and Harry's comments about Adam. I might just change my opinion about them. haha

Once again people falling under Adams spell. The words "To know him is to love him" could have been written just for Adam.

"Winq" is a publication aimed at gay men. I'm guessing the use of the term "openly gay" in this case is a point of pride and identity..
