Adam Lambert to Judge 'Idol' N.Y. Auditions

American Idol alumnus Adam Lambert has been tapped to sub for Keith Urban at Wednesday’s Season 14 auditions at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, as Urban grieves over the loss of wife Nicole Kidman’s father, who died last week. Lambert, who competed on the show’s eighth season and was a mentor on Season 13, said as recently as last year that he would someday like to be a judge on the show, and now he’s getting his chance, albeit in less-than-the-best circumstances. Since narrowly losing his own competition, Lambert has become a successful solo artist, as well as performing with Queen. Kidman’s father, Dr. Antony Kidman, died in Singapore, apparently of a heart attack.
