50 Geeky Facts About Queen

Queen are off on tour once more, with Adam Lambert filling in again for the late, great Freddie Mercury. While we wait, here's 50 geeky bits of Queen trivia to feast on, starting with Brian May, who despite having played on the roof of Buckingham Palace still suffers from nerves and anxiety. "I go through major crises every few months... I'm a weird kind of animal."

Whoa, not bad for Queen, doing a roaring business with their QAL tour and now their new album. Adam too in some ways will boost sales for Queen and vice versa when Adam's album is released next year. Adam might even be able to promote his A3 on the next QAL next year...a very sizable platform. Good strategy for both who have somewhat merged as one, quite incidentally...as I've always said, very strong team!

As busy as I am, I am stopping my work a minute to share my thoughts about Brian and Roger's decision to release and promote their past (and Freddie's) at the same time they are introducing and asking the world to celebrate the talent and greatness of their new Frontman, Adam.
Let me me clear, I absolutely LOVE Freddie. He has long been one of my favorite performers and vocalists. And QUEEN is my favorite band of all time. However, now that QUEEN has engaged the finest performer and best voice of our decade (ADAM!) and countries all over the world (even the hard core Freddie fans) are welcoming ADAM with so much enthusiasm, it is unclear to me why they have chosen this time to showcase Freddie and their (youth's) unpublished works. Seems to me like this is the time for QUEEN to use their energy, experience and enhanced skills doing what no other band can do -- create new kinds of sounds and songs with ADAM! Adam has wholeheartedly rendered the songs of QUEEN's youthful (with Freddie) catalogue and he pays sincere and generous homage to Freddie and I hope he will continue doing so. Adam is obviously enjoying and is appreciative of the opportunity to be the new QUEEN Frontman but, as a devoted fan, I would also appreciate hearing/seeing my favorite vocalist and band -- QUEENBERT -- creating anew...moving into the future of music. Those two masters of music (Brian and Roger), no longer have an energetic music career in front of them. This is the winter of their innovative career -- and the birth of Adam's. They are all creative geniuses. As a fan, I am looking forward to their doing with Adam something similar to what they did with Freddie: redefining sound and the musical theatre.

Brian and Roger said recently they will be working on some new music/songs with Adam...a new collaboration; it was sounded out by Roger who said not doing so would be a waste of talents / opportunities. I guess the old Queen compositions hold dear to Brian, Roger and Queen too.

Queen are saying they'll record new music with Adam. They released 4 albums with Paul Rodgers.

I heard them saying that Lammy which is another reason their decision to promote these "Freddie-works" AT THIS TIME surprises me. It's just going to get all those Freddie fans riled up again ...and confuse the public and get people comparing the two incessantly. Who knows -- maybe that publicity is what they want. Just seems like they could have waited. Oh well, it's done...glad I have this soapbox to share my Glambert thoughts :)

11:50.....Whoa, released 4 albums with Paul Rogers; serious work indeed; what about Mark Martel ?

Beverly.....You do have a point about releasing an Adam+Queen album, even a short album will do. Actually, I suggested earlier that Adam could sing one of the Adam songs from the supposed Adam+Queen album on their next tour. Perhaps it's time constraint and their Queen album was ready some time ago.

Queen have not released an album with Marc Martel. He is the lead singer of the Queen Extravaganza concert tour.

4:06.....Thanks. Actually I like Marc Martel's singing and voice, fits Queen songs, operatic. Only heard a couple of his songs. He likes Adam, says he doesn't miss a single note.

Queen and PR released one studio album - a flop financially and artistically - and 3 live albums, only one of them released in the UK and US. One only released in Japan, also flops.

While it is a great opportunity for Adam artistically and also financially I really hope Adam will establish himself as a solo artist and releasing his own music when this tour is over.

I like Marc Martel too. I think he'd be great playing Freddie in the film being made about Freddie. He's got the look & the voice. I've seen the guy in a BBC series, chosen to play the role, & there is nothing about him that's like Freddie but maybe that's what Brian & Roger want.

Please all US & other Glamberts in countries who have already had the pleasure of experiencing QAL live - so many of you several times, and many are coming to see the European gigs, too... Please lend your full support and joy for the Europeans getting to love and enjoy QAL Once in a Lifetime Tour, i.e. without at this point constantly speaking about the upcoming new music at the same time - we all want A3, but let Europe enjoy their QAL buffet first! Thank you.

@Beverly, While I agree with you that the release of Queen Forever seems to compete with the momentum of Adam's accolades regarding this monumental, successful tour, I think the album long had been in the works prior to the tour's resounding success, which I didn't think Queen had anticipated to this degree. Much work and years had gone into this album, but I, as many Glamberts would rather it be an album with Queen and Adam. I'm hoping for a long, fruitful alliance between them with new, original music as well as their music on tour together. Have to admit I'm not excited about revisiting Freddie when Adam is such a dynamo!

@Anon10:40, Never fear, Glamberts are excited about every Glambert in the UK, Europe, etc. fan being able to experience this concert of a lifetime. I was also thrilled that Asia, Australia and NZ fans had the opportunity to share this incredible gift. I've also posted my happiness for them on original media sites & know that I'm not alone. I think we all want as many people in the world as possible to have this thrill and excitement seeing our hopes and dreams for Adam come to fruition, as well as new fans being established as a result of this excellent exposure. Anticipating Adam's new album is in no way diminishing the momentum and happiness for you and our fellow Glamberts! I wish I could be there in the UK to relive one of the best experiences of my lifetime! It is something that you will never forget.. :)
