Adam Lambert (Guest Judge), Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick JR., on AMERICAN IDOL XIV airing Thursday, Jan. 14.
I’ve been watching American Idol for more than decade and few contestants have made a longer-lasting impression than Adam Lambert. He is what you expect to see from a show like Idol but don’t usually get. He’s got the showmanship, the flair and the voice of a superstar. It’s no surprise that to this day he’s one of the most successful Idol contestants. Can you believe he didn’t even win his season? But it’s all good, he’s got a Grammy nomination, number one albums, appearances on TV shows, and he tours internationally with a little band named Queen. And to think he even auditioned with one of their songs.
This week, Adam returns to the show that kickstarted his career but now as a guest judge. During the auditions, Keith Urban’s father-in-law passed away and Lambert was asked to step in. This is not the first time Adam comes back, he has served as mentor and guest performer on previous seasons. But as part of his rabid fan-base, I thought that any reason is good to look back at Adam Lambert’s American Idol journey. So, sit back, relax and let’s go back to a time when Idol showed us real jaw-dropping talent.

Frankly, I've got it all stamped in my brain; from the beginning, as he was sitting outside the room ready to go in, to face the music, literal sense. He looked just like anyone else so never judge a book by its cover, the good ole saying, holds true. Actually the judges knew from the start something different had accosted them; he in fact stirred up a little controversy from the get-go. The judges got all flustered and Kara said it was like 'pulling teeth' when Simon kicked up some dust. lol! Adam himself got a bit nervous because he couldn't let this opportunity slip by; he had actually resigned from the Wicked company and Hair company to materialise his Rockstar ambition. Thank goodness all is well that ends well. By the way, did you know the blind behind the judges' table came crashing down after Adam left. The repair men quickly put it back up lol! Kind of foretelling what was to emerge from AI/S8 that literally caused AI to crash just like the blind. lwl! Adam was so elated he marched off floating on cloud 9 and forgot to take his golden ticket until the person near the door waved it in his face. lol!
I got everything set for Idol tomorrow the biggest thing NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO TALK when the show is on. Lol
I get it twice to three times, rebroadcast. It will be surreal to feel I actually went through the whole Adam AI process and now he is sitting precisely in Randy's place; the 4 S8 judges sat in the same arrangement for 8+ years. lol! Talk about innovation. But I like their consistency actually, no nonsense simultaneously full of nonsense. lol!
I just watched AI/S14 and it was good especially one beautiful girl who sang country playing her banjo and yodled; She's going to get to Top 10. Yea also saw Adam a bit at the end, for tomorrow's show. S14 may come through with flying colours...ultimately it still boils down to singing talent / voice.
I loved the young Black country singer that someone mentioned in an earlier thread. I thought he was terrific also. All the judges loved him. Hope he makes it through. He was very talented and handsome too.
I hope the ratings go through the roof tonight because of Adam's appearance!!!
