Who knew...?!

"He often goes on the tube when he's here because it's easier - he did it in November and didn't have a problem.  But during his gigs in London this month he got absolutely mobbed with people asking for pictures and his autograph.  He has become a household name since the New Year's Eve performance with Queen and people have just gone nuts for him!"

I (WE) have always known for 6 years that Adam is a superstar. He was born that way...for this. :)

But, OMG. After the recent concerts & most definitely after what I've heard today.... I have NO DOUBT about the truth of this. None.

He IS a superstar. And he's getting better and better.

Astounding isn't even the word.

God bless you Adam! (and ALL teh members of Queen).

This is your time Adam. So proud that he is walking into it like the worldwide Superstar he really is!

My hats off to the Brits for recognizing it... And ACKNOWLEDGING it shamelessly. :))

Brings tears to my eyes....

He's just such an absolutely HUGE talent that he deserves all of this and more.....

Dumb question here... But what is the Tube? A bus? And have we seen any picts from those who mobbed him? :)

JR, it is the public transit system, the subway system running under London.

(There is above ground trains too but not sure if they call that the Tube or not as well.)

LAMBERT Outlaw said...

The 'tube' is the same as the subway here ... I believe. No pics necessary for me ... I believe! I believe!! I'll bet ADAM never expected that kind of response ... hehe ... Welcome to the world of Super Stardom ADAM!! As Paula A. would say "take it all in'!!

Sorry, folks, my bad, I shouldn't have assumed and should have explained "the tube"...! Indeed, it is akin to New York's subway or other underground rail systems around the world.

Implosion is about to commence, like a Adam Bomb❗️I so stoked to be along for the ride......

Umm, I'm not so sure about this.

"Adam Lambert usually likes to keep it real when he's in London and jumps on the tube to gigs with fans.

But it looks like the American Idol star will have to join other VIPs and grab a cab after he was MOBBED during his recent gigs at The O2 with the legendary Queen."

Have we ever heard of Adam riding the Tube with fans? Why wouldn't he ride to the arena with the rest of the band? And surely we would have seen pics from fans getting his autograph and pic if he was mobbed?

I guess the good part is people who don't follow him closely won't know we haven't seen evidence of this and will think he is a big star.

Somehow I doubt that the part about riding the tube to gigs with is completely accurate..

But I do remember that he had mentioned in years past the he likes London, and other cities, because he was relatively unknown in the UK & Europe..until now. I suspect he was indeed able to travel on public transit unrecognized until this past month..

The price of celebrity..

Gee, I would love to see him get some of that "mob" action in the U.S. Getting such great attention in the UK is giving him some very good cred. The "reality show" stigma seems to be fading away. He's a genuine superstar! This is making me very very very happy!

Dee R Gee said...

I agree that I don't think he goes to his major gigs by subway. But I'll he uses the tube with friends to go to after-gig clubs, etc. He loves city life, wherever he is in the world.

Gosh!!!! Just to be fair :)) Sometimes multiple people are working on comments simultaneously .. And don't know that other people are also answering the question..

And here's another post about The Tube :)))

I LOVE riding the "Tube"!!! So much fun!!! Well maintained and gets you there in a flash.. London is a tough city to drive in, and has a charge to drive within The City (the core area).. So most just hop on the Tube...

Another tip: Stay To The Right On The Stairs going up or down from street level to the underground.. people are in a HURRY and run down the left side of the stairs..

The question about whether The Tube (aka the Underground) is just ...under ground.. Most of it within the downtown areas is underground (hence The Tube) but outside of central London it is generally above ground (but not always..).. Inexpensive and quick way to go many places in the greater London area..

And always remember to "Mind The Gap" (the narrow space between the train car and the train platform at the stations..)..

Used to ride the tube to gigs with fans? This whole story sounds made up.

Wouldn't we have seen these pics of Adam and autographs and excited tweets about just seeing Adam in the Underground? I'm skeptical.

If Shosh planted it for attention for Adam, well done.

I wonder why he gets so much slack for being a reality tv star. Was that a big deal for Carrie Underwood?

I'm from the UK and have followed Adam since 2009 but he has never become really well known over here until now, so maybe on his previous trips to London he has been able to travel around by tube without being particularly recognised, but from now on it doesn't look as he will be able to travel by this method anymore. I've always thought he was never really promoted properly over here, his records never got any air play, there were a few appearances on chat shows a few years back but that was about it. Even the concerts in London in 2012 didn't seem to be particularly well promoted. Still that has now all changed, at last the UK is recognising his talent, it's only taken 6 years!!! Still better late than never!

Makes sense Dee R Gee.... probably where some of the confusion may have come from. After the gigs vs. before. Didn't quite make sense.... Adam riding the Tube TO a gig. Don't think so. :))

Still a fun article about our GFG and his rising Superstardom. The "mobbing" I DO believe is %100 fact. :)

The pics we've got from Adam while out in London have all been from cabs though.

Ha! Ha! too cute!
Love love our Famous Adam!:)

Check out the old movie " Werewolf of London" & you will see what the Tube/subways r like in UK.

Was 1st introduced to Queen by hubby in 1997 on way to London!!!
Soon soon, London, here we come :)

glitzylady said...

You know what?? Does it really matter if the story is not necessarily 100% true... It's a great little feature story and gets his name out there..

Adam is getting some AWESOME publicity in the UK and soon in Europe I would assume, so let's just enjoy it.. :)) I know I am!!!!

Anonymous said...

I don't think that it actually means he is going to or from his own gigs by tube, I think it just means that he used to use the tube to get other people's gigs and getting around London in general, shopping etc.

Anonymous said...

While this is a great story for Adam, yes, the truth matters to me.

Anonymous said...

It's a trashy tabloid fluff piece. I see no harm in acknowledging it is good promo for Adam while simultaneously laughing at it knowing it isn't true.

Part of the fun of being in London is riding in a big black cab......even I could stretch my long long legs out!

I LOVE riding in the Tube in London. Excellent way to get around this fabulous city. Even members of the Royal family have travelled on the Tube (they probably had a carriage to themselves or the whole train!)

Anonymous said...

Shosanna Stone just answered to some fan on Twitter that Adam has been riding tube when he goes shopping/free time, NOT when he goes to gigs. Problem solved.

Anonymous said...

1:56 AM, but was he mobbed while doing that? We haven't seen any pics of him out except in a cab or club. Just not a believable story for those of us who follow Adam's every move.

yada said...

Hi 1:16 :).....

I can see what you mean about the "mobbing" thing seeming unbelievable or, perhaps "fluff" reporting.....

With kind and good intent, I do wonder though, if perhaps you've considered that we don't often really "see" or have opportunity to follow Adam's activities and every move.... And the publicity and attention he receives when he goes different places? To me.... it seems highly probable that the "mobbing" scenes accompanying Adam's outings at times are actually happening; as QAL is in town and performing and that is big news.... Adam's heralded participation in QAL is making major headlines.... And after London's NYE event..... Considering the Tweeting activity.... Adam being the most googled for about 48 hours, etc.... Being exposed to millions upon millions.... The QAL events being wildly successful and the general public getting to "know" Adam.... And with all that then Adam walking around right in London itself, the supposed "mecca" (if you will) of these events (as in the O2 - akin to our Madison Square Gardens).... England's unabashed openness to Adam.... And his performance night after night like that of no less than a Superstar..... London's fascination with celebrity (as witnessed in their on-going adulations with the royal family)... .....

With all that (and some I didn't mention) I can see the "mobbing" when Adam goes places as being reasonable and likely representative of how a group or crowd acts when a "hot", current and in vogue celebrity is around (as Americans behave when a highly recognizable, gorgeous, charismatic major Hollywood actor with a current blockbuster would walk around and take the New York subway, for instance). We don't always see these events reported.... and people don't always tweet the pics.

Anyway.... Just my thoughts and ideas thrown out for consideration. :))

Yada, if Adam is being mobbed while out, why haven't we seen pics related to it on twitter or IG? Nothing saying here is a pic of me and Adam on the tube, or a pic saying look at the autograph I got today when I saw Adam on the tube. No pretend selfies where they are really taking a pic of Adam sitting behind them. We have pics from people who met Adam in clubs, why absolutely nothing from the tube? Don't you think that part is odd?

yada said...

Yes, 10:10.... I do think it's odd.

I still believe it's likely that Adam has received an extraordinary amount of attention .... and what Londoners (and/or a headline grabbing media) would call "mobbing".

For speculation purposes.... The appearances at clubs seemed to me to be publicized events.... The venues actually announced that Adam would be coming...

We don't enjoy too much privy to Adam pics in real-world situations anymore though - even in LA/America..... So, perhaps Adam might have "people" who watch for this... Security maybe?
Seems like one or two would get through anyway... And maybe they have. Private tweet/IG pics our Glambert ninjas haven't found, yet? Even the sleuthiest of our talented Glamily haven't come across some of those type pics until years after the fact....

Anyway, just some additional thoughts.....

And, I hear you, 10:10. You bring up a logical question. :)
