TRANSLATION OF THE REVIEW:

"Yesterday evening IN PARIS ... QUEEN & ADAM LAMBERT"

"The group Queen and singer Adam Lambert gave a concert at the Zenith on Monday evening."

"On paper, it was frightening. Queen without Freddie Mercury will never Queen, even if Brian May and Roger Taylor continue to keep the flame for more than twenty years. Yesterday evening so in a Parisian Zenith not totally complete, Queen smashes his way as to the great era, with a "One vision" dantesque, close to the 1986 version. All of studded leather clad, Adam Lambert has the charm and the voice of the youth. HAS comfortable in his new role, the boy clearly puts his feet in the not of Freddy Mercury. And would be wrong to not assume his side queer."

"Adam roared, Adam dance, Adam sings, Adam caused, Adam got the job done, a thousand times more that Paul Rodgers between 2005 and 2008. Draped in a semblance of nightie, Adam is lying on a boudoir in the middle of the public to interpret "Killer Queen". As Freddy, he rolled the eyes and the codend, but this is all done with humor, the smile on his lips. "Love you Freddy launched it to the crowd? Because just be aware that I also liked as much as you". No need to say more. Adam is there to pay tribute to his idol and se plug from the comparison."

"Behind, Brian May and Roger Taylor have allure. The gray hair of Brian are always long, Roger has the white beard, but the passion is intact and see fun like kids, one behind his guitar, the other behind his drums, is a pleasure simply jubilant. Remains the essential. In 2h20, this training of Queen will unroll a setlist impressive who reminds you immediately how much this group has forged the identity of the contemporary rock. Yes, Queen is as important as David Bowie or Led Zeppelin. They have not, unfortunately, leaves the same footprint. "

"But the alignment of standards shiver. Brian May and Roger Taylor have designed a set that mixture intelligently all eras, the first titles very rocks ( "seven seas of rhye" effective, "Tie your mother down, abrasive) to the sumptuous ballads of the end ( "who wants to live forever", magic, "the show must go on", obvious). Supreme Luxury of big rock, they can offer solos without risk of emptying the room. Taylor played on the battery as if his life depended on it, while May tried once again to take his guitar in the stars. "

"The everything is played with good grace, without giving the feeling to see a concert one hundred times too played. Who would have thought that in 2015, Queen, not having composed a new title since 20 years, spell with such a freshness? Who wouldn't dream that one day Brian May and Roger Taylor last find someone to fit the crampons of Freddie Mercury? Even the purists se pincaient, yesterday evening in Paris, there was "a kind of magic" in the air."

Magic always in the air when I hear Adam sing.....

Read that one in French and was quite pleased that it was really positive even though it started by scaring me a bit with the first sentence...
I saw a few mistakes (false friends mostly like "complet" -> "sold out" not "complete") I can work on it and correct the worse one, and maybe post a corrected version later on in the comments?

Great review! Thank you! I always enjoy these translations. The fact that they come out a little odd makes it all the more fun. The feelings are the same.

I've got a huge smile on my face reading the translation of this review ( not because of grammatical mistakes but because of the sentiment ).

A wonderful review of QAL.

Smiled my way through the translation. But got the jest of the review. Adam once again brings the magic! Of course he does, he is simply magic!

Totally OFF TOPIC, but a nice mention of Adam on the Today Show this morning when they were reporting the Phillip Phillips law suit against American Idol.

Glad to read that Adam and Queen brought some magic to Paris after its recent tragic events. The translation made me smile, but we know exactly what the reviewer is saying in spite of the unusual grammatical translation.

As told, translation done, may still be some mistakes but at least they're not lexical ones.

"The band Queen and the singer Adam Lambert performed at the Zenith on Monday evening."

"On paper, it was frightening. Queen without Freddie Mercury will never be Queen again, even if Brian May and Roger Taylor kept maintaining the flame alive for more than twenty years. So, yesterday evening in a Parisian Zenith not totally sold out, Queen smashed its way in like in the old days, with a dantesque "One vision", close to the 1986 version. Dressed in studded leather, Adam Lambert has the charm and the voice of youth. Comfortable in his new part, the boy clearly puts his feet in the path of Freddy Mercury. And would be wrong to not assume his queer side."

"Adam roars, Adam dances, Adam sings, Adam provokes, Adam does the job, a thousand times better than Paul Rodgers between 2005 and 2008. Draped in some kind of nightie, Adam is lying on a chaise longue in the middle of the audience to sing "Killer Queen". Like Freddy, he rolls his eyes and his ass, but all of that is done with humor, a smile on his lips. "Do you love Freddy?" he asks to the crowd, "Because, just so you know: I love him as much as you do". No need to say more. Adam is here to pay tribute to his idol and do not care about the comparison."

"Behind, Brian May and Roger Taylor look very fine. Brian's grey hair are still long, Roger's beard is white, but the passion is untouched and watching them have fun like little kids, one behind his guitar, the other behind his drums, is a pleasure purely exhilarating. Remains the essential. In two hours and twenty minutes, this version of Queen unrolled an impressive setlist which reminds you immediately of how much this band has formed the identity of Contemporary Rock. Yes, Queen is as important as David Bowie or Led Zeppelin. They have not, unfortunately, left the same footprint. "

"But the lined-up hits makes you shiver. Brian May and Roger Taylor have designed a show that mixes cleverly all of the band's periods, from the first songs, very rock'n' rolly (the effective "Seven Seas of Rhye", and the abrasive "Tie your Mother Down") to the magnificent ballads of the end (the magical "Who Wants to Live Forever", and the highly expected "The Show Must Go On"). Supreme luxury of great rock's' roll musicians, they can treat themselves with solos without the risk of making their audience leave. Taylor plays the drums as if his life depended on it, while May tries once again to take his guitar to the stars. "

"All of it is performed graciously, without making it feel like we are watching a show played one hundred times too many. Who would have thought that in 2015, Queen, not having composed a new song for 20 years, would sounds that much new? Who would have imagined that one day Brian May and Roger Taylor would have finally found someone to fit in the shoes of Freddie Mercury? Even the purists pinched themselves, yesterday night in Paris, there was "a kind of magic" in the air."

They definitely brought some kind of magic, and the cartoon was highly appreciated in the audience :)

@Blackberry DT

Thank you very very much for taking the time to correct some of the translate some of the wording! So very kind and thoughtful of you! Adam has some of the kindest fans; which is absolutely fitting of a man like him!!

This was an excellent review. I was kind of worried at first; because everyone was saying that they would be very hard on Queen because of Adam; which turned out to be baloney. Adam's talents cannot be denied. Someone stated it was nothing personal; just that they liked certain artist from their own country with a few known exceptions! Well I guess that Adam is now one of the exceptions!!! Another One Bites The Dust!!!!!!

Thank again you so much for your excellent and helpful translating expertise, BlackberryDT. I adore your French language... fell in love with years ago. The most beautiful language on earth, IMO. (and your homeland - France - is exquisitely beautiful, itself!) :)

Loved this excerpt from the review:

"Behind, Brian May and Roger Taylor look very fine. Brian's grey hair are still long, Roger's beard is white, but the passion is untouched and watching them have fun like little kids, one behind his guitar, the other behind his drums, is a pleasure purely exhilarating."

Awww! Isn't that the truth? I enjoy reading that about these extraordinary gentlemen. :))

You're welcome (again). You are all so nice it's making me blush. :)
I like to think it's my duty to make sure that all of the positive things written in reviews in France about Adam are well translated, and that you know that even though quite unknown, he is well-loved as well here :) -and as I want to be a translator after my study it's also a really cool exercise for me as well.
What was amazing was all of these reactions of the audience, similar to the ones in the reviews: people amazed by Adam and his skills at the end of the show -and even during- even though I heard quite negative stuffs at first before it began.

@yada: I'm really glad you thought I did a good job, as well as to see some appreciation for France, it never hurts -as we're not really used to it. And okay, French can be gorgeous, but English damn, that's a musical language :)

I was worried about Adam performing in Paris due to the recent terrorist activity. Adam is jewish and hurting him could go a long way for a terrorist to get to heaven and get all the virgins. I am so glad it went off without a problem. Was the security in checking people getting in any stricter than usual?

Thanks for the translation. I would have used an online translator and I probably would not have gotten the gist of the article as well as when you translated it.

BlackberryDT said...

Oh you definitely should not have worried at all. Yes the recent events were more than tragic, I still have no words, but Paris is not a dangerous place. I live a few minutes away from one of the attacks location, and was not event panicked too much during the events, so a few weeks after... water under the bridge, security reinforced in all of the region, numerous arrests, people are getting better each day.

And on top of that, Adam is close to unknown here, I'm not even sure people are interested in what he believes or not -they're for the most of them not even interested in his own songs so...

In terms of security, the only differences I saw from the last time I went to the ZĂ©nith were one: bottles were thrown in the trash before entering the venue, and two: "Je suis Charlie" placards in the venue.

Don't be paranoid and stop trusting everything FoxNews has been saying and showing about Paris the past few weeks: these "no-go zone" were a myth; proof is, the venue is in a ""no-go zone"", and some of the footage viewers saw were from 10 years ago. :) Some tv channels were waaaay too dramatic during the events.

Anyway, looong digression, sorry.
I hope I have not hurt anyone by saying something awkward, I simply want to reassure people by saying we're pretty much okay and we have returned to a calmer life.

Blackberry.... Thank you for the update (from someone who would truly know first-hand and/or through personal family/friends) about the after effects and the current climate after the Paris tragedy.

Really happy to hear that Parisians are holding fast to their way of life... Possibly (hopefully) already healing.... and responding with courage and smart security in the face of all this.

My deepest respect and admiration to your countrymen. What a resilient and strong city & country. Blessings ... <3 xo :)

Adam is well known all over Europe and that includes Paris.

Another thank you for your help with the translation, and a personal comment..

You said you live not far from one of the areas of the attacks.. I was horrified to see the events in Paris, as the rest of the world was. I felt a little bit of a personal connection because I spent some time in Paris in Sept.. Loved it!!! And wished I could have been back in Paris for the concert.. :)) We stayed in the Marais district, near the Bastille & Isle d' St. Louis/Isle d' la Cite for the first part of our stay, we left the country for a week in Norway to visit relatives, and then returned and stayed near the Le Tour Eiffel and a couple of blocks from the Rue Cler, where we had dinner almost every evening.. What a beautiful, and at that time, peaceful yet vibrant place.. We were also aware of the underlying tensions within Paris and France, but saw nothing that would give a clue to what would soon happen there.. Hoping you stay safe and the city is healing from the attacks..

Thank you @yada for your comment :) I have to agree that I was quite surprised but impressed by the reaction of the State and the People, after the events.

To Anom, well in Europe definitely, in Paris? sure by people in the street like me? In the media? not so much, they talked about him in 2010 because he performed in Paris, but after that... nothing until now where they seem to discover him... That's why I said quite unknown, but sure if I ask my friends some will know him thanks to Whataya Want From Me, or more recently Queen. I was referring to the general opinion compared to other artist as big as him in the US.

to @glitzylady: that's a very nice neighborhood :) I often go near Bastille and Saint-Paul to hang out and shop a bit. My personal favorite: the garden of the Tuileries in summer, lounging in the chairs and reading :) I'm pleased to see you were not only in the "good" parts of the city, near Bastille and the Marais, for me, it's more the way I see Paris as a Parisian than the Eiffel Tower. There's always a tension in big cities, you just have to don't let them win and live your life as usual :) Thanks for your comment.

@BlackberryDT
We preferred the Marais/Bastille area when it was all said and done.. As you said, it felt more personal, more Parisienne, and was just a few blocks from the Seine, and the Islands.. Such a beautiful area to explore.. We would stay in that area again given the opportunity of another trip to Paris.. A favorite for dinner while we were in the area was Chez Margot on Boulevard Henri IV.. friendly neighborhood gathering place.. Hoping very much to return one day..

Sorry for the off topic convo :)))
