Earlier today (as reported in separate thread by @broddybounce here on Adam Lambert 24/7 News), Shoshanna Stone, who is Adam Lambert's publicist with Edge Publicity, tweeted:

So the PROMO for Adam Lambert's new album, "The Original High", begins!!!

And now we have this picture of Adam Lambert, on Michael Baggs' Instagram account. Michael Baggs is the Senior Music Journalist at Shazam, which among other things offers a Music App.. that:

"While most users think of Shazam as a handy tool for identifying unfamiliar songs, it offers music executives something far more valuable: an early-detection system for hits". From the Atlantic Magazine article "The Shazam Effect" (see link at the bottom of the page).

Here are some links that explain a bit about it.. and the significance of this meeting with Adam Lambert..

It has begun!! UK-wise and Europe-wise, Adam's profile is really high right now. And The Shazam Effect is apparently very very important. Hope we see this interview soon and that the promos just keep on coming, AND hope that U.S. radio really gets onboard this time.

Read a comment on Atop a while ago about maybe not relying so much on radio call-ins so much this time. Spot/Pan, and other ways to show our preferences in music may work to a better advantage. I don't much about it, but I do know that we need a strong, united front. We are ready, TOH!

I hope everyone here reads the article The Atlantic Magazine's "The Shazam Effect" I included in the thread topic.. It's long (4 pages..) but extremely informative.. And very relevant to the promo of Adam's new music.. Critical.

The music biz is changing at lightening speed.

On to the new era of Adam's music #TheOriginalHigh

EXCITING!!!!

Adam is one of the nicest people out there, so kind and always goes out of the way for his people.

I read all the pages, and to me this sounds like the most exciting thing to happen for Adam, right next to being signed with Warner Bros Music. It sounds like at least someone is actually listening to Adams music, and if all goes well he will be on radio.
The fact that he is noticed already before his music is out, sounds very exciting. We will see what the Shazam effect will have for Adam.
I wondered when he would show up in the UK, his shoot must already be done, since the UK is 8 hours ahead of the US. He must be very excited, I wonder how long he has known about this photo shoot?

I hope this is as good as it sounds. Go Adam it's your time to shine on the world stage.

I just hope Adam finds himself a great band of polished musicians, listening to Adam sing along with Brian and Roger has been pure joy, Adam of course can sing with anyone but his usual band with Tommy on lead guitar will be a big let down after hearing him sing with these professionals.

I mentioned here before to get the Shazam app on your phones and get ready. Borrow your friends and families phones too ;)

Glad to see Shazam is already aware of Adam.

Hope there are a couple of beautiful ballads on TOH in the vain of "Save me", and "Who Wants To Live Forever; to really show off his beautiful voice!!

I also wish he could get Rufus as his drummer! Maybe his former band members are with other bands now and they won't be able to join Adam!

I'll be shazaming Adam's new single comes April. I'll play it on my iPod then I shazam it with my iPhone. I use shazam a lot.

The nicest man. Period.
Hope they use a lot of out-of-the-box ideas when promoting Adam! He sooo deserves it!

This article helps to explain why Taylor Swift sells so many albums. People anticipate that her songs will be at the top of the charts to their minds think she is better than she is.

How does Shazam know if someone is shazaming a song over and over to get it noticed. Doing that is free. If it cost something, would people shazam as much? Some people may shazam every song they hear.

Bad news for Adam is that voice quality was not mentioned as being as important as having a hook that clicks with the brain of the most people. Some of the most popular artists can't sing well or not at all. That has not stopped them from topping the charts.

Did someone interview Adam from Shazam? If so, where is the article. What good did a meeting with Shazam do for Adam? Everything is based on data. Personal preferences are waning.

It may initially be a letdown for some fans when Adam starts to sing unfamiliar music with an unfamiliar band.

9:28 PM, we are assuming Michael Baggs from Shazam interviewed Adam TODAY. I would guess the interview will appear on Shazam after the release of the first single. If it goes as with the other interviews I have seen there then his single video or a performance vid will also be there for people to watch. Shazam also suggests new tracks to listen to. It is possible they could suggest Adam's new song.

I think it is a good thing that Shazam is interested in Adam. My fingers are crossed they will be promoting him.

As for your last paragraph, that's a pretty negative place to start from.

Very informative and revealing post, glitzylady. I found the article.... The current and growing trend within the industry fascinating... A little unnerving, and yet, also every helpful as it gives us, as Adam's fans and supporters, some points to consider and guiding info on how to help do our part to promote him where we can among buyers and get more exposure of his music and his web info out there for trackable purposes. Our own 'marketing footprints', if you will....

I'm going to read it again to really absorb the info. LOTS of stuff to learn in there.

Makes me feel very very good that Shazam is participating with Adam. Shosh appears to be assertive about this as well.

YAY & double **thumbs up**

As we've said before.... I have a good feeling about all this. :-))))

Thank you for the post!

@Anon 9:28 PM
Just to clarify:

About the article linked at the bottom of the thread topic:

I posted the article from The Atlantic "The Shazam Effect" to give some background: ie What the heck is "Shazam"???.. I found it enlightening because I personally didn't know what it was all about.. Some are familiar with it, or at least the App... It's good to have some knowledge about it, IMO, so that when we as Adam Lambert fans are asked to download the Shazam App, if we don't already have it, it will be a little more clear as to "Why?".. I personally would like to be whatever help I can to Adam.. If it helps him, fabulous!!!

Adam met with the Senior Music Journalist in London, from Shazam, as was noted. We don't know what transpired in the meeting... Currently there is no interview.. I have no idea if it will ever be revealed what they discussed. It was most likely a private business meeting. part of setting up the promo.. One of many things Adam will be involved in as he gets closer to his new single and album release.

The man did post a picture of Adam and his comment was "The nicest man in Pop #adamlambert". That's what we know about the actual meeting.. And I would agree with that comment.. :))))

As we know, music today is a complicated and competitive business. And seemingly unpredictable.. Anything that can help Adam succeed with this next album is okay by me. And if Shazam is another tool to be used, good. Obviously it's only one of a myriad of factors that enter into the difference, and sometimes thin line, between a hit song and one that doesn't make it to the Top 40.. We've been though this process before.

I have ..high.. hopes for Era 3/"The Original High".. :))

Thanks for your comments.. You brought up some good points..

Fingers crossed...

I don't think we have enough info to conclusively say that there is an interview coming from Shazam or that it was a private business meeting. But seeing as Michael Baggs is the Senior Journalist.... and we haven't been alerted to business meetings previously... and they photographed the event... with that lighting behind Adam.... and Shosh called it promo day... I won't be surprised if we see an interview done by Michael Baggs.

Baggs is a journalist and he posted a pic with the "nicest guy" comment - I have never seen someone doing this for a private business meeting. That would be unprofessional.

To me it seems reasonable to assume that they did an interview and it probably will be released around the time the single is released.

It is great that the promo for the next era is already starting in the UK!
